Taking bets on whether or not the Zero 4 will be $10.
Hopefully
It's criminal that they are calling it "Zero" but charging more the $0. What happened to a little thing called Truth in Advertising?
They used your a part of your video on the Amazon page
@@xdoxstudios5218 Holy crap they did! Like 2 mins of it.
unlikely.. the amazon link is now up to $23/board for the cheapest 1gig model
Can you post a guide about the screen and controller setup you used for this. I think it would be cool. I'm sure I'm not alone in this 😂
I was thinking the same thing.
Def not alone
I know that the pad is a gamesir x2 pro, or maybe the non pro, it's the Bluetooth version. I can personally recommend the usb-c wired x2 pro, great controller, everything is clicky so if you prefer membrane maybe go with a backbone, the triggers are above average and the sticks are perfectly serviceable as well.
5.5 inch HDMI AMOLED Display XYGStudy (amazon) looks similar, these mini monitors for the Pis dont seem to have a backplate from what I'm seeing
Controller: Gamer Sir x2 Controller
I can't post a link to the screen because youtube deletes my replies, but search for OLED Raspberry Pi Touchscreen 5.5 Inch
Gonna have to do your own digging from there though.
Orange Pi's always had serious SW & support difficulties 😩
It's a real shame because their HW is awesome 👍
Take a look at the Armbian project for a working Orange Pi operating system.
I am working on getting dietpi working on it, will update this comment lf I succeed
Update: didnt get it to work with dietpi, however there is an experimental armbian build that I tried, it worked really well.
Truth
Porting an older version of android will probably be a better bet. We still have pretty much full compatibility with Dolphin and Aether with some of the older builds. That being said, we need a brave soul to get one of those legacy android builds to run specifically with this hardware.
Can you share more details on the screen / controller combo you have going on? I've been wanting something like this for ages for several use cases. Thanks so much for all the hard work!
same
so many memories with that showing of the grinch. i need to go back and actually play it since i didn’t get passed the beginning when i was 8
14:18 - Enabling the GPU on Linux is very easy, it already comes with the firmware module and mesa drivers. I think there are two options to enable it, either by manually editing the dtb file to enable the gpu module, or using the orangepi-config tool that comes with their OS, there is a "gpu" checkbox in one of the submenus. Manually editing the DTB works, ive done it.
Для новичка это не очевидно
Это тоже была моя мысль, @@miravi5547 .
That's great, but not exactly Linux noob-friendly. If I had one of these boards it would be used for Linux. Android is hopeless in comparison.
Thanks for the video, I was looking at this for a small htpc.
Links to the monitor and Bluetooth controller? Looks like a great set! Love to pickup that combo
i have onn 4k tv box got it $19.88 from wallmart it comes with remote and cables it s great for emulators
What's the controller/screen you're using?
I ordered 2x Zero 3 (1x 2GB & 1x 4GB)... Should be more than enough for Klipper
It’s a common theme for most Chinese SBC manufacturers to not add GPU drivers support.
They know that their customers base don’t demand it, and UA-camr’s like yourself help sell these boards really well for them. But at least you did cover the lack of GPU support so the educated audience can wait until Orange Pi gets their act together.
The reason is simple. There is no point for them to add any additional effort to include GPU support when they haven’t from the beginning, and we’re still able to sell their products.
I'm pretty sure Allwinner is just too cheap to pay ARM for the Linux drivers since they created this processor to be an Android TV box chip. Linux wasn't their intended use, so they can save money.
Тут уже писали, что поддержка гпу в линукс есть, её надо только активировать
@@miravi5547 How?
Thank you! waiting for the first review of this device! my copy is on the way! I'll be waiting for your review regarding gpu dryers on linux.
