Listening to your explanation, about your life experiences, explains why your so dedicated to aviation. Your humble, wise, realistic , and thoughtful. If this channel is a means to your goal I hope it yields many followers and revenue. The world needs to see more people of your character. As usual another educating, and entertaining video.

@@HomeSimPilot I do under your efforts lil Bro, I stopped at PPL but still dreaming... Know that it is not late. You can get back current with your CFI, CFII, or MEI you are not rusty yet. My question though: Have you ever thought of 6 DOF Motion for your Sim? Bro, you could be the first for us to showcase at the Oshkosh aviation show. I got sourcing to start...

Awesome flight sim my man. I just turned 71 and was a student pilot in my thirties when I got married and pursued a career as technician at Kennedy Space Center FL Space Shuttle program. I do not regret that decision but had to put my flying ambitions on hold. I flew RC model airplanes while there but I am retired now and miss the real flying. You have inspired me to get a flight sim and get back into it. It is as real as it gets and if I make a mistake while practicing I don't have to worry about ending my life. I have just subscribed and will be watching more. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

For those who ask about “why not buy a plane? Because they can cost a whole lot of money. I just did an IFR flight from Palo Alto to Salinas. 2 hours, with is cost at $117/hour and the 2020 172 at $215/ hour. Do the math. Needless to say, I don’t fly as often as I would like.

He covered all the items that MUST be paid for after you purchase a plane that some people don't think about when thinking about buying a plane. I looked at several videos detailing the cost of owning a plane. One pilot says his cost is $24,000 a year and the other pilot says his cost is $13,000 a year. The amounts does not include what it cost to purchase the plane. He spent $7,000 over 3 years to build this awesome sim where he can perfect his craft. Great job SIR. I want to build myself a simulator just like this one. I can cut the cost of the computers by building them myself.

Just found your channel and will be subscribing. Have to say I am envious of your setup and hope to build something similar in the near future. Your videos are very informative and I like how you interact with your viewers. All the best to you in life and future endeavors. As I work towards my PPL, I too fly a sim and it helps me retain knowledge and proficiency. I hope to buy a plane someday soon after retirement, however I understand how expensive owning a plane and all the expenses associated with flying can be. Until then I'm happy using my sim until I can get back in a cockpit. Thanks for sharing your story and keep your videos coming. Take good care.

I appreciate the ride along. I know absolutely nothing about flying. I have flown twice in my 60 years as a passenger on commercial flight. I had no idea it was that complicated. Did not know there were so many checks and that you were always doing something with the plane. Very interesting. It would be my honor to be your passenger and fly with someone so dedicated, responsible, trustworthy etc. etc. You seem to be a good person with a good heart. Wish you all the success.

This is absolutely amazing! I've been taking flight lessons towards my PPL on a Diamond DA20 and I love it. And I will add to your comment during the video about cost of flight training. It costs me about $200/hr to take lessons in the DA20 ($130/hr for the plane and $65/hr for instructor). Being able to offer flight lessons using your simulator would be a huge service to those that don't have that kind of money to spend.
Also, on cost of buying a plane. Diamond DA20 aircraft costs about $120,000 - $200,000. A Cessna 152 like you're flying in the sim can be found now at around $50,000. That's just for the plane, and that's still 7x more than what the sim cost. But with a sim you can fly anywhere in the world and not have to pay for all the other expenses.

Exceptional narrating as you are flying. Thanks for teaching us. Would love some more explanations on how to land properly (maybe I need to do some reading ???). When do you make the turns in the pattern (I still don't understand this). Would also like a clear description of the distances and descent rates from various points in the patterns. Eg 1000ft AGL join pattern (from where), downwind 1000ft, base (turn and descend? what are the turn references and what should the altitude be ?), etc. I manage to land but it's never clean from a patter perspective and it's because I obviously don't understand the process. Would love a video clearly explaining this. Thanks for the wonderful videos and fingers crossed you get your dream (you will judging by the character you are). :-)

