I'm partially through modding mine and waiting for some more switches to come in, but I started with the gateron browns as well. I'm mostly on glorious pandas now and did a simpler foam mod and it really did help. I still need to lube the stabilizers and I also intend to foam between the board and plate, but over all, it's so much nicer.
As someone who just ordered a k6 and plan to mod it in the future, this is just what I was looking for. Thank you! Now I’m curious as to how much better those switches could sound with some lube applied. I feel like at this point of modding it’s probably a very minor difference
In my other video, I lubed the banana split switches for my fiance's NK65, but I overdid it so they're super mushy lol I have another video coming soon with the replacement switches getting lubed, but they also feel kind of mushy even though I didn't lube them as much as much this time. So, I'm wondering if lubing is just not for me or if I would just prefer something thinner than Krytox 205g0
Hi will! Thank you for sharing your K6 Mod journey. I'm a K6 user too and I have been looking for a good way like this until recently. I will try it for my K6. ARIGATO!
I have same keyboard but I did similar mod with new keycaps, o rings and the foam, but I kept gateron reds and got lazy and spray lubed lol I am really impressed with what you did though. Great video
I just got a k6... I'm getting some neoprene foam today which is why I came to this video, but as of right now, all I've done is put gateron yellows in, so when you said "it might also be because of the new switches" I tested my delete key, and I don't have any rattle as you had, Maybe they are pre-lubing the stabilizers better. thought you would find that interesting.
hey so i lost the plate screws (all of them) and i cant find a replacement screws that is 2.3mmx7 but i did find 2.5mmx8mm i can shave the 8mm to a 7 but im not sure about the 2.5mm width will it damage the pcb?
I just got into this hobby and I'm trying to get to this point haha. I think my next mod will be adding foam. I have the K2v2 hot swap and I'm not sure how to remove the stabilizers. I'll have to look it up.
Hey Will! Absolutely loved the video! Amazing work on really showing how it's done and was a real treat as a beginner to see it from your perspective on how to go about modding a keyboard. I just wanted to ask as to why you haven't replaced the keycaps on the fn1,fn2,ctrl, option and command keys? Is it purely for aesthetics or do the keycap set not have the 1u keycaps for that row? Thanks a bunch in advance and once again amazing video :)
Are there switches that won't fit on this board? I bought AKKO Rose Red Linear Switches and they don't seem to fit, so was pretty bummed out, unless I was doing something wrong.
Try silicone it works way better than foam. It's what rama uses and the NK65 too. If you want. It's called a silicone mold making kit and you mix it and and pour it into the case and when it dries it pops out like a piece of rubber.
I also bought the Drop Skylight Series Keycaps but was bummed to find out that it didn't included the 1u CTRL, FN, and ALT keys. I'm assuming you're just reusing the ones that came from Keychron?
It Would have been nice to first show what you do in normal speed so we can learn and understand - and then go in speed up mode.and also give us the reference of what lube you used for example in the info tab of the video would have helped a lot.
Do you think this version of the k6 with the metal bars help with the audio of the keyboard? Or does it just make it feel more premium being heavier? $10 difference from model without the bars.
There are different sounds/feels that people want for different keys. For example, if he liked the sound that the letters make, but hated the sound of the spacebar when using those switches, he could change the spacebar to a different switch.
hey , have you ever tried to change the battery of k6? i wondering can i buy the battery without send to keychron or it will be working normally if i remove the battery and use wired mode only?
im stuck between a gk61, nk65 entry, and k6. im looking for most low thock sound so i probably am going to get inks and plan to lube and film. videos sound like nk65 is higher pitched which i dont like.
@@WillJauregui Ah, I see. Thank you for your reply. By the way, as you experienced, you do think it has impact to typing performance. I considering to lube to but not quite sure if that’s something to let it too softened.

Subscribed. I have the same keyboard and i found the browns were both too light and not tactile enough. What are your impressions in this regard with the 67g tealios and the 78g purple zelios switches? I have big hands im a musician with very strong fingers. Thanks!
Tealios are nice and buttery smooth, but they’re pricey and you can get great linears for less, like the banana splits, and you really don’t even have to lube them, refer to my other video lol, for tactiles the purple zealios are great at 78g, and if you are heavy handed you’ll probably love that, but also pretty pricey, glorious pandas are pretty good tactile switches and if you want a higher spring weight you can get springs cheap from tx keyboards and switch them out, the key company has new tactiles, the dragonfruit switches, made with c3equalz just like the banana splits so I’m sure they’re pretty good too, and same as the glorious pandas you can switch the springs
Might wanna add some sound dampening equipment in the room you're recording in (or do voiceovers in a closet) because the reverb is a little much in this video just an fyi

2 things I've looked for but can't find:
1) a pre lubed tkl kb with just the right switches
2) with a volume knob.
I think there are a few but it just depends on your price range. You should probably check out r/mk on reddit. Maybe you’ll find answers there

you can get a separate knob

I don’t think it changes sound too much, but it does help it feel and look more substantial
Hey @Will Jauregui I was wondering how did you test your keyboard after you plugged it back in?
by just using it, luckily everything worked
what screwdriver is needed for the aluminum side bezels??
Thanks in advance.
Will you do more keyboard content in the future?
I have another video coming but I haven’t had time to finish it, soon hopefully
would you explain the logic behind using two different switches and where?
There are different sounds/feels that people want for different keys. For example, if he liked the sound that the letters make, but hated the sound of the spacebar when using those switches, he could change the spacebar to a different switch.
Which one would you say has the biggest impact in making the sound deep and solid/fuller and removing the rattle?
Changing the switches probably, the browns are terrible lol
@@WillJauregui I see
hey , have you ever tried to change the battery of k6? i wondering can i buy the battery without send to keychron or it will be working normally if i remove the battery and use wired mode only?
I haven’t had to change it, but removing it isn’t hard, try removing it and using it wired
How do you buy key caps since they are odd sizes?
you basically have to buy via a group buy and sometimes buy the smaller additional packs with alternate modifier keycaps
so, did you lube the switches tho?
Great vid!
It could be better if you also lube the switch, but the video sounds good ^^.
does modding foam into the keychron void its warranty?
not sure, maybe if you use one with adhesive like i did, but you can use a regular non-adhesive foam

The K6 stabs are plate mounted, so the bandaids go on the edge of the plate where the stabs snap into to tighten the fit
