How you know every Dead End Hip Hop reviewer liked an album : Beezy - "The production was on point" Ken - " It had a powerful message" Myke - "I FUCKIN love this album! Two weeks ago I hated it, but that's why we take our time to review" Feefo - "Shit bumps in the whip" Haha. love the reviews guys keep it up!
I already know myke gone be like.... "The first couple listens I HATED this junk.... but after 27 listens for some reason it clicked" I can't wait for the day where an album has the opposite affect on him, where he loves it off rip and then after a couple of days he just shits on it.
Kendrick said in an interview that he's a big fan of DEHH and apparently follows them on Twitter. If the stars align I'm sure he'd come to do an interview.
+Jay Digga Fr, his review was especially dope this time around. He went more in-depth and articulate with it. But they all did their thing. I like when Beezy gets passionate.
The fact that he has such widespread appeal and admiration from all types of musicians speaks volumes - even Bowie was listening to TPAB (and Death Grips, funnily enough) while recording his final album... I don't think anyone can even come close to what Kendrick is trying to do, and I almost feel like he's already managed to lift hip hop itself up to a new level of creativity - we are truly witnessing the work of a genius in his prime, yet he still has so much more potential and so much more to give - he probably will surpass TPAB and GKMC, but even if he doesn't, his influence is already immeasurable. Phenomenal artist, I cannot speak highly enough about the guy.
I think its a shame that DEHH only get ALOT of views whenever they review a Kendrick Lamar project. There so many other great reviews that these guys have done on this channel besides Kendrick.
To be competely honest i think the DAMN review was what brought me here having no idea what the channel was, but i had just bought it, and was curious about reviews for it. Ive since subscribed and ive watched maybe 80% of their reviews. Still goin through them all.
Dawg Gawd I honestly think he does tho haha he's tweeted out like 5 DEHH videos already. At least I hope he does. And yeah a Kendrick interview with some real Hip Hop fans like DEHH would be ducking awesome
mr jack he dont owe them anything lol u r drunk. u cant say to pimp a butterfly is aquemini but more modern and less southern that means it is nothing like aquemini
Damn I nearly started crying listening to your end-of-video messages to Kendrick. Everything you guys said is true and we should seriously appreciate what we have in front of us. King Kendrick Lamar: Lyrical and musical genius.
I really appreciate Kinge perspective on this one. Him seeing a different era mentioning Marvin Gaye is jewel to compare with Kendrick. I want people who think hip hop cant resonate on social commentary. I usually dont agree with his older perspective but i appreciate this breakdown
I think Kendrick was indeed taking shots at Jay on untitled 07. If you look at the date next to the track, it says '2014-2016,' so it's possible that K Dot added extra lyrics that were directed at Jay after dude dissed him on Periscope.
I definitely do think people take Kendrick for granted. He doesn't make a fool of himself or makes us look bad with stupid, degrading behavior. He makes GREAT, IMAGINATIVE, CREATIVE, BLACK Music. Even the vast majority of his own people didn't even fuck with TPAB heavy. He's already in the conversation for Greatest Ever. If he makes 1 more Classic album, then he's undeniably Top 10 ever. Then once he's in, you can place him wherever you wish.
+TruMusic89 Right. It's said that it's that you have to explain shit like this to people. Different sounds work for different artists. So everybody'd be OK with Justin Bieber doing a gutter rap song because they personally own gutter rap albums? Does logic ever enter the equation with these kids?
For me GKMC is still the best Kendrick project by a mile, I can literally play that album 10 times in a row and have no issues, "Sing about me" is one of the best songs ever made in the history of music regardless of genre.
yeah, tpab was dope but it was just awkward to listen to at times with all the screaming and moaning it sounded like hopsin.I have to turn my phone all the way down in school when these walls comes on so no one thinks I'm watching porn.the blacker the berry was the best song on there to me because it did all the things hip hop should be about and it has a lot of replay value , everything else on that album I would probably listen to twice in a row and be done.
TrailorTrashGawd Nah man I liked TPAB but IMO it's a little concept dependent meaning that once the concept is fully understood and explored it becomes much less engaging, When I first listened to it the poems were very engaging but now that I've heard the album about 100 times and grasped the concept the poems can be a little annoying same thing with the song "U" when I first heard it it felt powerful and thrilling but now I just skip over it. GKMC in my opinion doesn't have those kinds of issues even though that album also has a concept.