I did that for eight months then got hired with ExpressJet. Left there in 2009 then started building aircraft. I think it is cool what you are doing. I like the Xplane Sim better than your MS2020 sim. Once MS steps it up then you will be golden. I wish I had what you have so I can teach my best friend how to fly. Hi Josh. Another great video. A few things I was wondering. Do you think, in the future, you can do a behind the scene video of how you create your UA-cam video? I see in your computer specs you have a couple of video capture cards, and it looks like a video camera behind you. I like the pop up PIP panes on your video allowing your viewer a closer up view of what you are seeing, like your instrument panel, the GPS, the checklist, off the wingtip view, your iPad with its apps. What software do you use to capture and what software do you use to edit. I think that would make for an interesting video.
The other point of interest was that ElGato stream deck button panel you added to your instrument panel. What do you assign those buttons for? Do you think in the future you would take longer flights to where you can live stream and do a Q&A interaction with your viewers while in cruise flight? Ever thought about going LIVE?
Also, I would be interested to know regarding your Desktop Aviator Trim Panel with the six switches, one which you use for carb heat, and the circuit breaker which are actual buttons and the switch panel you made for you Microsoft Flight Sim, what have you assigned all those switches and buttons to do when activated?
Thanks. Keep up the great work! See you on your next flight.

Hello sir! Thanks for watching. You’re right I should make a behind the scenes video. Its A LOT of work that goes into making these vids, which is part of the reason why i don’t post often. Im using 2 pcs, OBS on both, 3 capture cards, NDI, i use my replays, etc.

People who comment on the cost of a sim vs the cost of either getting your license or buying a plane (yikes!) have absolutely ZERO idea what they're talking about. You could build 5 sims for the cost of an annual and maintenance. Not only that, sim builders ENJOY BUILDING sims and using them. I'm about a couple thousand and 100's of man hours into building my sim and I'm also a student pilot. The cost of building a sim is about equal to two cross country flights with an instructor. And the hours I put into learning in the sim, replace hours of flying in the real world using the plane as a classroom, which costs about $250/hr.

what is your computer specification??? the gauges are nice shown how they work. please always let them to be visible to see if those airsim gauges work as real flight

Love your videos. I am a Cessna/Cirrus pilot and have been looking to simulate the best environment that is close to the cockpit for IFR practice (not FAA training). Will you be going into your monitor build/setup? (e.g. what stands, monitors, x-plane config).

Stopped at 29:00 to comment...You don't have to justify why you spent the amount of money on your sim!!! I've been Simming since the early 1980s and that was back in the stone ages were talking about ( Attari II and Commodore 64s on floppy disks:))..( Microsoft FS 2).my first Flight Sim was made out of. plywood and pvc pipe for the fuselage and stick and rudder connected to the joysticks.. It was. Disco funky)... ( but it kept me current with procedures and muscle memory after I got my pilots license in 1979 it real helped)..( I used it for years.....every time a new sim came out ...I got it!!...A flight sim like the one you've got would be worth at least $100,000 .to $200,000.....US dollars or more and if put you put a #motion platform flight simulator set up under it... there is no telling what it would have been worth!!! $$$ ka ching$$$. Have you ever thought about mass producing it??? Anyway. it's your life and you can do whatever you freaking want to!!! I am flying one of my latest DIY sims in my garage right now!! (It's a po boy special..FSX..Laptop..Saitek X 52 stick throttle and rudders..total cost $250.00)...( Im flying in a Mooney right)...And no.. I don't have MSFS220!!) Next year..maybe!! Great video.Keep up the Good Work!! Keep building!!.And No you don't need VR!!!!.🐦🐦🐦.....

Man If you could build a setup like that, I bet you probably could build a Real Kit Plane from the ground up.

Awesome video but 1 question, does ur flight sim feel like ur actually flying a real plane?

    • @HomeSimPilot
      @HomeSimPilot  3 роки тому +9

Theres no motion so I cant feel any forces. I only get vibrations from the buttkicker which does help a little. Besides that, it does feel like being in the real cockpit

    • @quecksilber457

That's exactly it. I went for a flight from time to time. And besides the motion and the forces on the yoke (wich you also can come close to, but only with an expensive Brunner yoke) it feels very close to reality. Those birds today are really well simulated. Oh and @Home Sim Pilot, damn i really enjoy your videos! Keep'em coming and greetings from Germany!

Quecksilber The Brunner yoke is definitely a beast! Thanks so much for watching my vids. I appreciate it. Cheers 🛫
