In my native danish (norse) language "Krigsgalder" (Krigsgaldr) means "incantation for war" - a spell for achieving victory and asking the gods - in war it was normally Odin, the "Alfader" (Alfadr, Father of all) and god of death, for help and good luck in battle - and a place in Valhal (Valhól, Valhalla) for the fallen.

When you hear the most beautiful female voice and think it's a lullaby for all the children of planet earth, but it is Maria Franz promising obliteration and nameless cruelties towards the enemy.
    Powerful music!

What am I supposed to do
If I want to talk about peace and understanding
But you only understand the language of the sword
What if I want to make you understand that the path you chose leads to downfall
But you only understand the language of the sword
What if I want to tell you to leave me and my beloved ones in peace
But you only understand the language of the sword
I let the blade do the talking...
So my tongue shall become iron
And my words the mighty roar of war
Revealing my divine anger´s arrow shall strike
All action for the good of all
I see my reflection in your eyes
But my new age has just begun
    The sword is soft
In the fire of the furnace
    It hungers to be hit
And wants to have a hundred sisters
In the coldest state of their existence
    They may dance the maddest
In the morass of the red rain
    Beloved brother enemy
I sing my sword song for you
    The lullaby of obliteration
So I can wake up with a smile
    And bliss in my heart
    And bliss in my heart
    And bliss in my heart

This is the translation of the second panel of the Eggja stone from which the Norse part of the song was taken. Notice that some parts of the stone are missing, hence the unknown word starting with an "f".
Hither stone the man stained with corpse-sea, made thus oarpins in the bearing-worn boat
Whom as came harrier-god here to goð 's land?
Fishlike, out of river-fear swimming, as bird, our of f(?) crowing

Going on a "viking" usually meant going on a trading trip to all the "vikar" down the coast.
A viking was a tradesman, not a wild warrior, that was the danes and norweigans, they were famous for their raides all over, especially on the brittish isles, which even made the swedish people a bit mixed up with who the "cool" vikings were and who the real vikings-the tradesmen were.
When Sweden lost Finland to Russia in the early 1800's a huge moral campaign was designed.
The viking legend was revived, and the historians artists were instructed to come up with the "cool" warrior viking even in swedish history.
Ofcourse it was a lie, but it worked. That creation is still believed today. And why not? It's based on half truths, a couple of runestones with enigmatic symbolic texts and a very creative author called Snorre, who's pure fiction is still regarded as fact.
I'm a proud swede, I love my viking heritage, but I love the real viking heritage and I love the truth, not some stories based on bad research.
Always try to find the truth before believing in hollywood versions.

They could have been simple farmers of traders but from one story told by clan historians they were known to be fierce fighters and were given lands in exchange for helping a local lord win a war/battle. So really that story lines up with what we know about Northmen in general. Very interesting reading.

Great music! I've also been looking for other Nordic bands that try to rescue some of the essence of the old ways. On the downside, I just don't care much for the electronic-music aesthetics used here now and then. I think that one of the biggest victories of the "other side" has been to transform Europeans into a bunch of drug addicts, and, in the meantime, convince them that it is a great idea to be doing drugs. "We" have already a lot of that in electronic music, and don't need any more of it...We need to rescue the roots of the European man, pre-judeo-christianism - strong, honorable, loyal to his kin, truthful to the utmost, and, most of all, with a sense of HIS ORIGINAL SPIRITUALITY - and not be dancing in some rave-like event full of ecstasy in our brain, or some crap like that.... Having said that, I look forward for more material of these guys. Heil Heilung!

+Francisco Comelli i think raving and extasy comes close to the free living of the old norse. Dont forget drugs where always there, and even the ritmic stomps of rave. if been there and done that. im dutch :). nevertheless this music is great and find myself very spititual when listning. +Francisco Comelli A lot of old cultures did drugs and danced in ecstasy. So 0 points for you lad.
And this is also "electronic" music, in some ways, so I don´t really get your point.
To me it seems your generalizing really hard. People who listen to this music do drugs, people who listen to techno do drugs, people who listen to Metal etc. do drugs. Fun fact - a lot of people who listen to music do drugs ;)
Also - is electronic music and drugs the worst about modern culture for you? It´s rather the hedonistic life style, the trash, the fear of nature etc. Not a freakin´ music genre. Open your eyes. :)

+Francisco Comelli And what I somehow don´t really like about your post is that you´re saying that people who like electronic music can´t be strong, honorable, truthful etc.?
I mean, gosh, you really need to open up. I know a bunch of fucked up people who listen to this kind of stuff and also fucked up people who don´t drugs. Also, depending you can use drugs to expand your mind. Which, is kind of the stuff that old cultures and cultures close to nature still do.

