I love how she called Aura's magic disgusting, its the only time she bad mouths magic up to this point. Before, the only times we see her show excitement is when she gets wind of or hands on a new spell, and they are mostly ones considered stupid or gimmicky, like one that sees through clothing, or one that make shaved ice from thin air for snow cones and such. She has no interest whatsoever in something like this demon's spells, even Zoltrak she only bothered to learn as a means to kill demons and only after it had been thoroughly analysed and transformed by humans to the point that it became an anti demon spell, different from the original in nearly every way save for appearance and it's piercing power so she picked it up and calls it "basic attack magic" because it was analysed so much that humans can defend against it with relative ease if they know basic defense magic, because of this it became an anti demon spell as only a demon would be so arrogant that they would never waste mana on protection, that would be acknowledging that your prey is something more. I am so surprised by how good this fantasy anime is, in an ocean of fantasy anime. I even love that demons in this one arent a race that is practically the exact same as human, they really are nothing more than monsters that learned language to fool their prey, their society isnt advanced, they dont build great societies or cities, they dont have anything resembling law and order further than might makes right, no family, no concept of it or emotion further than the joy of killing and dominating
I really liked your interpretation of the demons, I was honestly getting really frustrated when everyone started acting like "ooh no they aren't evil they're just misunderstood 😢" like it really drives me up the wall because throughout the series we literally see that demons do not have any sense of empathy, they do not have compassion and unlike stray cats or dogs, no amount of 'domestication' can change them
@@aurelian2668 Domestication is not the same as taming something. It takes generations of genetic alteration and selective breeding to get the desired results of docile human compatible demon. It cannot be done in a single day.

I love to think that when they first met Aura years ago, Frieren's mana already exceed Aura. It just that she doesn't want to take risk by having to fight her own teammates as maybe Himmel, Eisen and Heiter's mana pool were below hers.
If u watch closely on flashback, himmel blitzed and manage to slash her, giving no chance for aura to even use her spell Spoiler below Himmel is actually really damn fast, even grausam, another great demon is surprised by how fast he is
I love how the series portrays demons' weakness is how they openly size up each other's mana like animals would ("monsters that learned to talk") and assume everyone does.
“Hiding your mana is stupid” No whats stupid is giving your enemies free information. Hide your mana so they cant tell how strong you are or how mana spells you can shoot. Life and death fights can easily be influenced by information or the lack thereof.
that goes both ways though, which is why Frieren still puts out enough that she appears as "strong mage" to anyone with detection abilities go too low and appear as too weak and you invite unnecessary conflict from bullies and opportunistic scavengers.
Yo, I've seen Vegeta and Goku be cold to their enemies. I've seen Sasuke and Itachi be cold af too. Using people as pawns and dealing killing blows at will. But I think Frieren has secured herself as my favorite number 1 defeat of an enemy. She didn't need to do anything but pretend she was caught. And she didn't even need to kill her enemy herself. Cold as ice, and bad as all sin. Frieren takes the cake.
I love the character type that is humble but extremely powerful only using enough of their power that is needed. She's like a secret god, only getting involved when all other methods are exhausted. she lets her party do the work and grow since the need for attention and celebration are beneath her. Can make for a truly menacing character that can shift the story if they ever change their mind. I like that they do show this possibility later on
I have a feeling that this was not frierens full mana capacity. She still believes in deceiving demons and if there happens to be another demon that saw they would know. Pretty sure she held back some for just in case
Frieren's unsuppressed mana is basically Serei's suppressed mana. As you can see when Fern was watching Serei's mana, you thought it was unsuppressed but its not. Imagine releasing out all of that mana 😅
the one and possible (currently) the only anime that i can stand watching even if it has 100 episodes...if they keep the quality and everything they're doing up until now that is...
