AWESOME way to have the wood-look without an expensive & tedious scroll saw. 2 tips: I would use transfer tape to move the words (have to be with little tackiness) Second tip: tape your ruler down with painters tape so your words/letters are nice and straight. Please keep the out-of-the-box ideas coming. This is brilliant! Thanks 🙏
Not sure why some people are saying they wouldn’t sell these. I absolutely would sell them. There is as much work cutting out the foam as there is with any other material, and the end result is stunning
Love this! Now I know my Air 2 can cut craft foam. I have also used craft foam for stamps with craft paint. Now i don't have to cut it by hand. There's lots of uses for craft foam. Keep those great ideas coming. Can't wait for your next one.
This was my first time ever working with craft foam. I'm looking forward to seeing what else I can make with it! Thanks for the comment and watching! ❤️
I left a few comments & tips 3 days ago. I’m so excited and my project is very close to begin cutting! 😃 In my design I made a 2nd text box with the same words and size. But when I cut, im going to use black foam (the front is orange) I believe this will make an even more pronounced 3D effect. Looks awesome in design space, now on to cutting. Just a thought thanks to your video. THANKS!🙏
Oh that sounds awesome! Are you in my Facebook group? I'd love if you posted a picture so we can all see your finished project! facebook.com/groups/CricutSVGs
This is such a great tutorial! I’m a teacher and always find myself wanting a new sign for my classroom each year but they are SO expensive! Thanks so much for showing a true step by step tutorial. I’m new to circuit so showing us the creating, printing, and even how to change the blade helps sooo much!
You are so welcome! I went to school to be a teacher and have a Bachelor's in Biology, but I decided to be a teacher on UA-cam instead 😅 I'm really glad you found this video helpful, and I'm sure you'll find a lot more on my channel just like it! Thanks for watching!
Love this. Such a great work around for cutting wood on Cricut. I am never satisfied with the results of wood cuts. Thank you for sharing, this is life changing!!

Oh my goodness Carrie ( not sure of the spelling of your name sorry ) this is a game changer ! I have been following your channel for a very long time and you have been by far the best content creator of Cricut I have found. Thank you so very much for your inspiration and your game changing insights. Love & Much Thanks from Nova Scotia, Canada 🇨🇦 xo
@Cricuter OH my goodness Kerri. I have been following you for so long and I usually craft in the wee hours of the night so ( I am a special needs teacher) and crafting is both a creative outlet and a way to engage my kids of all ages and skill levels so everytime I see you've posted a new video I immediately go to see it, especially the closer it gets to Christmas I need ideas because I let the kiddos make presents for their family members so it takes ( in some cases ) a very long time to complete a project.P.S. absolutely no thanks needed. You make an awesome teacher !xo
@@sylviamacdonald7625 I'm speechless! I'm so glad I inspire you. Thank you for the kind words. I even showed my husband my phone like 🥺😍 what a nice thing to read!
@Cricuter LOL, I am so happy you were pleased with my comments, but truly your videos are easy to follow regardless of your level of skill. I also like them because they are geared to helping you sell your items which comes in very handy at Christmas. PLEASE keep creating these videos. They truly are a huge help with newbies in the Cricuit world like myself.
abSOlutely love this idea!!! I will be using it for a project for my niece’s bedroom!! I just have to get the blade! Thank you for sharing!!! Tip: use a sponge makeup triangle to apply glue to intricate pieces. Hugs and Happy Creating!!!
I saw your video on my feed and it blew me away. I get so discouraged when I see my UA-cam subs making things from a laser cuz they got it for free. I hate the way it makes me feel that I have to have one but I understand its part of the game. This was awesome and I'm gonna have to check out the rest of ur videos. Thank you this was amazing!
Cricut crafting is like a gateway drug into sublimation, laser engraving, painting, etc. I always feel the pressure to learn and make all the things too. But one thing at a time, one day at a time! This hack isn't as good as a laser engraver but it allows you to make 3d projects without all that extra money and stuff. Just try to have fun with it 🥰
Liked-subbed-and hit the notification!!Thank you so much for this video,I was staring at a glowforge to make this and I can’t wait to try this with my Cricut!!I have all the supplies in my craft room so I’m going to give this a try tonight❤Thank you for sharing.