That is not what I meant at all..I do know people who take drugs and are scumbags as well as people that don't take drugs and are scumbags. What I meant was that there has been a campaign, non-stop, in every type of media, to make people believe that drugs are a great thing, that they are something that should be aimed at as some kind of wonderful thing that makes you open you mind and see the world in some fantastic new way that you were not able to before, etc. And guess what? That's what drugs MAKE YOU BELIEVE...This is not a moralistic assessment at all, but it is what science says. Drugs throw you biochemical processes into an imbalance, making every perception go haywire, and thus you believe you are having some kind of heightened perception. And, most (and worst) of all: drugs are ADDICTIVE and are proven to wreck your brain. As every addict, I have friends that defend drugs to the utmost, saying that they have no effect on them and that they are safe, but these guys cannot have a weekend, or don't know what is to have fun, without taking ecstasy, smoking pot, or LSD, or some crap like that. One of them, that constantly goes to raves, cannot hold any information in his mind for more than a minute, and the another lives in a state of semi-retardation. So, if you think drugs are a great thing - and you must, for you seemed to be pretty offended by my commentary - go ahead and drug yourself out! Plus, do you think that drugs come from some Fairy Tale Land where little cute gnomes make them? They are made by slave laborers (mostly kids and women...sometimes they are taught one function in the line of production and then their eyes are gauged out so that they can't see and recognize the members of the cartel) in far away lands controlled by brutal drug cartels (people that, if you crossed them, they would cut you into pieces and then barbecue you and throw you to their dogs)...These are the kind of people YOU GIVE FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO when you consume drugs. So, my point of view stands: the only ones that have something to gain with this massive consumption of drugs are the powers behind the curtains - people that move political and financial decisions which rule the destiny of the world; they are the same ones that finance Hollywood (where, "coincidentally", drugs are rampant); as for us, taking drugs dumbs us down and distorts our sense of reality... I'll keep myself clean, thank you very much!

Having said that, I believe that there are some things, such as ayahuasca, for example, that can be used as a spiritual experience... But that is another story. Ayahuasca is not tobe used for leisure or social events, and you have to be extremely spiritually prepared to take it (plus have a lot of esotheric knowledge in order to be able to direct the experience). And no, I have never used it... So, again, this is not something that you take at raves, or to get fucked up with your buddies at a weekend party (Uuuuh, maaan, I'm so high dude!), or some stupid crap like that.

We’ve lost our connection to earth and soil, no wonder it gives, Post-modern abstractions fulfill none of us but give us only incessant thinking about nothing. This is beautiful and disregards such sickness in the modern consciousness. Be honorable, be strong, shoulders conscious, mind alert, analytical and emotion full.

We are naturally tribal, that is how a family unit works in today's society. We just don't see the way most societies had evolved. It was tribal, and all the communities working together did so because they were a trying unit, growing. Working to make their lives easier, until the point of like a small roman empire. Taking generations to build, and the Norse got to a decent point in their age.

I know that war is a huge bloody, muddy mess, worthy men will die, many of them, those who survive will bear scars both within and without... All I say is there is glory in defending what you stand for, by every mean even if it means to take up arms, there is glory in it not because it is a pleasing, easy task but because it's not...

Please, brothers, read up on the Germanic peoples. We are all part of the Germanic family, our father... The Norsemen call him Odin, the Germans and the English peoples call him Woden, but they are one and the same. Our ancestors were from different tribes, but all came from Northern Germany / Denmark and southern Scandinavia. Modern Germanic peoples include Afrikaners, Austrians, Danes, Dutch, English, Flemish, Frisians, Germans, Icelanders, Lowland Scots (due to immigration from England), Norwegians and Swedes.
