Yeah the same happens with Apple and Android. Android is way better on specs, but Iphones score better at benchmarks. And at everyday applications they perform smoothly(Because they have their own API's). So Iphones don't need more than 2 GB of RAM. And is the same for the 3DS and this custom made Gameboy.
+Tom Golden Exactly my point. In this scenario, 3DS games would be much better optimized on a 3DS (like your example with Apple), yet the Pi Zero is more powerful (like android). The Pi Zero is still more powerful 'technically' but the 3DS may run games better due to superior optimization.
Do note that if you're going to talk about either one being more powerful, you should also consider the GPU's of both devices and how those relate to power consumption. It really all depends on how you define something being "powerful". But technically speaking, you're right.
people always tend to see something lightly when it comes to a conversation about ethnics, but believe me son in a wider society than your neighbor, manner and etiquette will always be your only friend to blend in any kind of social life, better learn than regret later, after all, what's the difficult to be a kind person ?
+KamenGamerRetro Tell that to any iPhone ever who sacrifices functionality for the sole reason of making people pay more. Or to a lot of other popular devices like Galaxy S7 edge which doesn't have any way of being held without accidentally triggering the screen.
I wish I had the money for something like this. The fact it looks well polished makes this a quality item. I also saw no lag in the demo, which makes it even better. I just wish I had the cash on hand to do something like this.
It took me two years but I finally watched the video. Nice work! 👍 If I had more than two friends (that are busy with college), then I would want to build one of these with them.
incredible I think 250 isn't bad especially when considering the versatility of this masterpiece . I just don't have 250 right now but when I do its straight to you .
+ProCreeper 2000 And how much of that $250 would actually get to the families that need it and not the warlords that are destroying their lives? Seems to me you have either a computer or a internet capable cell phone? Why didn't you feed Africa with that money instead?
+Ross v Why would you even waste money on this junk? why not just buy a gameboy advance sp from amazon with a flash cart, you could probably even get it cheaper than 250, it's far from a masterpiece
And here I was thinking of MAYBE buying one, but $250 is way overkill for something like this. I can buy a 3ds and play all of them games (besides sony ofc) or even an xbox1 with 250 bucks
Yeah, the whole point of it being so tiny and made of cheap material is that it's cheap as hell. It's only really playable if you hook it up to your own tv and your own USB controller as well. Anything more than 25 bucks is too much. I get that it's just him buying these components and assembling them and that makes it more expensive, but at 250 dollars, it simply is not worth the money. It's very cool though.
Time jump to 2024 & we got Anbernic out here making BIG Retro moves‼️ I remember watching this back in the day & my mind was blown 🤯 Now I see this & im like “yea… that’s cool I guess” 😂
Hmm it seems like projects like this may be getting too small to be comfortably/practically used. Perhaps a more smartphone esque approach of using a 5 roughly inch diagonal housing and focusing on thickness might work better for usability.
It's really awesome such a small device can do all of this. But it's not worth to buy. Yeah, it's really awesome, but nothing I would like to play games with.
This thing is amazing I am already starting to save up to get one thank you so much for the option to buy this amazing product so that nubes like me don't have to do it
+Rasmus Hauschild could I do layaway plus could I buy the parts my self and ship it where you you so I can save 30 I use Amazon free shipping could I do that
I'm just imagining if someone went time travelling to the 80-90s and showed the people there this device, damn . . . Even right now for me, damn that's a cool thing!
it's unfortunate the quality of the console looks lackluster, buttons are lopsided and don't look very smooth, aswell as the fact that it doesn't have enough buttons to support many of the games "compatible" with the system.
i mean the system and the concept looks great, but for $250 it's hard not to be critical of it when most of the games that would be desired would be kinda unuseable, this is just me, maybe other people would be using it for different things. But for me the main thing is the lack of required buttons, the concept is certainly fantastic, but the execution needs some smoothing out. the main reason i'm so critical is cuz it's disappointing because it is such a great idea/concept but held back bye things that seem like would be obvious or easily fixed for someone who specializes in this type of thing.
