Totally stole that air layering hack from you to get a rather large top cutting going. Think it's at 5 fenestrations, so not quite as large as your partners but getting there! I also had to tape it up prop it, and then opted to extend the gallon freezer bag with another bag taped beneath that one once it pried its way out the bottom of the first one. I'm trying to wait until I see secondary roots, but it's got so many roots going I might pull it here soon regardless. Such a great hack!
What a great Monstera. Have you thought about using a weatherizing clear spray for wooden fences to waterproof the base of your wooden pole/plank/stake that goes into the soil? That would prevent rot and decay, or at least delay it.
@@KillThisPlantwhat kind of wood do you use? Those coco poles have a wood wedge that rots in months. Now if I use them I use them without that wood wedge/stake. After I cut the top off my Monstera, will the rest of the plant continue to grow leaves? If so, About how soon should that be expected to happen? My monstera puts out about one big leaf a month now.
Question: Those are huge stems for that small pot and you fit 2 in there! How do you keep the pot from not tipping over from the weight of the top leaves AND how long did you keep them in that pot? They wouldn't get too crowded?! Thank you!!
I repotted this into a larger space around 6 months later, but smaller pots really help the roots establish by avoiding root rot. I guess they dont tip because I balance the position well, the plants aren't as heavy as the soil, or you could put the pot in a heavier outer pot.
I think that monstera would look way better if you moved the light to shine from the front. Like you don't get to see the amazing leaves when they are all facing up.
I noticed that my monstera has some roots coming out of the bottom of the pot. Does that mean I need to repot it. It’s huge 😅 and if so, should I cut it up like you did here?

@@Nclk619 the best part of air layering is that the roots are already transitioned to a soil like medium making their final new pot much easier.
