I haven't made these in years and couldn't remember which recipe I used.. The only thing I could recall was that it had egg whites in it. A lot of the ones I came across didn't have it, but then I found this one.. They turned out ((PERFECT))... And they sure make the house smell good with the sweet toasty, roasty smell of the candied pecans! 🤗
So glad you found the video and gave it a try and liked it. :) Yeah I like using the egg whites for binding the sugar, it just seems to stay on better that way. yes the smell is amazing!! :) :)
Loved the simple recipe but would also love the ingredients measurements in the recipe., oh well I'll just watch the video as I try making them. Thanks Matt.
Thanks Todd! All the ingredients are listed in the description box below the video :) Also there is a link to the printable written recipe on my website. You are welcome! Let me know how it turns out.
Wow! I'm so excited I found your video. My mom used to make these when I was a child (in the 70s). I remembered she had eggs out but I never knew the rest of the ingredients much less the process. Thank you Matt!! Simple & easy to do. ❤❤❤
Matt. Please research and do a video making Kentucky Jam Cake. My mom made a 5 layer one every year for Christmas. All in cast iron skillets. I loved the tiny one on top. Its was about 3-4 inches across. This video reminded me of the cake. She never candied them but there were alot of pecans used.
Always use the brown sugar best to use half white half brown give the pecans that ummm good flavor I use bourbon I always have on hand for my instant pot pumpkin bourbon cheesecake you can use vanilla as well, you don’t need the butter you really don’t need it but could be a twist on another taste, I enjoy candid pecan videos see if anything is different ,I use a pinch of cayenne as well, optional, making candid pecans is a great gift, I have a BFF, she loves my candid pecans, I give for her birthday every year, this video was good for a different taste as well. Good job :)
Hi Matt, I'm ready to make your candied pecans recipe. Could I use demerara sugar only, and eliminate the white sugar altogether or, do you advise using both sugars? Also, could I add something to give them a little spicy kick? Thanks Matt :-)
I'd appreciate if you'd write the directions. They look exactly like the ones I got at Trader Joe's, which I loved and put some in the ice cream I'd made. Since TJ's didn't have them the next time I went, I was delighted to see your concoction.
They are written on my website. You can find the link in the description box under the video. :) If you still can't find it here it is: www.inthekitchenwithmatt.com/candied-pecans
Nevermind ! I found it , I missed it since it was only mentioned at the very beginning and not in the baking part . But it’s all good 👍🏼 thanks again for sharing the recipe 😊 Looks awesome and I am trying it today . Wish me luck
I buy these Candied Pecans or Cashews from the Gun Show every single time I go!! 😅😅 So I just absolutely HAD to learn how to make them MYSELF!!.. So thanks for this video!!
You can certainly try it. It helps bind everything together and stay on the pecans. The butter doesn't really combine ingredients like egg whites do. But go for it and see what happens. :)
I tried this recipe literally an hour ago and I think I did something wrong. The ingredients did not stick to the pecans. Any suggestions on what I may have done wrong
Yes. Should I have used 2 maby? The egg wasn't big? Also I did use 3 cups of pecans on the coating. They still taste ok, but then again it's my first time making this.
Okay yes if you used more pecans you will need another egg white. I think 2 would have done the trick. Glad you gave it a try, I think you will have better results next time. Let me know how it goes. @@Loredo2328
It is way better with the egg whites. Until you have tried it exactly like this you don't know. :) And yes I have done candied items many many times with just water and sugar, doesn't compare.

I recommend trying it as is first then experiment after. Yes you could add a bit of chili powder or cayenne or something if you want some kick.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt thank you so much, Matt. Will do. Cheers

What temperature was the oven? Convection or conventional?
Hello. 275F (135C) mentioned at 0:50 in the video. Conventional.

That is awesome!! Let me know how these turn out once you try them!

275F mentioned at 0:50 in the video. That is 135 Celsius.
How long can I store the pecans
2 to 3 weeks
Once u make them how do u store them?
In an airtight container or bag at room temp. :)
These look great! How long do they stay fresh?
Thanks! They stay fresh for about a week or so.
Do u have a vegan substitute for the egg white?
Hi sorry, no I don't, that isn't really my specialty. You can try just leaving it out.
Try aquafaba whipped like he did the egg whites
can I leave out the egg whites?
You can certainly try it. It helps bind everything together and stay on the pecans. The butter doesn't really combine ingredients like egg whites do. But go for it and see what happens. :)
Sweet, can't wait to make these- thanks! :-)
You are welcome!! Yeah they are so yummy and addicting haha
How many degrees into the oven?
375F/190C I mentioned it at 0:51 in the video.
He said begin to preheat the oven to 275 so not sure what’s true now

You can make your own brown sugar by adding molasses to white sugar

Salt enhances the flavor

Awesome!
Not me thanks sir no egg
I thought bro was blind
Why bother with the egg white it serves absolutely no purpose for this recipe
Um yes it does, it is the binder for the sugar.