You mean extremely arbitrary and hard to manage scales. First you need to know the activation spell for this item. Second you need to have more mana than your target. Third most likely it was picked up by Graf Granat when he was cleaning up the area
It's dangerous only because of the user. If just about anyone uses it, the chances of having the user being controlled is extremely high. That being said, frieren probably took it during the clean up.
I love this scene and how demons are portrayed in this anime. During the entire fight, Aura acts like she's in control. So do the other demons. She believes herself to be strong and unbeatable. Yet the second she realizes that Frieren is way stronger than her and that she's about to die, she cries like a child, tries to ignore the reality of her situation, begs for her life... The Joker said that in their last moments, people show you who they really are. And this couldn't be truer here. Aura is a cowardly weakling masquerading as strong. Same goes for that other demon who tried to decapitate Frieren. He acted all smug, yet the second he realized he was about to die, his first reflex was to beg. I find it fascinating how an entire specie that worships power is so pitifully weak at its core and doesn't seem to understand that real strength comes from your willpower, not from how hard you can hit.
i think it fits perfectly, they are oportunistic individualistic predators that have no other value than themselves - of course they will be smug bullies that turn to begging for theyr life the moment they realize they are going to die. they have no concept of honor, dignity or compassion only selfish needs and urges they cant control because they never had any reason to learn how to ... my personal theory is that elves are the third evolution of monster->demon->elf line because they also lack several fundamental "human" characteristics that are necessary for any species to last and are very close in characteristics to demons except having that extra layer of basic empathy and drive for other endeavors than just animalistic urge to feed and dominate others.
This anime is so good. They don’t even do this in one episode. They lead up to this with the two episodes and even then, she gives Aura so many off ramps to repent/try for redemption, and Aura’s ego can’t fathom what’s happening.
Aura's mistake was using this item without knowing how old Frieren was as an elf. She used this against people so often that she became careless to think about it. She should have noticed that something was wrong if her opponent wasn't afraid to use the object.
She did think something was wrong. Which is why she looked so carefully at Frieren's mana. But she saw no signs of supression. Its like losing to a game mechanic that you didnt even know existed
I like the imagery there at the end. Where Freiren’s hair is normally draped over her front, when she reveals the true extent of her mana her hair becomes draped down her back. A nice little detail.
Frieren: "I've been suppressing my mana for most of my life." Aura: "Are you stupid? Why would you do something so pointless?" Frieren: "You're right, it's stupid" Conversations between a newbie and a smurf
Because it's stupid from the demon sensibilities, mana is used to see how you rank among other demons. It's like living in a cardboard box when you have a debit card attached to a bank account with billions of dollars in it to them.
Your answer doesn't fit the character of Frieren at all. Frieren doesn't need to belittle Aura. She doesn't need to gloat or promote herself by beeing wise. She defeated the demon lord. She always knew that she would defeat Aura. Surpressing her Mana is what kept her alive when she was young and she just kept it up. This whole exchange is little more than a bother for her. Aura just made it go over more quickly. She wouldn't even need to surpress her mana anymore to beat demons. She was just annoyed by these demons taking up her parties time and all the things in the past she had to do because of demons. Beeing an 1000 years old immortal elven mage all of this "fighting" and "tacticianing" is just stupid to her. She just wants to sleep in, travel with friends and learn magic.
@@vukkulvar9769 That probably was the case, back when she young, beeing trained by her master and before she beat the demon lord. She however already bested the demon lord and is now a 1000 year old mage, probably the strongest mage in this world. She doesn't need to hide her mana anymore for demons, that are much weaker than the demon lord. She just does it because she has always done it. Without any really need for it anymore. Hence it's "stupid".