+heyseus chang the quality of the surface of the console is as clean as home 3D printing allows it to be. I am working together with Dagoma.fr to make a kit of it, and with rose colored gaming to make a finished product. But thank you for giving me a little bit of positive feedback, it helps a lot :)
+heyseus chang I don't think you can get an accurate representation of material quality from a video. And after all, this his 'newest Raspberry PI portable' so likely the first prototype of this portable.
Very nice project! Amazing you prove this works and it is the future. This with solar panel dongle. If you got a pack of lithium batteries and solar with converter for 220v beside of your machine, you got everything in one small device ....it is possible now :) )))Great thank you for your contributions
This is a really neat device, especially considering how much youre cramming into a tiny package. However, it honestly looks too small for most people. That, with a limited control scheme, will definitely limit enjoyment of 32-bit and 64-bit games. Really neat little box though.
@Rasmus Hauschild If you're recording with any dslr/camcorder, look for a frame rate option to fix screen flicker. The reason is that the two are not synced right.

People need to stop being mad about the price seriously this is would be well worth it the amount of time to buid and design this must be really difficult. Give this guy a break.
Pretty good concept especially if you don't want to carry a laptop or console for classic gaming. The problem has been the price with that I might as well hack my phone to play Emulators at this rate. I understand the cost and is reasonable regardless this pretty cool I give you props for this good video overall
I know you said not to fill the comment section with this stuff, but I just want to put my opinion out there, first off, I think this idea is cool as hell. super portable, super gimmicky, but very purpose fulfilling. I would love to put this on a key chain and take it with me everywhere, however, with so many emulators available on Google play, I wouldn't pay any more than $50 for the system. I know you're making them yourself, and I know it is worth it for you, but it's not that worth it for us consumers.
You know somebody's written a software driver to do sound through one of the GPIOs, modulating it with PWM. I think you get something like 6-bit audio at 40KHz. Would be worth adding that. For the mostly square waves that consoles output, it wouldn't sound too bad.
PERFECT FOR SOMEONE WITH BIG HANDS that thing really is small though, i could take my DS but i wouldnt have an SNES or other game consoles on it. so i like it even though i dont have it
Incredible to think that this is technically more powerful than a 3DS console
+HydraHead9 Not more powerful, but more versatile at least.
+Ever Trejo erm.. 3DS has a 266mhz Dual core CPU and 64mb of ram. PI Zero has 1ghz CPU and 512mb of ram, so it is way more powerful.

My inner child is now throwing a tantrum to my adult self to build this for him.
Lol
well, do it
"The creative mind is the child that survived."
looks totally uncomfortable but it's a nice concept.
is it VR ready
If you put on glasses it's like you're in the same room with the gameboy.
Really impressive technology.
+Tuschi dafuq. haha
you can sell it at chinese and thai pawn shops if thats vr read to you?
vive is better scrublord
All current VR headsets are subpar and suck, Tape a 4k monitor to your face scrub
im am asian and i have HUGE trouble pleasing my woman. thanks to this, she can finally play with something small and have fun aswell.
The fuck man ?!! it's kinda offensive for some people you know ? why spread the hate ? duh
+aahhhw heres Oh shut the hell up. People take everything too seriously now.
people always tend to see something lightly when it comes to a conversation about ethnics, but believe me son in a wider society than your neighbor, manner and etiquette will always be your only friend to blend in any kind of social life, better learn than regret later, after all, what's the difficult to be a kind person ?
you're fucking awesome
Fuck you
This would be the most badass keychain ever.
I actually wouldn't really put it on a key :/
+Ross Geller i agree!!!
Ross Geller i
Impressive work man. The concept is there, the practicality isn't, but hell, what does that matter anyway? hehe. Very nice work!
