    Hey Ryan, nice video. On the xTool product page for S1, a video shows performance of 18mm and white acrylic being cut smoothly. Can you please verify this on your S1 for me? White acrylic seems to be impossible but this video shows it being done. Sorry, not able to post the links to the video directly.

    Hi Ryan, great review and cool machine but I'm ultimately glad I got the P2 some months ago, serves my needs better.
    Off topic but is there any chance you'd be able to set up the absolute coordinate grid also for the P2? Like you said, the camera always slightly skews the picture so that'd be a great help for my workshop and it should also work on the P2 spoil board as well?

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  8 місяців тому

      Thanks! I'll have to look into if that is even possible. The big difference is that the tray on the S1 is screwed down to the frame so it can't move. The P2 tray is not so I'll have to look into how much play there is in it or if the laser head could ever reach it.

    A great review as always Ryan. I am liking the machine but am definitely looking forward to a few tweaks to the software to help improve the twin point positioning I think it could be a very power system if fully unlocked.

      Thanks Chad! Do I need it? Yes I do ;) I have also reached out about the 2 point system where I almost would like to see a 4 point to account for rotation in the part. For now I will stick to my grid as I prefer to use those whenever I can.

    Good video, first time on your chanel and a new subscriber as well.
    When using your grid and absolute co-ordinates do you type the co-ordinates into the software? and does the honeycomb bed obscure it?

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  8 місяців тому +1

      Hello and Welcome!
      Yes. With the S1 you have to use absolute coordinates as opposed to the D1 where you can now choose between absolute coordinates and relative coordinates. You can type the location directly into creative space however at this time you can only use the position of the top left corner of your design to align it.
      For cutting with a honeycomb you are correct that it will obscure the grid so that is typically when I would use the 2 point coordinate system.

    I always appreciate your reviews. This looks a great machine. I am on the list to get a Roly Lasermatic MK2 in a few weeks, but now I'm thinking this may be a better machine. I think I would go with the 20 watt. It also has a wider bed. Have you tried it with Lightburn? Does it intergrate easily? And can you all the features of this machine with Lightburn? Thanks again for your videos.

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  8 місяців тому

      Hello and thanks! I haven't used it yet with Lightburn but I have loaded the .lbdev file for the machine and know it can be connected. However some of the special things like the 3D engraving and conveyor do not work in Lightburn. Also the wifi will not work either.
      As for the Roly Lasermatic MK2 I have not tried that one yet but should have it some time next month. I was super happy with the first one so I'm expecting good things.

    Love the video as usual. Question, how do you handle that with the riser base now the crumb tray wiggles around so the absolute cord positions are not correct. Do you have a way to get the crumb tray back to its original position and be accurate?

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  6 місяців тому +1

      The best way for accuracy is not to use the riser at all. I ended up removing it since I really didn't have much need for the extra height personally. If you want to keep in and the grid you might be better off making sure that it's pushed all of the way to one side to make sure it's square an use it more as a way of squaring wood to the laser rather then absolute coordinates.

      @@1-Nice-Guy To be honest since many of those camera systems rely on math to skew the image to conform to workable area they are close but not always exact. On all of my lasers, even ones with the camera systems I use absolute coordinates with a grid whenever I can.

    greetings friend, how deep does s1 20w engrave on hard steel and how much does s1 with IR 2w laser? is the engraving easy to remove or is it deeper in the material?

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  5 місяців тому

      It can engrave it the surface and not just mark in it. While it won't be super deep it's also not something you could easily wipe off of the surface based on the settings you pick. The IR laser will mark the surface but probably not that as deep. It won't easily wipe away put it also won't be as deep as the 20W with high settings. If you really want to go deeper in the surface you may want to look at a fiber laser.

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  8 місяців тому

      I think this would be a better laser for a beginner then the D1. The D1 is a great machine as well but still needs to be put together and doesn't have all of the bells and whistles as this one. The enclosure on this alone is reason enough for me to recommend this over the D1.

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  8 місяців тому +1

      If you are not in Europe then the riser can be uses as a way to open the doors and slide a longer workpiece even if you don't have the conveyor. It will of course open the machine an possibly let more smoke and fumes out but it would definitely let you do what you are mentioning.

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  8 місяців тому

      The S1 is a good machine for people of all skill levels. It would work fine for cutting wood and acrylics but keep in mind that no laser diode machine like this one can clear acrylics. To do that you would need a CO2 laser cutting machine. There also might be certain colors of acrylic that the machine can’t cut as well based on the laser color. It should work great for darker opaque acrylics.

    going to get the Xtool S1 but cant decied between 40W or the 20W . What are your thoughts

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  2 місяці тому

      The larger the wattage the faster the cutting. However the trade off is the larger the wattage to larger the laser spot size which means the lower the resolution it can produce. This might be negligible and maybe you won’t even notice the difference by eye but it’s definitely there. If you want to do lots of cutting go with the 40w. If you want primarily to engrave go with the 20w or maybe even consider the 10w.