+learning2understand I think you guys are crazy. I think TPAB is his best work even deviod Of concept from a flow and musical perspective it's much more ambitious and sonically beautiful than GKMC. GKMC was a vivid liner story I get it but TPAB is more diverese in subject matter and to me is more engaging track to track. I honestly think its so dense and so jazzy and funk influenced that just may not some people cup of tea. U is better than a few tracks on GKMC and it's competing with a lot ofother tracks on TPAB.
I'm with Myke, Untitled 1 is fucking DOPE! Not only the content but the production sounds so urgent which perfectly matches the tone of the song, and it's plain dope anyway
David Rowe I'm definitely wit both of yall untitled 1 is also my favorite song on the album has the best lines I'd was like Jeez Luiz! Production from Terrence Martin live jazzy instrumentation was Nuts.
lol a bit random bcus I know how u feel, bcus maybe your peers make u feel weird for liking something so far out..its like that in the black community sometimes
Five - Six months ago (billboard greatest of all time list) in that conversation, u guys said now way Kendrick should be there bla bla bla. Now fast forward five - six months and Kendrick releases his B - Side compilation album and you now are comfortable saying he is like one of the greatest (and he will be). Man that sounds Fucking weird. imagine what the fuck everyone will say when his discography is done and he ends his career.... And don't Fucking compare Kendrick To Nas. I Love Nas but he has a bunch of mediocre and bad albums. Kendrick is 4/4 right now. Everybody knows that. Biggie or Outkast would sound better as a comparison for their Albums with Kendrick. His discography right now is comparable to all of yours favorite rappers and u guys know that! All Hail King Kendrick.
Nas's 3 best albums alone destroy kendrick's discography. illmatic by itself is enough, Kendrick is a very good rapper but Nas is on another planet as an MC.
+Alb0KiD23 Let's see... Kendrick first 4 > Nas first 4.. Right?. that's the only way we can compare right now. A said before. Very Very Few Rappers/Groups has that Good discography
+Moh Ali I don't know about 4/4. You got half a song of Kendrick singing in a feminine voice (smh). Another track he doesn't even rap on. It's just some chicking singing for two minutes (c'mon). That's 2 out of 8 tracks right there. Another track has Cee-lo singing all over it. Nas' 4th effort Nastradamus is easily his weakest effort but Life We Chose and Last Words smash anything on untitled.unmastered. Kendrick has all these singy songy hooks and soft beats. Nas couldn't get away with stuff like that in the 90's. The standard today is so much lower it's ridiculous. There's a couple of good tracks on this but there's nothing special about it. People are getting a little too carried away. And if you want to talk about leftover songs Nas' Lost Tapes blows this right out of the water. No contest.
Did anybody think there was a theme based on the Seven Deadly Sins? Like Blue Faces kind of touches on greed, the first part of Untitled 7 is about pride and the last part is about lust. I also think Untitled 5 was about Wraith cause he was painting a scenario where he was going out and killing people on his list. There's also the fact that There's 8 tracks...Untitled 1 being the Rapture, and the other 7 touch on the deadly sins
Since this EP came out I have been jamming the hell out of this....just like B track 5 is my favorite...can not wait to see what he does next..PIMP PIMP!
When you waiting patiently for C-Town to fucking rip the record apart....but then he absolutely gives the perfect review praising the record. Fuck you Mike! Start hating records again! And also thank you for validating me. I tell so many people that Kendrick is like the Rakim and Nas of our day, pretty unequivocally the best rapper alive today. All us Kendrick believers get hate because we're comparing him to other great artists that he's comparable in skill with "too soon." I'm like, Nigga do you NOT have ears? Do you not remember how you felt listening to the great shit we grew up on? Does Kendrick not evoke that same feeling. I remember how Aquemini made me feel. That shit became an instant classic in its day. Kendrick makes me feel like that. I know what I'm talking about. Kendrick name gonna be in our mouth for the next half a millenia teaching college courses
Personally I think Kendrick is more of the second coming of 2pac rather than Nas, but that's just me. Either way it's a strong comparison and a worthy comparison. Keep doing you, K.