This is what I’ve been looking for! I, too, hate to paint but I’ve been longing to make wood signs for my in laws. I have 2 wood signs I bought at Target last year. They are actually charcuterie boards with a handle jute string so they are ready to hang. They even already have a dark finish. The timing is perfect. I’ve been looking at cutting foam and my deep point blade is arriving today and my purple mats tomorrow! Looks like I have Christmas presents all set! New subbie here!
I am definitely going to get some foam and try this!! But I get my wood rounds from Menards…. 12” is $5.79 and 15” is $8.98 How well do you think the foam would hold up outside?
I don't have one of those stores near me but I'm sure your comment will be helpful to others who do! I've never put one outside but I feel like with the modge podge over it it would be pretty waterproof. You would have to stain the wood too to waterproof it.
I love this idea, and thank you for sharing! Although I do like the larger wood rounds, target does have the nice smaller ones and Walmart has the black 13in ones as well! I’ll be doing this! Thanks again!!❤
Super vidéo ! Que d’idées de génie ! Je n’ai pu résister de regarder pour comprendre et suis épatée par le résultat ! Cela rend tellement bien, et même professionnel. Je suis en France mais je suis sure de trouver les supports cités ici aussi. Merci 🙏
Target has been selling rounds for a while now. Besides the difference in price, there’s also quality. Home Depot’s rounds are better quality than targets. I can sell my rounds from Home Depot for more money than I can from the ones at target. But I guess it’s all about preference. 😊
Yaaaasssssss!!!!! immediately subscribed thanks for this video, I want a laser soooo stinkin bad and this vid saves me money and will potentially MAKE me $. Loves this thanks so much
Just wondering why you didn’t use a transfer paper or tape to lift the letters? I think it would be easy to apply the glue and the put it on the wood? Loved your ideas, they looked so nice!
I've never worked with craft foam before so I wasn't really sure what I was doing lol I'll try transfer tape next time. I didn't think it would stick at the time
I have not tried foam before, but I think I would put transfer tape or contact paper, on the letters before taking it off the mat. It wo. uld probably make it easier to transfer onto the wood, without having to place each letter. Just a thought. Not sure how it would work
It's worth a try. I didn't get a clean cut all the way through the foam so I kind of had to lift it up and pull it apart with my fingers. It wasn't easy to weed like vinyl. So the pieces didn't stay in place to be able to use transfer tape with. I'm sure after doing it a few times and playing around with the cut settings you could do what you're suggesting
The one at HD was $8/$10 not too long ago and they are 17 inches, so much bigger. I don't think you should sell foam words unless it is stated they are foam. These are great for personal use and to sell as long as they know it is foam. 😊
Thank you. I hate it too and I have a new mic on the way to fix it. When I turn on my screen recorder it picks up the sound of my computer fans running. Drives me nuts! I'm sorry.
How about getting that mockup copy back to your computer. We all know that Cricut does not allow you to save to our computers. Hope they will soon change this to be an option.
I've never tried but you would have to seal/stain the wood first. I think the foam would hold up outside, especially after being painted with mod podge
These are really cute to make for yourself but to sell? I’m just not sure. How would you advertise this as it not being real wood and made from foam? While it looks like real wood I’m just not sure customers would like to buy something that looks like wood but is really foam. ..(and I’m not trying to be rude or argumentative I’m honestly asking this to you or for anyone else’s opinions out there.)
It looks fantastic and just as real as wood. Just advertise as wood and foam signs. Or just call them “signs”. I don’t mind if a wood sign is vinyl or painted. I don’t think customers would mind as they aren’t going to walk up to it on their wall and feel it. If they do, spray the foam with some sort of an acrylic spray to harden it up. It’s all about appearance. Plus I would guess that the price would be a lot cheaper than using real wood. Which is always a bonus in my opinion! ❤
I love the idea but the cuts the machine made are awful. There are a lot of ragged edges on the letters. Also, there was a strange humming sound every time you showed anything in Design space :(
I'm curious how the cuts would come out with the knife blade. You could also try cutting deeper with a custom setting. I think this technique could be perfected with a little more practice. I'm sorry about the annoying sound I have an issue with the screen recorder picking up the sound of my laptop fans running. I have a new mic coming soon. Thanks for your feedback!
Wait?! So you cut craft foam??? omg i thought the cricut would cut wood. Soo smart!!

Same! This looks exactly the same as raised wood letters!
They look like the laser cut wood, but unfortunately they won't sell once people know it's foam and not wood that's just how people think
How fun to see a technique card makers have used for years on a home decor project like this! YAY!!!
