Absolutely. I always have Vivian with me when fighting Beldam, Marylin and Dooplis as well as the Shadow Queen because it just feels so right to have Vivian display her character growth
I flat out did that at the Palace of Shadows today because her and Doopliss attacked Vivian and got her defeated, so I hammered Beldam after fighting the two shadow sirens and Doopliss

While I do agree with you, at least you can make a head cannon that Vivian just resides in Twilight Town and doesn’t live with Beldam and Marilyn but rather is on neutral to good terms with them (Neutral with Beldam and Good with Marilyn). And when Vivian is with Beldam (for whatever reason) she makes it clear Beldam can’t push her around and Beldam knows not to mess with her. So there is that at least. The Sam can’t be said for Grodus, the X-Nauts and TEC however…

Yes! I did the same thing during my playthrough. I would hit Beldum several times, go on with going through the area, then go back and wham her. It was just a segment of me going along the small area, then going back and whacking her with my hammer multiple times. It really is soooo cathartic and I never got tired of it!! :D

She's considered transphobic because in the original Gamecube version of TTYD, in the original Japanese version, Vivian was written as a trans woman (although it was handled rather clumsily - this was a long time ago). In that version, Beldam constantly belittled and upset Vivian by calling her a man. In the original English localization, they removed any mention of Vivian being trans, and made it so instead of misgendering her Beldam just called her ugly all the time. Then in the remake, they re-established Vivian being trans, but didn't make Beldam go back to calling her a man. So when fans talk about Beldam being transphobic, they're remembering the really old-school original version of the game. Technically, if we only go by the remake, Beldam doesn't seem like she's necessarily all that bigoted at all - just really mean for no reason in particular. But she left a strong impression all those years ago, and it's fun to call this nasty lady a transphobe while beating her up with hammers, so people still do that. :) As for homophobia - I don't think I've heard anything about that, only people calling her transphobic, so I assumed that's what you meant. I hope this clears things up!