That looks awkward to control considering how tiny it is.
yah,but still cool.
its a concept design more than a functional design
This is not a device this is craftsmanship
+KamenGamerRetro Tell that to any iPhone ever who sacrifices functionality for the sole reason of making people pay more. Or to a lot of other popular devices like Galaxy S7 edge which doesn't have any way of being held without accidentally triggering the screen.
AWMartin lol
It literally looks like BMO
As opposed to figuratively looking like BMO?
Yup
yeah it does :D
YO I DOESSS xD
You mean BMO was designed to look like a Gameboy?? MIND BLOWN
I wish I had the money for something like this. The fact it looks well polished makes this a quality item. I also saw no lag in the demo, which makes it even better. I just wish I had the cash on hand to do something like this.
That's really cool, looks like a dreamcast vmu.
How cool!! This could be a gameboy key chain xD
I agree this would be perfect as gameboy key chain but i wonder is it Waterproof or resistant
Nice key chain for 250 bux
what is this?
a Gameboy for ants?
LOL
Paul Rudd would be happy
mini beemo from adventure time
yes
r/thingsforants
people build amazing things. So crazy you can have this in such a small form.
It took me two years but I finally watched the video. Nice work! 👍
If I had more than two friends (that are busy with college), then I would want to build one of these with them.
what is this, a gameboy for ants?
+DynamicHunter No, it's for humans - sorry.
lmao it was a reference to Zoolander
+DynamicHunter
I don't wanna hear your excuses! The gameboy has to be at least...three times bigger than this.
+Braden Best www.thingiverse.com/thing:939901
Rasmus Hauschild
Realtalk though, it's a neat project. Props.
Good luck with your production, nice design.
No sound??
he doesnt have speakers in the handheld itself. but the sound will work when hooked up to a tv
***** you would have to install one if possible
+Doomz1337
Not on the pi zero
No headphone jack but it has a lightning connector
Would you like WIfi with it as well? Or maybe PS4 graphics? >.>
Damn the programming seems pretty simple just load an emu on startup but the hardware engineering is top notch you earned a like
This is one of the best builds I have ever seen. I love it.
Thank you very much! :)
incredible I think 250 isn't bad especially when considering the versatility of this masterpiece . I just don't have 250 right now but when I do its straight to you .
+ProCreeper 2000 i cant tell if this a joke or not anymore lol
+ProCreeper 2000 And how much of that $250 would actually get to the families that need it and not the warlords that are destroying their lives? Seems to me you have either a computer or a internet capable cell phone? Why didn't you feed Africa with that money instead?
+Gavin Atkin rekt.
+ProCreeper 2000 give them $250 then.....
+Ross v Why would you even waste money on this junk? why not just buy a gameboy advance sp from amazon with a flash cart, you could probably even get it cheaper than 250, it's far from a masterpiece
$250? Better buy a 3ds.
Or save it up and put it towards a NX.
U don't like 3ds?
I bought a 3DS XL just before the NX was announced. ;~;
Still Saving u.u
Alexander Arellano Nothing wrong with the 3DS, I love mine. But if I got $250 right now I 'm putting that towards the NX.
And here I was thinking of MAYBE buying one, but $250 is way overkill for something like this. I can buy a 3ds and play all of them games (besides sony ofc) or even an xbox1 with 250 bucks
ikr it looks like its worth 20 dollars
***** Even all the more reason then.
Or use an emulator and play them all for free
you can play n64 on the 3ds?
Yeah, the whole point of it being so tiny and made of cheap material is that it's cheap as hell. It's only really playable if you hook it up to your own tv and your own USB controller as well. Anything more than 25 bucks is too much. I get that it's just him buying these components and assembling them and that makes it more expensive, but at 250 dollars, it simply is not worth the money. This video should be titled, fastest way to get yourself using glasses.
Time jump to 2024 & we got Anbernic out here making BIG Retro moves‼️
I remember watching this back in the day & my mind was blown 🤯
Now I see this & im like “yea… that’s cool I guess” 😂
This surely is a cool thing, but gaming with such tiny buttons wouldn't be that comfortable.
yeah but imagine having that on your key chain, have a quick 20 minute blast on a classic while waiting/pooping haha
+Gigidag77 ive seen you somewhere on the internet before
furfag
Miguel Herrera do your research before commenting about furries, plus you flat out offended me because my sister is a furry
Miguel Herrera sorry but that didn't make sense. 😕
I'm just surprised it does 3d rendering.
