Listening to Jaime and his bitterness seeping through reminded me of one of the more fcked stories in the book - apparently after he had been put in the Kingsguard, he was standing guard w one of those 'glorious' knights he had looked up to when they heard Aerys 'mistreating' his wife in the bedroom. He asked, "Shouldn't we do something? Aren't we sworn to protect her?" the answer was, "Not against him." I don't think this was Barristan Selmy, though it could have been. Either way, Jaime learned why we don't meet our heroes that day. 💔
