- I look at the Robocop action figure that started it all. This NECA Robocop is the very first item I reviewed on the channel back in 2022. It's nice to revisit this NECA figure, but is Robocop really holding up in 2024?

I love your reviews! This movie is a master work of sci-fi and so relatable today. My only gripe with this figure, which I just got last Christmas, is that the stand (bi-pod) of my Cobra Assault Cannon broke off right away on Christmas Day 😢

I love this figure but I do think they coulda done more with the articulation, even something like butterfly joints at the shoulders and ball joints at the hips woulda gone a long way to improve poseability.

Im bummed I never saw this in stores at my local Targets and now the price is just kinda...up there. Might as well get the Mafex version since the cost difference its not that much more.

I had to pass on this one. I already have 4 robocops and the only thing i dont have is the head without his mask. Not gonna pay $50 for a head. Great video

I got the figure back in 2023 and i absolutely love it
But i will say the silver is a bit too bright, in the original movie he was bit of a dark silver
But besides that the figure rules in my eyes

My biggest complaint with this figure is how they handled the flesh part of his headsculpts. They seem to be cast in black or gray plastic, with the metallic and flesh painted on. That makes sense from a production standpoint, because there's so little flesh tone on the figure, but it doesn't make for the best looking headsculpt.
Most companies these days will cast flesh in a flesh tone plastic and leave it largely unpainted, because then it has some subsurface scattering properties that makes it look more like real skin. When it's just painted on top of black plastic, it can leave the figure looking like a porcelain doll, or someone caked in foundation makeup. NECA has been casting their figures' headsculpts in flesh tone for years now. I guess you could argue the more synthetic look suits Robocop, but I always felt the little bit of skin he has represented his last shreds of humanity.
Besides that, I think having the skin be a separate piece that's actually behind the visor and chin guard would give the headsculpt a lot of depth and make it look a lot more real. As it is, I think the way they did the headsculpts makes it look kind of dated. Not bad, and definitely the sort of thing that looks way worse on camera than in person, but I think it would've been worth adding the extra colored plastic and assembly process for the sake of making the best figure. But I'm sure I'm the only person who gives a shit.
I forget who, but either Mafex of Hiya toys have his face as a swappable plate. Works really well
When closing the leg only press the front panel. Not doing so will result in breaking. Over time the leg will most likely break anyway because the release button only latches and releases by stressing and bending the plastic. It is a feat of engineering but also a stupid design at the same time. Removing the springs helps reduce wear and tear and makes opening and closing less scary. This figure needed minor updates articulation wise since the 2011 release but Neca just got lazy. Im ok with it as a figure because we finally got Alex Murphy stuff. Fingers crossed on Lewis and Clarence Boddicker.
A Lewis is mandatory. Haha. Maybe one day we get an updated Robocop and labeled for the second film or something
@NostalgiaUnboxed I have a love/hate relationship with Neca. I love their figures, sculpts, attention to detail and willingness to take on obscure licenses and ideas. I hate their quality control, occasional painting errors and their engineering choices on moving parts. I hope they expand the line because they have a lot of Robocop already but at the same time I'd love to see what McFarlane could do nowadays. Their Robocop got a lot right back in the day.

This Robocop figure is prolly one of the worst figures I have overall. The articulation, proportions and feel is all wrong! Compared to the Mafex one this feels odd, the body, the torso, the legs, pure no. I did not sold this bad boy cuz I got the ED and hopefully will also get the Murphy, I just wish Neca improves this figure some day.
It’s a super old sculpt. 2015 I think. It definitely needs upgraded, because that Mafex is a little boy compared to him. Haha

Neca made so many dumb decisions, they re-released updated Robocop 1 and 2
also updated Gremlins 2 BUT.. they just repainted the very very old figures, what a big shame
for Robocop i suggest you get Mafex or wait for Hiya Toys.

Well I would move the leg then I just snapped then I got a new one then the gun holster never when back in the leg then I tried to get it in then the side of the holster snapped of so he just on the self and also it nice to talk to you.