+Strictly Music Nah Lyrically Pac is the most overrated rapper ever, he's definitely good and had a heartfelt message but his rhymes were very very basic especially in comparison to Nas and K.Dot.
Its funny how a lot of Kendrick fans always shit on Wayne when K.Dots cadence and vocal inflections are heavily influenced by mid 2000 era Weezy, it was much more apparent on OD and Section 80 but I still hear the influence now. Just listen to the song "I'm me" by Lil Wayne than listen to "Blacker the berry"there's a clear resemblance.
+persona Nah bro real Kendrick fans respect what Wayne's done in the past, the main people who shit on Wayne are edgy pre-teens who worship guys like Hopsin, Tech N9ne and Eminem.
Terrance Porter Yeah I know that, I'm a big of both Wayn and Kendrick I just find it weird when I see all these Kendrick fans like " Man K.Dot is bringing back Hip Hop after Lil Wayne Killed it" which pisses me off a bit considering how dope, Unique and influential albums like The Carter 2 were at the time.
I appreciate dehh for waiting to review this, I'll never understand how an album will come out and 2 hours later people have an entire thesis on a body of work that took months/years to create
+Khalid Richardson For sure he was on both Long Term Mentality and Control Systems. I heard that he doesn't rap a lot but when he does he spits something dope and worth listening to. And so far he has not disappointed me. When I heard it was him on this track I was ready to hear what he was gonna spit.
This project is spectacular. I agree with Mike, I was blown away after the first track! Powerful, thought-provoking ideals and intricate production sprinkled throughout this album truly makes it a treat to listen to. Untitled 3 is my personal favorite, but I find myself listening to this album from start to finish every time. Simply phenomenal. Great review DEHH.
To me pac will always be the g.o.a.t. something about his music and his interviews is just so special. and i can see why you would put someone like jay z or nas on number 1...but i think kendrick will take the number 1 spot when its all said and done.
They always dislike my favorite tracks of every albums lmaoooo that CLo song is untitled 6 and its such a jammmmm! I think it's important to not put kendrick in a box. Not all his songs have to be intense/deep/dark like some of them can be upbeat and happy. The beauty of kdot's music is that his sound (whether dark or happy) is so unique and his lyrics are so powerful
myke says that he sees that Kendrick is the second coming of Nas, but people will still say he hates on Kendrick lol. Enjoyed watching this review as always guys. Thank you!
I'm an old head, been listening to rap since the 80's. To me, To Pimp a Butterfly is this generation's Illmatic. I once thought my top 10 would never be touched, but Kendrick is on a level I haven't seen in a long time.
I love coming back to old school dead end. The albums and their reviews take me back to when I lived in an apartment in Inglewood with my now wife. Hard times but nostalgic listening to these guys
+Kendrick Bada$$ Sigh. Different sounds work for different people. So you'd be OK with Justin Bieber doing a gutter rap song because you own gutter rap albums? Oh OK. See there?
no one talked about untitled 3...what the fuck my favorite track. great conceptually. loved the fact that each race gave kendrick advice on what would make him successful, but all the item they advised him to get are what is poisoning his community.
I think the reason why so many younger listeners haven't really attached to the TPAB era of Kendrick is because his style is cut from a different generation. I have trained my ears to appreciate so many different kinds of music so I can appreciate and enjoy what Kendrick has done with this Jazz-Funk-R&B fusion. If you're stuck in that generic 808's, low-fi, trap influenced bubble then you're just not going to get it as pretentious as that sounds.
Yup, many listeners are very close-minded these days. If it's not the same old repetitive trap pop stuff that Drake and Future are putting out then they don't want to hear it.
everyone seems to skip untitled- 01 that song so so so important even till now. Glad Myke C pointed it out. I play that song at least once a month as a reminder.
+Justin TimberBAKED I know what your saying, Myke C-Town still gets harassed on twitter to this day for saying he liked GKMC much better than TPAB in the review, Kendrick stans are ridiculous..
