    Excellent video!! I recently ordered the F1 and P2 and I really needed help figuring out what settings and how to do the framing. I am going to check out your other videos. I would love to see some step by step tutorials for some of the things you made in this video. I am so worried I am going to break the laser lol. I have had them for over 2 weeks and haven't made anything yet. I wish xtool would include protective eyewear. I love that they included samples to practice!

    By far - the best, most informative video I’ve seen on the F1 so far. I was still on the fence whether or not to buy an F1, and kept wondering if a cheap 20w fiber was a better option. I now understand that the F1 will offer me so much - especially as a total newbie. My P2 just arrived and is still in the box. Thanks again. I will definitely use your affiliate code when I buy my F1.

      As long as you are planning on only doing relatively small projects it’s not a bad one to start with. However for the cost you could go larger with another brand and have more flexibility. It all depends on your needs.

    • @BusterBeagle3D

      With the IR laser it really mostly just marks the surface. It's deep enough that it will not wipe off but not as deep as something like a fiber laser.

    Hello, thanks for the great video. We just received our F1 and we’re trying to figure out speeds and other processes with it and XCS. We used laserbox basic with our D1 and it was really simple for us noobs doing our Tumblers.
    Can you explain where to find how to change the “lines” to 200 on XCS? Also, we’re assuming that the “speed” is called something else because we don’t see it anywhere?
    We want the best settings to completely remove the color coating on the tumblers for a really clean look (bare metal).
    Any help you can provide would be amazing and keep up the stellar work 🤙🏼

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  11 місяців тому +2

      This is probably too much for a youtube chat but XSC works much the same as Laserbox Basic. The difference here is how it interacts with the F1. The reason you are seeing Dot Duration and instead of Speed is because that is the way it handles raster graphics (images) now with the F1. It will also show you DPI (dots per inch) instead of Lines per cm.
      If you drew out a vector circle you would see the speed again in mm/sec and lines per CM. Not exactly sure why they did that and since it could be a little confusing to newcomers but it is what it is.
      I think for my tumblers I was able to engrave at 90% power and 550mm/sec at 200 lines per cm because my design was a vector. You may have to run some test to see what he proper settings for a raster image would be. The higher the number on the dot duration the slower the laser will move. A max of 3000 moves the slowest so it would be the darkest mark on Stainless Steel using the IR laser.
      Hope this helped at least a little.

    I am brand new to the F1. I have the slide extension with a business card jig. My question is how do I know what settings to use as far as the blue or the red laser? I have an svg picture with text I added to it. Is it ok to group the text with the image? At one point, I got a message about the object setting which said you can't set parameters for both a vector and bitmap. So, the bitmap is the image and the text is the vector? I'm just confused when to pick what laser. Is there a list of settings for XCS, such as the one Xtool put out for Lightburn?

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes. Text is line data which is also know as a vector. An image or photo works as what is called a raster image. A bitmap, jpeg, png, etc are all raster images. When using XCS you only get the settings that correspond to the type of file that you are working with. The IR laser works well on metals and plastic where as the blue diode is good for woods and other organic materials. xTool does have a list of settings for the F1 that you can find more about here: www.xtool.com/pages/material-settings
      The even tell you which laser you should use for what.

      What the other Ryan said. It is possible but you may need to coat the surface with marker to be able to do this on a while tumbler. Honestly I haven't tried but I would recommend checking out the Facebook groups of xTool to see if anyone else has. I'm sure they have.
