I'll be dead honest m8, I'm not shocked your still around but I was some of the earliest subs and your content got me feeling old 😂 lolol just dropping in a recent vid to say thanks for being familiar and cozy content, it's 10/10 why yt should exist and its roots. Great stuff hope you are well and continue as such!!
Thanks for sticking around and hanging out with me. I love sharing these stories. I may never be the best, but in my niche I'll always be "first" LOL (I'm not actually the first one to do things like I do, but not many accounts in the gardening / homesteading niche go back before 2010).
I raise and keep Jumbo Brown Corturnix quails. That pen is 4'x2' that's 8sq ft. Texas A&M has done studies that show quail do best when kept 3-4 quail per 1 sq ft. You can easily keep 24-32 birds in that setup fully grown and they would do amazing! Also remember to keep 1 Rooster per 4 hens. Not to tell you what to do of course. Lonestar degree in ffa and agriculture just advice 😊
Thank you very much for the info. I have a challenge right now with the eggs not being fertile. I tried to hatch some recently and none of the appeared to be fertile. The rooster to hen ratio is as you stated, but maybe something in the environment is causing the roosters to not do their job? I'd love to figure this out or my quail days may be limited.
It's funny how each project creates new projects LOL. Actually I recently (after this video) did make a working table, but now I just have to try really really hard to not let it get covered with stuff so I can actually work on it.
Oh I like your cage setup sooo much better than what I was about to do. This is a style I feel more comfortable tackling. I might just add an egg rollout. Do you find that they poo in their sandbox alot or do they keep it pretty clean?
They poop everywhere. I use a small sifter to get the bulk out of the sandbox. Every now and then I'll change the sand. I hope to make a new video soon to show what I feel like I've done right and what I've done wrong with the cages. Mostly I love this setup.
I don't, but I'll detail that in the next Quail video where I talk about the cages pros and cons. This is a video on my list of videos to produce... just time.
The mask is very nice to put on over glasses! Here's a link to the product. This is an affiliate link, if you purchase the mask with the link I'll receive a small commission from Amazon, but it will not cost you anything more. Thank you. amzn.to/3Nax4oh
Kimberly, I made a little note on the video about it about how I'll talk more about that in the next video. I've learned a few things about the sandbox that I'd like to share.
I've always enjoyed following your homesteading Journey. Really enjoy seeing everything you do on your farm. Thanks Blake!
Those will be nice cages for quail. Love the tip for putting the locks upside down.
Absolutely beautiful. You are good woodworker. Love the techniques that you use to do things. you do it your way. Wonderful job sir.
Thank you Tim!
Good to see your videoes in the feed again! Great craftsmanship!

I'd say 20 since you have the sandbox :)

Glad to see your videos. Sorry to know about that accident on your cheek. Greetings from a far-off land.
You need to make a working table for yourself. Nice cage.

@@daddykirbs The more you make the more ideas you get. I got my idea for making a cage by watching videos like yours.
How have the cages held up?

@@daddykirbs yes! Do let us know what you have learned from the setup. I plan on getting started on the build in next couple weeks.
Hello happy to see you how have you been?
Do you have a video showing you building the stand?
I don't, but I'll detail that in the next Quail video where I talk about the cages pros and cons. This is a video on my list of videos to produce... just time.
Where did you get that mask, I need one I keep bending my glasses. That mask looks really wide

Right use what you have save money
You didn’t address the sandbox area, what did you line that area with to hold the sand? Thanks for the video!
Kimberly, I made a little note on the video about it about how I'll talk more about that in the next video. I've learned a few things about the sandbox that I'd like to share.
Thank you, I’ll be watching for that video.