The Final thoughts of this review was simply special for everyone to finally realize that Kendrick Lamar is already at a legendary level and still getting better is something we've never seen in a review in a very long time and I'm glad that those words came from the best collection of reviewers on this UA-cam shit salute to Deadendhiphop real talk.
PLOT TWIST: What if the dates that are on each track are the dates that he started working on em, instead of the date that each was recorded? Because he could've been prepping each one up for TPAB and after initial sample clearance issues, he could've abandoned them then. Maybe the Jay Electronica thing isn't a stretch in this light.. A possibility nonetheless.
How you know every Dead End Hip Hop reviewer liked an album :
Beezy - "The production was on point"
Ken - " It had a powerful message"
Myke - "I FUCKIN love this album! Two weeks ago I hated it, but that's why we take our time to review"
Feefo - "Shit bumps in the whip"
Haha. love the reviews guys keep it up!

Dead End Hip Hop needs to have a sit down interview with Kendrick Lamar. That would be so entertaining!
Yeah, the kind of guy that he is, if they reached out I could see him doing it too
Kendrick said in an interview that he's a big fan of DEHH and apparently follows them on Twitter. If the stars align I'm sure he'd come to do an interview.
I'm crying at 8:55. Myke C Town was a meme before that face became famous on Twitter from a different dude
Kendrick is definitely something special. Everything he releases has so much passion and emotion behind it.

+Jay Digga Fr, his review was especially dope this time around. He went more in-depth and articulate with it. But they all did their thing. I like when Beezy gets passionate.
kashstory no doubt they have great chemistry that's why they're my favorite review team and I always look forward to the next one
i know Myke said that kendrick is the new Nas, but his style is waay more Andre to me. especially in the experimental direction he's been going in
I agree
mixture of Nas, Snoop , Pac , 3 stacks , alot of old school cats he paid his dues already
Hugo Cabrera to me it's andre, wayne, pac, and he crafts albums like Kanye with all the themes and literary devices
Michael Di Gennaro and how his albums don't sound the same like kanye also
Michael Di Gennaro I think the Nas thing comes from the great storytelling
I come back to this video every now and again just to hear Myke appreciate how dope Untitled 01 is. Incredible song.

nobody talked about Untitled number 8 😒
Eduardo Minelli your profile pic.
Untitled 1 = Gasoline Dreams by Outkast
Kendrick owes Outkast half of his career. To Pimp a Butterfly is Aquemini but more modern and less southern.
mr jack he dont owe them anything lol u r drunk. u cant say to pimp a butterfly is aquemini but more modern and less southern that means it is nothing like aquemini

Agreed with this take 7 years ago. And it ages pretty well huh?😅
Myke's complaining about that Ceelo song being too 'poppy' yet he owns Katy Perry on vinyl.
I know, right?

"The Black Pool of Genius"...man you hit it right on the head. I love that song by Donny Hathaway! so ethereal
The Kendrick of this generation
Myke is 100% right about track 1. That shit still gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it..

I know it has been said multiple times but Myke is freaking hilarious. This review made my day. Keep it up fellas.
Jay Rock's flow was making me think of MF Doom with that glutinous appetite verse.
damn beezy was hyped for this haha
he be hyped for shit that he actually likes lmao. I dont blame him one bit.
untitled 2 & 8 were the the best in my opinion
Its funny how a lot of Kendrick fans always shit on Wayne when K.Dots cadence and vocal inflections are heavily influenced by mid 2000 era Weezy, it was much more apparent on OD and Section 80 but I still hear the influence now. Just listen to the song "I'm me" by Lil Wayne than listen to "Blacker the berry"there's a clear resemblance.
Not section 80 he was influenced back on his carter mixtape days but not now
+persona Nah bro real Kendrick fans respect what Wayne's done in the past, the main people who shit on Wayne are edgy pre-teens who worship guys like Hopsin, Tech N9ne and Eminem.
Of course, Wayne is an influence on Kendrick Lamar. K.Dot has a whole mixtape of him rapping over 'Carter 3' instrumentals called, 'C4.'