What screen and controller is that? Looks nice
Exact reason I came into comments
I think that the gamepad is the Gamesir x2 Bluetooth
@nicolasopazo1199 Thank you. That and a phone sized hdmi portable monitor. Been thinking of something like this for my own setup but was looking for an all in one setup. Still this is pretty small and cool to cobble together
Not bad for what it is. Allwinner do tend to get toasty though and seem to get les support than Rockchip or AMLogic. Hardware acceleration will be a must for Linux.
neat little sbc. i almost wanna swap out my pi zero 2 w if that sbc fixes its issues it has right now.
What's SBC stand for?
@@joshualioi5144 single board computer. its what like the Pi's are, and the other boards of this function
@@AlteredCarbons oo thank you! I didn't know for real, and I own a few pies.
@@joshualioi5144 its all good man. i love answering questions. its what everyone should do for people
what is the hdmi display you are using
It's always crazy to me that these consoles that cost like $200 worth of hardware (not even accounting for the fact they usually sold consoles at a loss, and adjusted for inflation it's around $388 in today's money) can be so easily ran on a $15 little board in the modern era. Makes me wonder if in another 20-30 years we'll be emulating the PS5 on a little $20 SBC lmao
probably not since we're getting close to how small of transistors we can make
@@midosytyeah but our chips are mostly 2D, I think we have a very long way to go.
Misleading. This board is not going to be able to run accurate emulation for 30 year old games.
@@midosyt We are already running console games on phones. I can totally see in 20-30 years a SBC running ps5 stuff. Just cause the transistors aren't getting any smaller doesn't mean we aren't working on newer technologies that are making those transistors better at what they do. Coupled with better designs and microarchitecture - the future is promising!
It's clear to me that's not gonna happen mainly due to physical constraints at transistor and power level.
On a note, game tend not to need more CPU processing power, which is ther harder part of emulation, much of the evolution will be on graphics which costs slim to none on emulating and often can be leveraged by lowering resolution from 8192x4320 to "low res" full HD.
That is, of course, if no revolutionary step happens, which we can't be sure at the time.
its easy to forget how miles ahead HL2 looked when it came out. it looked then like how cyberpunk looked or like hell blade did.
I noticed SanDisk cards have comparability issues with some things for example I tried to use one for my PS2 (I got a hacked memory card that used micro SD) and every other card other than the SanDisk one. For that reason I avoid them.
It's amazing that you can match Nintendo Switch CPU performance with this thing!
What is that screen? That's the gamesir controller, right? I want a screen that fits like that.
ua-cam.com/video/Af99a-VfqwU/v-deo.html&ab_channel=TakiUdon
Great video, what screen are you using?
He was teaching his son about electronics?
I thought Taki was 15 💀😂😂
I might have missed this but did you do your tests on the base 1 go model or did you use a different model.
Is there a video on that screen? I'm really curious about it
Thanks for a great video! By the way, did the Sandisk card use GPT or MBR partitions? That might be the problem.
The Grinch game at 11:46 is PS1, not Dreamcast :)
What screen and controller are you using?
This being this cheap and running N64 decently makes me wonder why the retro handhelds that can do N64 are so expensive. Either way this thing seems like a real bargain
Maybe power consumption? This one is running off DC. Handhelds run on batteries. So, they need to use chips that can do the work very power-efficiently, which probably costs more.
@@typingcat Yeah that makes sense actually
Amazing video.....Dude go ahead 🎉
Would something like this be good for torrenting and playing on 4k TV? There are free courses and other stuff that I can't download on my TV and I don't want to have my laptop on 24/7 to download files.
On Android, yes.
nice nails bro. very clean.
What screen are you using?
Is there a way to install android 11 or android 10? I tried but the board wont load. I think you need a specific version for this board. Also I have tried the ReArmIt, Retro Orange Pi and no success either 😢
Im trying too, when i get a version i’ll use this coment to tell u how i did
What size of RAM did you get? Do you recommend that size or a different one?
What screen and controller are you using for this video? Thank you in advance.
I like to know to it is awesome looking
Wish it was actually a 'zero' form factor so I could put it in my gpi.
