    That laney sounds better than I expected.

    I preferred the Lionheart. The Mesa sounds way too scooped and fizzed out for my liking. Nice shootout!

    The Laney is like, 'I'm much clearer and in your face." The Recto is like, 'I'm laid back, and I'm just bad to the bone' - although on some licks it was a bit indistinct.

    How I'd love to hear one for these with the Ironheart vs Runt 50! Loved both these videos and preferred those two amps by a huge margin over the Boogie. A shootout between those two would be very interesting. Your riffs rule and really demonstrate the range of these amps. Thanks!

      It’s on the list! I don’t generally make High Gain Shootouts in the summer, though. But I will be making more of them around November. Cheers -Ryan

    Solid video! How's the Ironheart compare to a 6505+ for you?

    • @Crypticmaskguitar

      That comparison is on the "To Do" list. More than likely within the next 2 weeks. Cheers -Ryan

      @TriCrow Studios you're the man Ryan. I just wanted to say your shootouts have definitely steered me towards some great amps. Your riffs are awesome in the most metal ways. High gain is definitely life for me (and yes I add od pedals haha) Keep up the good work.

    Great playing. The Laney wins this shootout for having a superior voicing, emphasizing all the right frequencies. Mesa Rectos always sound hollow lacking in the midrange (the most crucial part of the tone) while being all-in on the low end (the least important thing for guitar in a band/mix).

    I think that these two would complimemt each other well on an album. Laney for lead guitar and dual rec for rhythm

    The Mesa does have a fatter sound to it, of course it does, it's a Mesa Rectifier, but what this comparison really shows is that the Laney holds up splendidly as its own high-gain amp option, and shouldn't be overlooked

      I love when people try to tell me that the Ironheart is a bad amp hahahaha! It does EVERYTHING and really well! Cheers -Ryan

    Great comparison, what difference!
    Are you shure you did not use a Metal Zone pedal with a sticker “Dual Rectifier”?

    Awesome, great comparison! I love my IRT-120, and was debating getting a Mesa as a secondary amp, with an AB/Y..
    I still am wondering how they would sound combined, when eq’d to counteract each other.. Props to you and the video, rock on bro!

    I gotta record with my triple rectifier. Your sound is really good. What are your settings with rectifier ? Présence ? No mid ?

    • @Crypticmaskguitar
      @Crypticmaskguitar  2 роки тому +2

      Unfortunately I don't write down or save my settings. I'm also Notorious for changing my settings all the time. For the Rectifiers that I own I generally start with Bass at around 9 O'Clock, Mids around 1 O'Clock, Treble around 2 O'Clock, Presence at Noon ,Gain around 10 O'Clock, and Master goes up until I can feel the walls in my Cabinet Room shaking from the Control Room. That's generally a starting point and I adjust to taste from there. Sometimes I use a TS9, sometimes not. I have 34 Amps so sweet spots come and go from Amp to Amp. Cheers -Ryan

    Have the laney 120 on full stack love it, have the 300w version too, also the winner to me is price few hundred compared to nearly £3000 ....

    I think they both sound great but for different reasons. The Ironheart was clearer and much better mids, but that Mesa had the tightest controlled gain by a mile. I think the Laney would be more useful in more situations. I own an Ironheart and a JCM800 and now I want a Mesa! Damn you and your amazing tone! 😉

    It’s not that the Dual Rectifier didn’t sound good. It certainly did. But the Ironheart 120 really stood out in this comparison and that speaks to how underrated it is in the market.

    • @chaosad8415

      No.the dual rectifier was the best at riffs hands down.the laney better for leads

  • @chrisx742
    @chrisx742 2 місяці тому

    Such a cool demo. Of all the amps ive owned, the laney records the best. It does need a boost pedal for saturated lead sounds, i think it has less gain stages than say a 5150. but that is also its strength, you can get clear and open high gain sounds that arent buzzy.

    Mention that the Recto is like 4-5 time more expensive than the ironheart. Why I see this video 4 weeks after release? Please go on with this type of content. Only high gain comparison of different amps. Even the cheap amps like ironheart and valveking. Not everybody can buy a Engl, Mesa…

    • @Crypticmaskguitar
      @Crypticmaskguitar  2 роки тому

      Pricing really depends on where you live. Here, in Canada, the Dual Rectifier is almost double the price, rather than 4-5 times the pricing. I believe I have somewhere between 80-100 of these types of videos on this channel. Cheers -Ryan

      Used Laney in Europe is maybe 400-500. I think. Now this amp is THE affordable amp for metal? Now I would also mention ENGL Screamer and Thunder in this category. Of course used JCM 900 is also very affordable in Europe. Then there are also the older Laneys like the VH100R. Bying Recto is just plain stupidity. In Europe. You could get a high end ENGL and still have money. And the ENGL is guaranteed to sound more metal than the Recto.

    • @DropB
