I really wish this Delorean was at scale to the BTTF figures, or at the very least, painted in a shinier color. The car looks like it’s still painted in primer. Great review, though!
It almost look in style for the cartoon figures but it's indeed way too small. I would gladly trade the die cast feature for a model in scale with the figures. Unfortunately we would need a pretty big figure to fit 7 inch scale ones. Even the Diamond Select is too small. I estimate that we need a Delorean about 18 inch long to be in scale with the figures.
This isn't what I expected from a NECA release. It looks cheaply made and it resembles a prototype more than it does an actual finished product. The obvious downside is that the Delorean utilizes a matte paint scheme, instead of a glossy one. It's also not scaled properly. Otherwise, thanks as always Spot. I really appreciate the hard work. Keep it up!
This looks like a toy prototype! The coils that illuminate around the Delorean are the same drab grey as the body! The interior detail is awful too, really unconvincing. The over paint on the rear lights (why wasn't clear plastic used on the light fittings?) the moulded on cable looms around the front wheel arches, which are badly painted, and more unforgivable, the badly placed licence plate sticker, the MOST ICONIC part of the Delorean! this is poor. Neca usually do good work.....not here. It would be relatively easy to remedy the bodywork (dremel and a wire brush?) but the little missed details would need more work. To not make it to scale with the figures is ridiculous too. I also noticed the "Delorean" embossed badge on the rear bumper, and the black wheel centres aren't there either! Jeez
Think I’ll stick with the Playmobil version 😂 this one looks really really weird... though I do agree it seems more like the animated version then the movie version 😊

I have the Diamond Select one as well and did a paint job on it. It bugged me that there is very little details painted and it's mostly just black. I took it apart and added a whole lot of details like all the coloured wires on the dash as well as making the part around the headlights dark grey like the real one.
@@mistermatix8241 They are almost opposite of each other. The Neca one has more painted details but that grey paint ruins it. The Diamond Select barely has any painted details but the silver paint makes it look more accurate even with all the other flaws.
Thanks for your informative video. Great as always. The £20 Welly Deloreans (think you reviewed them) are far superior and great for LED light modifications. The only decent touch here is the paint on the exhaust vents and that can just be applied to the Welly.

If I had no other available Delorean to get maybe I would get that one and do a full repaint on it. The details are not that bad and it would look good with a custom paint job. That said I am not even considering getting it because I already did a custom paint job on my Diamond Select one and I have the Kid Logic magnetic hovering one that is a bit smaller than this one but 10x more detailed. That grey paint make it look cartoony. It's die cast. It should have been been brushed to mimic stainless steel instead of painted.
It's hard for me to wrap my head around how truly awful this replica is. Sculp and paint are way off in so many places. Diamond Select and Sun Star are much better than this piece of Play-Doe. Even the Jada 1/24 scale is far superior. The Hot Wheels 'Elite' is my personal favorite and I highly recommend buying that one, but if money is no object -- then the Hot Toys 1/6 scale is very detailed and well painted. I believe the very best of the lot is the Eaglemoss kit. It is the most accurate and custom 3rd party parts are available.

The price has increased with every run they made and it's now 350$ and always sold out. The Ebay prices are ridiculous on these. I haven't picked this up yet but I'm thinking that hitting it with a clear gloss coat with a brush will go a long way to making that dull body appear to be brushed stainless steel. In fact I'm betting that it will.
A little bigger wouldn't be enough. A Delorean in scale to fit the figures would need to be around 18 inch long. Almost double the size of this one. The Diamond Select one is 30% bigger and it still doesn't fit the figures. I say drop the die cast and make one that fit the figures. That's what people want more than one they can say is die cast but is also painted grey. That die cast would only be great if it was brushed metal instead of painted.
Was going to collect this line but you can't have an undersized delorean on display hell no, and you can't exactly not have a delorean neither its the coolest part of the entire film
The interior and rear time machine gadgetry it on par with Sun Star 1/18, and better than Welly or Jada 1/24 models. The wheels and molded trim are a deal breaker for me. As stated, the gray body looks like it is based on the toons. I’d rather spend my money on the Diamond Select version.

I'm a huge BTTF fan through and through, and this model looks horrible! The didn't even do an accurate print of the license plate. The recent Playmobil model has more accurate detail.
Overall the Diamond Select one look much better because of the silver paint but it also lacks a lot of painted details. It's all just black paint. the area around the headlights and brake lights is silver when it should be a kind of dark bronze. It doesn't have the DMC logo and a lot of the interior details are just grey plastic. The Neca one is ruined by that body paint. It also doesn't help that the bumper and side rails are the exact same colour.
This is a $20 car not $50 Its very poorly finished. They cheeped out big time on this release. Wheels are awful , paint is well awful decals are poorly applied crooked no detail on bottom ect surprised Neca released this . For a 1/16 they missed the mark and poorly executed this release.
I still think the Lego one is the worst. It doesn't even look like a Delorean. The Neca one is ruined because of that grey paint job. Do the exact same model but take advantage of the die cast to do brushed metal and mimic the stainless steel and it would be pretty good. It's a shame.

I ended up picking this up to go in the background of the NECA BTTF Ultimate figures but the color is a bit jarring as you said...
Still prefer the Diamond Select version. Love how it lights up just like the film.

Just doesn't look right without the polished steel finish. Apart from that it looks great.
And it's die cast. It was made to be brushed and look real but they painted it like it was the cartoon version. A real shame.

I would strip the paint and try fine sand paper to mimic the stainless steel look and then repaint all the details on.
