Thanks for your efforts and the video Drew. Especially the part about these times being stressful for the collector returning to the hobby in the last few years. The “community”, and your channel, have made it fun to stick around. Keep grinding bro!✌🏼
It was a very nice comment that you had at the end there, so few UA-camrs that are pushing hype ever stopped to give people realistic advice like you did. Don't cry over anything that can't cry over you. In the end a book is never important as your happiness or your health.
That Brubaker run on Captain America is also one of my favorites of all time. 1st Winter Soldier has been in my PC for a few years now and I always encourage ppl to pick it up. This is an example of a character resurrection which was handled well. That doesn't happen very often.
Couldn’t agree more! Brubaker took a throw away character, that had been thrown away for decades, made him a bad ass and brought him back in a very effective way. One of my absolute favorite runs.
Thanks Todd! We may need to turn down a bit right now, but we’ll be looking back on this in betters days regaling other collectors about the boom and bust of the early 2020s!
The market lets you buy things back...I like that!!! It gives me hope that one day I'll get some of the books I sold off back in my collection. I'm currently working on getting my run of SAGA back in my collection. Some great wisdom!!! Great video Drew!!!
Well said at the end. I had to make that tough Choice right before the comic boom and sold huge ASM keys to build an addiction onto our house . Yes it’s taking longer to rebuild but only ASM 1 is making harder to get that back.
Thanks! It’s amazing what can be financed off of the hobby! I’ve heard of people paying their way through law school with their comic collections and so much more ASM1 is definitely on a high right now, but I don’t know how much wiggle room it has for a correction. I know multiple people questing for a copy right now they haven’t been able to pick up a copy, even in the lowest grades, for $5-$6k. The basement floor is so high for it right now. I hope you’re able to pick one up again at some point!
Drew always great lists and appreciated the advice at the end of your video. Personally I’ve put Silver & Bronze Age comics on hold (buying & selling) but have been buying & reading current comics. I know you do videos on comics to collect on different budgets, any interest in current comics as a “budget” video?
Thanks Steve! Current books aren’t really my forte. I haven’t read anything month to month in years, even though I still buy ASM and a few other titles. There is tons of great current release content out there and while I could probably churn something out, I suspect it would not be fully informed, as I am not fully informed on the topic. Back issues are where my interests and general level of expertise lie, so I feel like I’m of the most benefit in that space. That said, I do try to work in a more modern book here and there when one hits my radar.
I've always loved Conan books, and I would really like to see some good new live action movies, but Idk who could play the character. Conan 1 seems to be a big key that the value is constantly rising on, but nobody wants to pay for it. I would really like to see the character get the love he deserves. Great video as always!
@@CoMoComicBooks Things go in cycles. If there's a big hit movie (i doubt Dungeons & Dragons 4 will be it) then people will be scrambling for these properties again. I was a Blockbuster kid, there were so many low budget Sword & Sandals movies on the shelf back in the day. Maybe they will finaly get the Red Sonja reboot off the ground one day, if its a success the comics will follow. I still love Conan.
WAY back in the day, probably 1982-84, I ordered a NM copy of this book (GL #76) from Robert Bell (one of the advertisers in the interior of many books). The copy he sent me was barely FINE, with about 6 spine breaks on it. After getting hit by another mail order retailer back in the day, I kinda gave up on ordering as everything seemed to way overgraded by these sellers. Looking back, I should have continued buying the keys, even if they were overgraded !

Love the spotlight on Conan #1. I know that Titan comics recently got the rights for Conan, and although I know nothing of Titan; it cant be worse than Marvel (who would be incapable of living up to Howard's vision for the character). Dark Horse, however, did a very fine job with the licence when the had it.
Thanks John! Most recently it was some pork spare ribs, cut down to STL style, before that some whole chickens and a pork shoulder. Brisket prices are way down though, so that will be on before too long!
Just picked up that FF #18 for about $150. It's not in the highest grade, but it's early FF (do you consider it early FF, or does it have to be under #10 to be early FF?), first appearance of Super Skrull....just couldn't pass it up.
Thanks Michael! This one is a bit more in the collectible side of things, as opposed to the ROI approach. I don’t think any of these are at risk of being losers long term, some are just great examples of buy the dip opportunities.
Great video! Hopefully you’ll land a EoSV 2 in the near future. I believe Spider-Gwen is here to stay and we’ll be seeing a lot of her for years to come. She’s a great character and character design.

Several more years went by. My wife handed me her phone to look at a post she saw on Facebook.......someone was mourning and lamenting his death. I immediately called his mother....she was inconsolable. It was true, he had died of a spinal bacterial infection due to the use of dirty needles. I went to visit her the next day. She tried to give me a lot of his stuff, his Genesis, ps1, zorlac Metallica skateboard, comics- CONAN #1. I refused and explained the value of his stuff. Hope that helped her find a moment of happiness and peace defying the well known addage regarding money's inability to do so. Sorry for writing all this. Conan #1 has a special place in my heart and is a well if memories.

Swamp Thing #1 has been under appreciated for a long time. I agree that it's a great buy. Aquaman 35 is a great buy too as are Atom #1 (1st Floronic Man/Jason Woodrue), Action #340 (1st Parasite). You could probably throw-in Showcase 55 for the 1st silver age app. of Solomon Grundy. I don't think Iron Man Subby one shot will ever achieve its rightful value. Sadly I believe that Green Lantern 76 will very slowly lose value over time (decades). Neal was my favorite artist. I didn't know it at the time (because I was probably four) but I fell in love with his art because I had a sweet collection of Power Records before I got into comics. I met Neal at Motor City Comic Con four years ago. I was shocked that there wasn't a line of people to see him. I don't think younger collectors know who he is. I understand the historical significance of the book and how beautiful the cover is (I have a 9.0 white pages) but I think Green Lantern #87 (1st John Stewart) will jump #76 in value some day if it hasn't already. Great show.
Agreed Rhys! The thing with Action 340, is that it is just like Batman 181. You’ve got to make sure they are complete, because the centerfold pinup is missing on the regular!

Honestly, talking about 4-figure books alienates a huge chunk of collectors. The point isn’t to be able to retire off of any of these books, but rather to be able to put $x in now and get $X out later, while hopefully avoiding losing money.
