People hype up the fight scenes, but it's the subtle animations in every episode that stand out to me. The way hair moves, the subtle turns and facial expressions, the way cloth flows and warps to reflect character movements. From the scene where Fern sits next to Stark and casually folds her dress under her before sitting down I've been on high alert for all those small things they didn't have to do but still felt necessary to truly flex.
I totally agree. I would add something else too: the incredible level of details on backgrounds. When you mix those day to day animations and the believable backgrounds, it makes the show feel absolutely alive
Graf granat mentioned in episode 9 that aura's magic has a fatal flaw that whoever has a strong will can resist the spell temporarily. and when frieren told aura to unalive herself, it looks like aura has a strong will to defeat frieren and trying so hard to resist her own spell. that fatal flaw makes aura's death more brutal.
There's some really good visual differences in fern's fighting from the qual battle to this one, in the qual fight she was lazy and didn't study up and was almost unprepared for the fight, she got blasted backwards and barely got a 3rd shield up in time. In the tiny drawings of her you can barely make out her expressions of effort. Right after the battle she's studying while waiting for frieren on the cart. This battle you see she's absolutely prepared and not even flinching at lugner's attacks, calmly just catwalking around his magic. On my first watch I didn't even realize that fern blasted lugner right through the tower.
You mention the earrings! For a 1000 years after the death of Flamme, Frieren never wears any earrings at all, but once she joins Himmel's party, she begins to wear Red Teardrop earrings just like Flamme with one exception. The earrings are magical, they do not attach to the ear, but Flamme's have a small bauble which dangles below the teardrop. After Frieren joins Himmel, she never takes off the earrings to sleep. Nothing is ever said in the story about this, and it might have no significance, but the timing of it, is very curious. Great reaction and yes, the story does get better. A S2 would include the El Dorado arc, all that glitters is not gold.
Everything about this show is perfection, the story, characters, animation, sound effects, and music! I have yet to watch an Anime as good as this, tbh as far as fantasy stories it ranks close to LotR imo
Fun question time - given that Frieren's mana suppression is one of her oldest techniques and certainly her most practiced one, and she's very aware that sometimes lesser demons watch fights of stronger demons... can the audience be sure that she was releasing all of her mana or just enough to make Aura aware of just how outclassed she was? (This isn't a spoiler-y question, its just what I wondered after seening that scene) ...Manga to anime comparison, can be read as a spoiler, so do not scroll down if you do not want it... . .. ... .... ..... .... ... .. . One of the few things left out of the manga to the anime for this episode was a panel of Flamme with her parents, surrounded by flowers and laughter, followed by a few choice lines that add a bit more history to Flamme. Its one of the few emotional gut punches that the show didn't decide to take.

"How did Feiren defeat her before?" She had 3 absolute badass companions. Himmel, Eisen, and Heiter are incredibly powerful. Frieren would have never made it without them.
In one of the fast flashbacks in episode 10 that summarises the hero party’s journey, we see an image of their previous encounter with Aura. Himmel attacked Aura before she could use her magic and the scales flew off her hand. So she probably escaped cause she is a sitting duck. Then the hero party obliterated the remains of Aura’s army. That’s where Linie learnt Eisen’s technique. That’s also where Lugner saw Frieren for the first time. All those flashbacks take place in a similar background and them being with Aura makes sense.

Heiter said her supressed mana is 1/5 of his, and we saw both her supressed and full mana in EP. 10. Frieren has several times Heiters mana.

Fern was so COLD in this episode. Stoic while hurt. While launching a barrage of spells. She's just focused on the goal to kill her opponent. Honestly, terrifying but amazing at the same time. 🫣

Lugner and Linie are actually awesome characters and for enemies and demons, they were really enjoyable. This show does characters right, I swear. I'm super attached to one that isn't even alive anymore lol with Himmel. Also this is a show that does backstory and flashbacks right. They happen so often that it's integral to the show. But it doesn't feel forced and I love it.
The hero party defeated the demon king. Its not freiren alone. They are all equally strong and important during the fight. Freiren was gifted with strong comrades
With regards to starks bandages, Its probably a way to suppress/slow down bleeding pre emptively in case he gets wounded in those areas. Similar to a practice used by the juramentados during the Philippine American war where the warriors would wrap their bodies tightly with layers of cloth bandage so that when they get shot, they dont bleed out too much and can continue fighting
oh yes, the payoff was so good in those two episodes, the fact that fight scenes are not common it makes them even more impactful. The ending of ep 10 is one of the best flexes i've ever seen, they make you savor it for the entire episodes, setting it up in the flashback with Flamme's teachings and everything. Frieren the Slayer is killing elite level demons just by existing, she didn't even had to do anything (even tho technically it was Aura's own magic, but still epic)🤣
Note that Frieren didn't say "take your own head off", she just said "kill yourself", but because decapitation is Aura the Guillotine's preferred method, that's what she chose. Also remember the Graf's son showed that those with strong willpower can resist, hence why Aura take's their heads: Aura couldn't resist.

i don't understand fans shounen that hate frieren. Frieren not shounen anime that have lot battle scene. Frieren is adventure anime not just selling story telling, but there more like music, BGM, even detail sound cloth like SEIN that not much people noticed it, the graphic that there no 3D dragon and even gargoyle is not 3D(this spoiler you soon). Also battle scene frieren is only few but so beautiful and detail, like this episode you can see fern vs lugner clash is like firework.