John Maksym ikr
Wait... aren’t you supposed to be on copper cube videos?
Nice work mate! Audio should be supported on a next version?
Thanks! A new video is going up in a couple of days :)
You could get Audio from the Pi with PWM on 2 GPIO Pins.
yep
This is the coolest thing I have seen in a long time.
looks really fun to hold and not at all uncomfortable
well done
perfect for school!
Hmm it seems like projects like this may be getting too small to be comfortably/practically used. Perhaps a more smartphone esque approach of using a 5 roughly inch diagonal housing and focusing on thickness might work better for usability.
+Jackpkmn I made this one a while ago: www.thingiverse.com/thing:939901
It's really awesome such a small device can do all of this.
But it's not worth to buy.
Yeah, it's really awesome, but nothing I would like to play games with.
I love your voice. The computer text reading voice.
GEEZ! Talk about portable! Amazing job with one of my favorite comouters!
This thing is amazing I am already starting to save up to get one thank you so much for the option to buy this amazing product so that nubes like me don't have to do it
Thanks a lot :D
just get a real one. Used its only like $40 - $70.
+Rasmus Hauschild could I do layaway plus could I buy the parts my self and ship it where you you so I can save 30 I use Amazon free shipping could I do that
A brilliant way to ruin your farsightedness
A brilliant way of training your near vision :)
lol
It's cool that it's small and all that, but isn't it a little too small to be practical?
This is amazing I’m so sad it’s no longer available for purchase, I’d prefer this compared to the larger model
props for getting it that small, but since its that small it looks too difficult to play
It kinda looks like BMO.
Does it come with all the emulators and some roms?
Thats seems impractically small
+The IrRegular Show Perhaps larger parts are either unavailable or just too expensive to justify buying
+The IrRegular Show I made this a while ago: www.thingiverse.com/thing:939901
I'm just imagining if someone went time travelling to the 80-90s and showed the people there this device, damn . . . Even right now for me, damn that's a cool thing!
Very cool I really like you did the multi color SuperFamicom buttons - nice little touch.
it's unfortunate the quality of the console looks lackluster, buttons are lopsided and don't look very smooth, aswell as the fact that it doesn't have enough buttons to support many of the games "compatible" with the system.

Triggered?
+NeonPlays mind yo fucking business, bill gluckman ass nigga
DMac LaFlare First off, what business. Second, who tf is Bill Gluckman
Nobody gets this reference...
NeonPlays You don't get the reference, dipshit.
Amazing! I never believed something like this could be made!
man u really have the talent for this
this is amazing but wish it was a bit bigger lol ill go cross eye on that display
LOL, I made this a while back :) www.thingiverse.com/thing:939901
sir that was beautiful llol do you have lipo battery to power that system ?
Sure, it's 7500mAh :)
great work wish to build some similar down the line
do you still make these?
What is this? A handheld for ants?
It needs to be at least... 3 times this big!
+Kangus Badangus i made this a head ago: www.thingiverse.com/thing:939901
omg dude that is so fucking awesome. incredible as hell.
Thanks :)
This is completely EPIC! EXOLLENT EXOLLENT job my friend
its amazing to think that all of those consoles were put into such a tiny device
technology is advancing past comprehension
but why? who in their right mind would use this to play a full game?
Looks cool, but incredibly impractical.
I really want to get one but $250 is a little to much for me but i would go for maybe $150
Same
or find someone who can 3d print the case, buy the board for around 25 bucks, the screen for maybe 30 and put it together.
