Wonders what the Valyrian chain link is for…. Talks through where he begins talking about the Valyrian link and then he says idk which one he’s talking about 🙄🤦♂️ It’s almost like if you just listened you woulda found out
I wish I had watched the Lore back when in the day. The first season was impossible to keep up with as a casual viewer until a friend made me binge it when we were snowed in. Back then, I was sold on zombies but they are rarely seen so early. It was more character and world building but I got there towards the end of season 5. Love the different takes by using the actor's voices.
I think this is the most important season of History & Lore to watch. It gives the most insight to what led up to the story we were given for season 1. There are some spoilers in future seasons for HotD, as well as a couple of scenes during seasons 3 and 5 Sometimes the information can feel repetitive, while getting different perspectives on events and stories
I don't think Tywin's orders to The Mountain included SAing the Princess. Murder, yes. I believe that was done because that's what the Mountain chose to do. I may be wrong, but I don't think so
That's the point why Robert of all became a king. It was believed he had a minor part of Targaryen bloodline because his ancestor (Orys) was a Targaryen bastard. So he's considered the most legitimate heir after Targaryen dynasty and that's why the past and ancestral history is very important in feudal system. Ned Stark did it by the book: helped Robert take the throne and after his death considered Stannis the rightful heir as he had the right by the very same feudal succession laws. Complications of these could result in something like what we know as Hundred Years War in our history. And that could also be the reason why Robert was so eager to get rid of all Targaryens as they were a great threat to his and his children legitimacy on the throne.
Don't know if you'll see this comment as it's been a while since you uploaded this video. Aerys was mad - there's no denying that. But remember that just as Viserys is biased so to are the other narrators. Tywin, Bran and Maester Luwin are all part of or serve families that fought against the Targaryens so naturally they try to paint all of it as bad. The Targaryens did rule for 3 centuries and, excluding the Mad King, it was relatively peaceful compared to pre-Targaryen rule when there were constant petty wars between the kingdoms. The Targaryens built roads connecting the kingdoms, completely expelled slavery, promoted trade between the kingdoms, unified the kingdoms into 1 - ending centuries of warfare, created a unified code of laws, were religiously and culturally tolerant and outlawed barbaric practices like 'the first night' which allowed lords to sleep with women in their lands on their wedding nights before their new husbands (basically a 'legal' way of raping wome). Aerys was mad but the show doesn't explain how he became mad and just dismisses it all on incest. He was actually very competent in his early reign and was a good king. But he was captured by a rebellious house who kept his prisoner for months and tortured him. This event was called the Defiance of Duskendale. This drove Aerys into madness. The family that orchestrestrd this were wiped out by Aerys once he was freed (he was rescued by Ser Barristan). The only survivor from that family was Dontos Hollard - the man Joffrey makes a fool who helps Sansa escape after Joffrey is killed and is later killed himself by Petyr. He was spared beacause he was a child at the time. Aerys' wife, Rhaella, also suffered many miscarriages and stillbirths which also affected Aerys. There's a theory that Pycelle, who was the Grand Maester at the time and loyal to the Lannisters, had a hand in these failed pregnancies. Robert did win the throne by conquest but i wouldn’t put him on the same level as Aegon the Conqueror. Robert was a drunk incompetent king who only ever cared about wine and women. It was Jon Arryn who did all the hard and made the decisions rather than Robert. Robert was a great soldier but an awful ruler. Elia definitely didn’t deserve what happened to her. She was completely innocent. Also, Viserys' account of what happened to his niece ane nephew is correct. That is how it happened. Cersei actually wanted to marry Rhaegar. She used to dream and fantasise about it. However, Aerys ended all this when he rejected Tywin's offer. I would assume Tywin allowing what happened to Elia is also contributed by bitterness that Elia was chosen over his daughter. One last thing. What Aerys did to Rickard Stark (Ned's father) was inexcusable. However, Brandon Stark (Ned's brother) brought his death upon himself. The way he died was awful but him dying isn't. He was an idiot and was always described as quick to anger. When he had heard Lyanna had gone missing he had gone to King's Landing and had demanded Rhaegar 'come out and die.' Going to the capital and threatening the life of the Crown Prince when you know the King is mad is beyond stupid.
Hey guys if you plan to watch House of the Dragon you should skip lore videos about "the dance of dragons" because it would spoil the show Edit: I just saw you already watched season 1 but I would still stay away from lore videos that mention the Dance 👍

he does not pay attention at all. Just constant shouting and screaming and making no sense .
It's so funny he asks what something was supposed to mean after totally not paying attention to what's being said about the exact same thing lol

I think at some point during the production of season one, the pronunciation of Tyrel changed. Loras also pronounces it wrongly too at one point..

He knew what the Mountain did to women. He knew what was going to happen to Elia and he wanted it to happen. Elia took Cersei's place.
Idk if its too much of a spoiler but no I 100% believe Tywin would order her to be Raped. He’s done it before.