Can you do the Orange Pi 5? Would be cool to see if you can get Proton + FEX working
Which ram configuration do you recommend for Android gaming and emulation?
I have a device that requires flashing with a high speed card. It might be that the first card you use is not a high speed card.
Would you be willing to make a written guide for setup? I'm very new to emulation (not to gaming as I repair multiple OEMs). The furthest I dipped my toe into it, is Garlic on RG35XX and Miyoo OS on the PK Q90. If I pick this up it will be my first Pi. Any help is appreciated.
does it do analog (composite) video out, so could I use it on a CRT tv?
If you buy the $2 IO board, it will do AV to composite, so you could use it on a CRT.
@@TakiUdon nice! Thanks
You could 3d print a case might be fun to make 🤷🏾♂️
It kind of bothers me that on the Amazon store page it sounds like they're using your UA-cam video in their previews. But I don't see a link to this video or even your name
What screen are you using? Interested to buy

Can i rec speedruns in this "orange pi" with ssd? Like Ubuntu?
Rabbitstation!
Duckstation!
Rabbitstation!
I have no idea why they shrank the pcb, but I can only assume it was to cut costs. Since the ports are so different i guess it doesn't matter if the screw holes are the same as the previous board.
He never mentioned how much RAM his orangepi has, anyone know?
I will wait from you for a test of ps2 ps3 switch emulators, please do a test
I'd clone the OV card to the Sandisk
Good idea
so whats to handheld are you using in this video?
It's an HDMI screen and a GameSir controller
@@TakiUdondo you have a link for a screen of that size? or the exact same one preferably
I think there's a batocera distro för orange pi.
This is why I can't trust what the Raspberry Pi Foundation says. Every SBC competitor in the world can manage to produce products but them.
Man, i wonder why orangepi isn't as popular as rpi...
I would think the unfortunet thing was that it has micro hdmi Everywhere I look every reviewer trashes that medium
Would this be suitable as a content source for an LCD panel with photo and video advertising?
i think this would. be a great IPTV device
Saturn?
Possible, but it's a little annoying.
@@TakiUdon I really, REALLY, wish Yaba Sanshiro or a fork of SSF would become open source.
I mean, I'm grateful for YS 2's existence on Android, and the pre Alpha build of SSF I tried a few months back is promising, but Saturn emulation could be so much better. You just can't have, on one side, a system as hard to emulate as the Saturn, and on the other, years of missing hotfixes, updates, and general advancements in emulation on SBCs...
Thanks for the reply dude.
can you make tutorial for installing dig?
Which hdmi screen is that
Bro, Whats the name of the screen and bluetooth controller that u r using?
Could this perhaps be used as a head unit in a car?
What gamepad controller is your using ?
How did you do the ADB??
what bluetooth controller is that please?

HEY I HAVE ASKED THIS QUESTION 3 TIMES. BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN ANSWER ANYONE KNOW HOW MUCH RAM HIS ORANGEPI HAS? MANY PEOPLE USE THE CHEAP PRICE OF THE 1GB MODEL AND THEN FEATURE THE 4GB VERSION IN THEIR VIDEOS. IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE. HOW MUCH RAM DOES THIS HAVE? HOW MUCH RAM DOES VANILLA ANDROID USE? WILL A 1GB MODEL RUN IT?
one of his comments say "1GB for Android and 4GB for Linux"
Can't you just ln aka symbolic link the file?
Hey, I've bought a opi zero 3 recently and for some reason I can't get the Android image (provided by the main site) wrote in my microsd (via dd on Linux). Is there a workaround for this or I'm -REALLY- forced to use Windows? Thanks in advance.
I dicked around with no luck for a couple weeks, then gave up, downloaded Windows 10 to install on an old PC. I burned some Android images, dd sucked em into img files on my Debian box, and got the hell out of dodge. Now it's all dd, all the way. Hopefully that's the last time I'll ever venture into the 9th circle.