Very nice project! Amazing you prove this works and it is the future. This with solar panel dongle. If you got a pack of lithium batteries and solar with converter for 220v beside of your machine, you got everything in one small device ....it is possible now :) )))Great thank you for your contributions
A Playstation, Nintendo 64, Gameboy, NES, SNES, GBA, and all for just $250? Boi, count me in.
needs a smaller screen
wowowoow this is so cute 😻
Thank you :)

I need this thing..
email him his email address is in the description. it is $250 I think
Hack That fuck that
That is very cheap if you consider it really.
zawzero not in my dollar range
Not cheap considering it's a TINY DEVICE.I could buy a PS4 with that money.
This is a really neat device, especially considering how much youre cramming into a tiny package. However, it honestly looks too small for most people. That, with a limited control scheme, will definitely limit enjoyment of 32-bit and 64-bit games. Really neat little box though.
"hey, this is pretty tiny" best thats what she said moment XD
it's too small
can you watch porn on it?
its too big
The fact that it is so small is awesome!
...Wouldn't pay $250 for it though.
Rasmus, Both projects are really nice! congrats!! keep going!!!
$250 and you can't even properly align the display on your glorified keychain?
Hahah that thing would suck for with bad eyes who cant afford to get good glasses or contacts
rip poor nigga
paying 250 for a console but cant afford the glasses to look at it lmfao
I can buy pstv for half of this price
That's correct
Jason Born I could even buy a 3ds
True

holy shit. so small but yet so powerful

The force is strong with this one.
@Rasmus Hauschild
If you're recording with any dslr/camcorder, look for a frame rate option to fix screen flicker. The reason is that the two are not synced right.
No speaker tho
The video is cutted all the time you try out to play game... I think it's fake
Someone is clearly envious......
Are you kidding me? Have you seen that screen? You can't see anything clear with that screen man. And you are saying I'm "clearly" envious
Hurr dur its a portable console, you connect it to a tv or pc monitor....
have you never heard of raspberry pi?
MrFRNTIK I've never heard of them till this video and even i can see this is legit, not sure why the guy thinks its fake because of a few edits in the video.
+Rasmus Hauschild, why don't you put this project on kickstarter? You could actually make some money, and, due to the larger number of orders, you could have better deals for all the components (reducing the overall costs and/or having more margin).
tooo cute!! i would love to see a transparent version or even pink
The lack of audio is a bit of a down side to it, but other than that, it's a cute neat little gadget that functions properly.
A beauty project Rasmus!
This is too cool, very cool, I want one just like this one, but I'll add a keychain part to it and keep it on my keys :D lol
i love miniature shit, dude this is sweet
That is really awesome, but I think playing on this could really strain your eyes
3D image.. ON A TINY LITTLE LCD GAMEBOY..... AWSOME!!!
And then can connect trough a large TV... HOLY SHIT THAT WAS AWSOME
When he played Super Mario 64 on that, I was amazed.
How cramped do your hands get after playing that for 20 seconds?
I know you said not to fill the comment section with this stuff, but I just want to put my opinion out there, first off, I think this idea is cool as hell. super portable, super gimmicky, but very purpose fulfilling. Nintendo would be amazed by this guy
wait... the n64 had like all the c buttons and the z trigger that were often used, how does that work?
Connect an external gamepad
+Rasmus Hauschild ah yes, thanks for the surprisingly quick answer, you're awsome!
Noice
how much did this used to sell for?
That is so impracticable. Try playing it when it's that sized for more then a hour.
no gameplay sound?
hard to believe a tiny little thing can play all those high quality games there has to be a catch towards it like converting.
That's crazy, but my choice would be a DMG gameboy. This is just epic though, my hat is completely off to you and I'm not putting it back on. Ever.
You know somebody's written a software driver to do sound through one of the GPIOs, modulating it with PWM. I think you get something like 6-bit audio at 40KHz. Would be worth adding that. For the mostly square waves that consoles output, it wouldn't sound too bad.

that thing really is small though, i could take my DS but i wouldnt have an SNES or other game consoles on it. so i like it even though i dont have it
btw the first thing was sarcasm
