They created these hype machines but used them for greed. I’m still new to this band just learned how to collect that’s why I like these videos.
Key Collector is a great lightweight pocket reference guide. MUCH easier and lighter to carry around than an Overstreet, even though it may not be as comprehensive.
Damn it Drew, do not call attention to the cartoon books.... I'm still hunting taz. There are a lot of these books flying under the radar, but they're so hard to find. I mean if you want to talk criminally under priced: First appearances of Pebble and Bam Bam, you can find raw copies for like 30-40$. Even first flintstones (dell giant 48) just recently started to pick up steam. First in title Speedy Gonzales. Four color 990 - First Yogi Bear, and Huckleberry. Four color 1128 - First Rocky and Bullwinkle. First Chilly Willy
You’re SO right. I about fell out of the chair when I saw how cheap Pebbles and BamBam were. It amazes me that Underdog 1 and the first appearance of Space Ghost outperform some of these.

Hi Drew! I think this video was amazing!!!!! I really like to buy great Silver Age books for $200 or less, even in Lower grade!! You gave me some great targets!!! Let me ask you a question. Do you think you could come up with a video of 20, or more Golden Age books, for let's say under $300? THANK YOU!!!!😁😁😁

Good stuff, as always. :) Would I be the first to claim that the bad guy in FF 51 looks like Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars? And to waggishly call the story "This Man, This Pawn Star?" On a slightly more serious note, lemme give a shout-out to two old cowboy keys, both from the Atlas/Marvel title Gunsmoke Western... First up, issue 57, cover-dated March 1960, includes the first appearance of Two-Gun Kid. Then issue 72, cover-dated September 1962, features a revised origin story for Kid Colt, Outlaw. @@tylerthecomiccouple3346 You are correct, and I should turn in my 'Junior Deputy" badge for making such an egregious error. :( That said, the cover text on GW issue 57 sure makes it look like Two-Gun Kid was a new character being introduced in that issue. I have no further explanation.
Westerns as a genre have been steadily declining for some time now. There are a few books that continue to be the exception to the rule, but for the most part, there doesn’t seem to be much hope for the values to make a comeback.
That 1st Parasite is on my list big time. It was at my LCS but by the time I wanted to pull the trigger it was gone. One of the best Superman foes. I'm after one but refuse to overpay. Batman # 234 continues to be undervalued. I would pick up a second copy if the opportunity presented itself. Great list Drew.
The same thing happened to me with DAREDEVIL 168 (1st Miller script/1st Elektra)! I could have gotten it for 40 bucks in the 90s and rather than withdraw the funds to pay for it, I waited until payday... but by then......☹️ I should have made an exception to my "Need v. Want" ethic!

Hey boss great info! I have a question what’s the lowest grade of a silver age book you should shoot for? expecting to make a profit not for personal collection. I know it will vary based on notability etc but just a general grade.
It varies. Collectors have different thresholds based on anything from affordability, grade, presentation, page quality, you name it. For me, I would ideally like to all of my major silver age books at or above 3.0. For books I care more about I have a higher floor. In general, collectibility and presentation start to decline rapidly below 3.0, so argue below 4.0. So depending on your budget, targeting 4.0-7.0 copies may help keep you in the middle for affordability and accessibility.
I know some people wouldn’t pay $10 for any of these, but for 200 or 300 I could own a major issue if FF or Avengers is pretty inspiring. Don’t care if the price never increases, because I’ll never own a Manet or a Chagall.
Yeah, when I found out Shooter was doing a signing I looked up some of his works and found out about the Action Comics #340. Interesting life he's had.
I don’t think that is the case. The book started moving long before the Gunn announcement. I would think The Batman would be more influential at this point even if we haven’t seen Harvey in that world.
Everyone starting to get greedy by speculating on garbage again post Gunn’s grade school dc presentation. Lots of folks paying too much & too much to lose on every book.
Eh .. falling values as compared to what for the big keys? The never to been seen again “boom”? That’s statistically an anomaly - cannot legitimately compare any prices to those way too high prices from uneducated & desperate people.
Yesterdays boom prices are 3/5/10 years from now’s regular prices if you follow the long term trend in appreciation. A lot of books will get back up there, it was just too much too fast during the boom.