I really liked your interpretation of the demons, I was honestly getting really frustrated when everyone started acting like "ooh no they aren't evil they're just misunderstood 😢" like it really drives me up the wall because throughout the series we literally see that demons do not have any sense of empathy, they do not have compassion and unlike stray cats or dogs, no amount of 'domestication' can change them
@@harlequinofspades3762 Domesticating Demons is theoretically possible, it's just gonna take a lot of time, trial, and error.
@@thenewguyinred no we already saw how thay went down in el dorado
@@aurelian2668 Domestication is not the same as taming something. It takes generations of genetic alteration and selective breeding to get the desired results of docile human compatible demon. It cannot be done in a single day.

I could watch this reveal all day
This was such an awesome scene
I love to think that when they first met Aura years ago, Frieren's mana already exceed Aura. It just that she doesn't want to take risk by having to fight her own teammates as maybe Himmel, Eisen and Heiter's mana pool were below hers.
Aura fled from himmel
If u watch closely on flashback, himmel blitzed and manage to slash her, giving no chance for aura to even use her spell
Spoiler below
Himmel is actually really damn fast, even grausam, another great demon is surprised by how fast he is
@@user-oz3oe6px8jHe was.
Still gives me chills how badass this moment is considering all the build up to it
"Why would you do something so pointless"
Because it worked.
Reminds me a bit of how they couldn't see Death's soul in Soul Eater, because they're inside it; It encompasses the entire city.
"I learned this spell from the Grimiore of the great mage Low Tier God."
-Frieren
I love how the series portrays demons' weakness is how they openly size up each other's mana like animals would ("monsters that learned to talk") and assume everyone does.
The kys line and the walk away was SO COLDDDDD
“Hiding your mana is stupid” No whats stupid is giving your enemies free information. Hide your mana so they cant tell how strong you are or how mana spells you can shoot. Life and death fights can easily be influenced by information or the lack thereof.
that goes both ways though, which is why Frieren still puts out enough that she appears as "strong mage" to anyone with detection abilities
go too low and appear as too weak and you invite unnecessary conflict from bullies and opportunistic scavengers.
Its not that easy to supress your mana well. Also, for demons mana amount translates to their status. So hiding their mana isnt an option for them
Damn i feel sad for Bambietta, turned to a zombie plaything as a Quincy and now got beheaded as a Demon smh
I only see Anya Forger defeating Nino Nakano 😂😂😂
@@RiverKingOtterdamn 😂
I like that they do show this possibility later on
1:28 it was at this moment Aura realized that she messed up
"hey Aura, you better take off your scouter, these power readings are unreliable"
bAKa jANaI nO? 🤡
"I'm old"
"Yeah well I'm older. So there"
Truly a duel for the ages.
that scene is just *chefs kiss*
I have a feeling that this was not frierens full mana capacity. She still believes in deceiving demons and if there happens to be another demon that saw they would know. Pretty sure she held back some for just in case
Aura:why would you do something so pointless?
Frieren: You're pointless🗣, your life is NOTHING 🗣, you serve 0 purpose 🗣
こんなにも神作画が多いアニメ始めて見た気がする
Frieren's unsuppressed mana is basically Serei's suppressed mana. As you can see when Fern was watching Serei's mana, you thought it was unsuppressed but its not. Imagine releasing out all of that mana 😅
frieren the savage!
ahhh i miss aura, she was the most expresive character in the show, even her eyes cahnged when she knew she was about to die.
the one and possible (currently) the only anime that i can stand watching even if it has 100 episodes...if they keep the quality and everything they're doing up until now that is...
"the person standing before you is a mage who's lived over thousands of years"
frieren showed her who's the REAL mommy here.
This scene was fantastic and the perspective of her head flying was amazing
Can't believe Frieren told Aura to play Minecraft and actually being an epic line.
She would dominate in COD lobbies
one of the most epic scenes in this anime! Frieren mentioned earlier that she is stronger than Aura. But I wasn’t sure if this was the truth.
Demon should have no emotion but boy you can clearly see aura being afraid
Ban Frieren account, she's clearly smurfing.
"Aura, Start playing Violin with your sword on your neck. Also, play my theme song." - Frieren
“You are already dead by your own hand”
...did she just leave those extremely dangerous scales there?
the scales arent dangerous. the spell aureole is. the scales aint do shit
Actually it doesn't matter. Looking at the scene, after the command to go kill herself: the scales broke.
Dangerous to who? A 500 year old master war mage just attacked her with those scales and failed so miserably in the attempt that she killed herself.
0:18 SHE SAID IT!!! SHE SAID THE THING!!!1!2!
Aura: That's not my boss music...heh!
Mage who's lived for over a thousand years.
Falls for ever mimic chest in the dungeon.
probably would die any innkeeper demon with the slow power of forcing you to sleep a bit more every day until you never wake up.
Gamer greed is impossible to beat.
Well, you said it. It's been over a thousand years, surely that means the next chest is gonna be the one.
@@megablueflash1816 You're not wrong LOL XD
I watched the first few episode of this, and i thought it was going to be a chill fantasy, slice of life-like anime but I was wrong
Ah but you weren't... but you also were!
I was expecting Aura to play violin on her neck.
that wasnt a fight that was a one sided slaughter
A perfekt one sided slaughter.
I LOVE THIS ANIME
This anime is so good. They don’t even do this in one episode. They lead up to this with the two episodes and even then, she gives Aura so many off ramps to repent/try for redemption, and Aura’s ego can’t fathom what’s happening.
this scene was something else.
Always good to tell the defeated opponent to kts 👌
Imo this is the most badass single moment in anime
it still gives me chills
Low tier frieren dealing with summer ant
She is my GODDESS ❤️💞
Aura's mistake was using this item without knowing how old Frieren was as an elf. She used this against people so often that she became careless to think about it. She should have noticed that something was wrong if her opponent wasn't afraid to use the object.
She did think something was wrong. Which is why she looked so carefully at Frieren's mana. But she saw no signs of supression. Its like losing to a game mechanic that you didnt even know existed
@@alex2005zlike dead angling in dark souls
@@alex2005z Yup, it's like sizing up someone's HP bar as 100 or whatever and not understanding that the 'k' at the end means something.
I like the imagery there at the end. Where Freiren’s hair is normally draped over her front, when she reveals the true extent of her mana her hair becomes draped down her back. A nice little detail.
I spend most of my free time watching anime and i’m glad they made this Gem. Most fantasy anime are kinda meh but this one is a masterpiece
Aura will say NYA for the rest of her life
Frieren is OP, now i like her even More ❤

Aura: "Are you stupid? Why would you do something so pointless?"
Frieren: "You're right, it's stupid"
Conversations between a newbie and a smurf
A cold, unflinching power flex....I loved it!~
The funny part is that she is just cold toward a demon, for everyone else, she is just an elf granma
1:29 I wonder why they didn't set up Frieren's answer to be '... stupid? but it let me beat you. is it stupid if it works?'
So true man JHASJA
@@DevineAbyss She need to suppress her mana always, so demons underestimate her.
Hence it's "stupid".

i prefer frieren dubbed the voice action is nice a mellow/chill, plus when frieren said "Aura, kill your self" the way she said it was just cold
The dubbed is ass.