Orange Pi Zero 3 is not the right board for you if you're simply interested in running Android simply because Orange Pi Zero 3 was designed to be an IoT board. There are other devices you can use for this. The Orange Pi Zero 3 seems to be a very good board for the people that need it (like me). I'd buy a 4GB RAM option and run Linux on it to make various projects with it.
Bluetooth controller no lag?
But is it better than the $10 calculator?
what is that thing that looks like a nintendo switch?
the link in the description for the screen isn't working
Wish LG would put these in their TVs. The builtin CPU sucks.
I'm assuming a raspberry pi 4 build wouldn't work on this seamlessly right? Dumb question I know but if it can I'd love to swap it over to this. My pi 4 isn't doing so hot haha
I am so deeply excited, the time has finally come that this wave of pi’s are “outdated” hahahah hold my fuckin soldering gun
How good is steamplay & moonlight on this?
Could you tell me which version of Android TV you are using? The one I have installed does not allow to activate the developer mode.
Android12_v1.0

@@TakiUdon Thanks for replying, I managed to install duckstation and boot the bios, using adb to move it into Android/data/... I can't read game ROMs though, whatever format I use. What format did you use for the ROMs? What folder should I put them in?
@@TakiUdon Please do not ignore my question. I bought the device after watching your video and after more than a week of trying to get it working I finally managed to get the bios to start. I just need to figure out how to put those damn roms in such a way that duckstation can read them.
they don't ship to Germany, what a bummer :(
15 dólares? Donde
Can you use parsec on it
Im planning to buy these cheap sbc for plex server but Im not sure if they are capable enough.
Im only planning to stream 1080p max.
Can you please do a benchmark for plex? thank you
I would go towards a A55 chip and 4GB of ram for Plex
What screen is that?
Hey man! I know this is sorta off topic, but could you help me out? I’m looking for a handheld emulator that can play ds and n64 and up to Dreamcast. Preferably around 100 dollars, any recommendation? Thanks!
If you can grab a used Retroid Pocket 2+ or Retroid Pocket 3, that will be the best thing you can get for around $100 for those systems.
I really recommend the RG353PS Gameboy Tribute handheld from Ali-Express with Bluetooth and HDMI out for TV play when you want it with a controller.
@@michaeldemers2716 ended up getting the rg353v!
Was all this on the 1GB version? Sorry if I missed it from your video.
Would running emulators on Linux run slower?
Android works with touchscreen ?
$15? I dont see any out there for that price.
Does android 13 fix this storage issue
WOW! HL2 looks WAY better than doom 3.
tbh always has.
could i use this board to turn it into a plex server?

What is that screen you were using?
A DIY 5.5" AMOLED screen
@@TakiUdon
Thanks for the response but I have another question. After I saw this video I went and saw your tow DIY handheld videos were you used this screen and I'm thinking on doing something similar as I already own a portable mini gaming PC so I'll be ordering this screen soon but my question is what controller would you recommend I use because the one that you used (Flydigi Wee2T Mobile Game Controller) is out of of stock? The other one you used is nice (Haibinsuo Mobile Controller Video-Game MOCUTE-060) but I have a couple of controllers im seriously considering for this, wish one of this would you recommend I used:
1- PowerA MOGA XP7-X Plus
2- RIG Nacon MG-X PRO
3- SHAKS S5b Wireless Gamepad Controller
4- Turtle Beach Atom Mobile Game Controller
How much ram did your model have?
1GB for Android and 4GB for Linux.
The raspberry pi 4 with a current version of mame can not run mslug at 100%. The raspberry pi 4 has a faster processor than the orange pi zero 3. Saying that it is amazing for emulation is grossly misleading. Is it a value? Maybe.
On German Amazon they are still heavily overpriced.
they are highly overpriced in the USA Amazon too
the fact that my most powerful pc has a 3rd gen i3 and 4gb ram makes me sad.