Terrance Porter Yeah I know that, I'm a big of both Wayn and Kendrick I just find it weird when I see all these Kendrick fans like " Man K.Dot is bringing back Hip Hop after Lil Wayne Killed it" which pisses me off a bit considering how dope, Unique and influential albums like The Carter 2 were at the time.
yes sir man now I gotta go listen to the C4 tape for that Wu track
"GET GOD ON THE PHONE!" For real though the beginning always kills me 😂😂😂
Ken and Beezy really are humbled by this man's music, nice to see!
I know this one is also late, but i'm surprised you guys didn't review Rick Ross' last album, Black Market. It's probably his best work in years.
I appreciate dehh for waiting to review this, I'll never understand how an album will come out and 2 hours later people have an entire thesis on a body of work that took months/years to create
Punch been rapping he been on Ab soul albums
Great review DEHH.
ken almost got me tearing up at the end
+dorito567 Hahahahaha!
can't believe ya'll didn't go PIMP PIMP :(
To me pac will always be the g.o.a.t. something about his music and his interviews is just so special. and i can see why you would put someone like jay z or nas on number 1...but i think kendrick will take the number 1 spot when its all said and done.
Kendrick Lamar is pure genius. He is always evolving with every project.
myke don't you own a Katy Perry vinyl? lol what do you mean too poppy?
+Kendrick Bada$$ Sigh. Different sounds work for different people. So you'd be OK with Justin Bieber doing a gutter rap song because you own gutter rap albums? Oh OK. See there?
I'm with him on Untitled 01 ... That song is fucking fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Definitely my favorite song
The only thing to remember is Kendrick can put all these other rappers on life support.👊🏽
Why hasn't he?
Because he can't... only old heads love Kendrick. He doesn't appeal to the youth
and he has now😊
I love the part when he did the whispering I thought that shit was dope af was unique
ken been chappin on the snap
+ChannelX Snatchappin steady snackin on them chapstticks
no one talked about untitled 3...what the fuck
my favorite track. great conceptually. loved the fact that each race gave kendrick advice on what would make him successful, but all the item they advised him to get are what is poisoning his community.
I agree. That and maybe track 8.
+Matt Bourland Kinge clearly spoke about it being amazing
+Jon-Pierre Jones I wanted a other more but ur right
+Matt Bourland yeah i feel you. I think they spoke about his live performance of 03 in a different video if youre interested
If you're stuck in that generic 808's, low-fi, trap influenced bubble then you're just not going to get it as pretentious as that sounds.
yeah those are the ones calling it trash bcus it's not their taste.. they'll say 2 and 7 are their favorites tho
Yup, many listeners are very close-minded these days. If it's not the same old repetitive trap pop stuff that Drake and Future are putting out then they don't want to hear it.
THANK YOU. In today's generation , we will never have dmx's or outkast's, kids want the same dumbed down bullshit sound
Nobody's talking about untitled 08? damn that one's probably my favorite
Does someone know the name of the intro song? 0:26
Wow theyre 4 months early
everyone seems to skip untitled- 01 that song so so so important even till now. Glad Myke C pointed it out. I play that song at least once a month as a reminder.
I think people are scared to say they don't like a Kendrick album cause of the backlash they would get! Lol
L
+Justin TimberBAKED I know what your saying, Myke C-Town still gets harassed on twitter to this day for saying he liked GKMC much better than TPAB in the review, Kendrick stans are ridiculous..
not really a lot of people are open about not liking TPAB..
EXACTLY lol
and some people aren't open to actually "liking" it either..
Myke just came back from his purple rain midnight showing?
3001: A Laced Odyssey by Flatbush Zombies! Review it!
yes please
please, what's the name of the song at 00:28 ?
Greatest deadend hiphop video. He IS the one!
I really enjoyed this review. It's rare that we get a chance to really revel in and appreciate an artist's greatness
I fell down the stairs to untitled 05, it sounds good falling down the stairs
Fav is untitled 08
Kendrick Lamar is truly a prized piece.
I'm guilty of skipping over track . Imma have to go back and listen
Track 1 definitely sounds like a vintage Wu-tang production
8:56 this is the thumbnail Myke uses for some of his videos haha. Threw me way off for a sec
NOTIFICATION GANG
YAAAAAAAAH
Turn up!
Squaaaaaaa
Aye
+Ajayi Jackson ahhhh shit.
Levitate levitate levitate levitate UH!
