What's ironic about dexit is it backfired because from what I've seen, most people got so fed up with the outrage (from people like distantkingdom and twip who each made atleast 20 videos about it) that they cared even less about it.
I agree, if they don’t let us catch every Pokémon with no National dex, it’s fine, since Gen 7 doesn’t have it as well, but what it does have is the ability to transfer EVERY single Pokémon, for example you can’t get oddish in Gen 7 at all, but it’s still programmed in the game so if by using the GTS or by transferring, you can get one. But since Gen 8, if you wanted a Greninja on your switch game, got luck, because you couldn’t get it until the next generation dropped
Great video! In responce to your last statement, one I would have liked to see you to talk about are the numerous controversies surrounding Mass Effect 3. From its Day 1 DLC to its extremely divisive ending.
It's always funny to me that Pokemon was seen as this evil, satanic video game back then when the original monster collecting RPG series, Shin Megami Tensei, which didn't make it out of Japan until the 2000's, was literally filled with demonic and occult stuff, with the monsters you catch being called "demons" (though they were based on creatures from various mythologies) and the story having to do with picking a side between God and Lucifer.
Not sure whether or not anyone else has mentioned this, but I wish to bring attention to the Portal 2 situation from way back when. If you don't know, in a nutshell, a guy got mad because Wheatley called Chell (the main character) adopted.
About the pokemon go thing, I think the concerns are valid but the solutions given were shit. The best solution to it was... good parenting. As a child during that era my mum always said "if you wanna play pokemon go, I need to come with you" and as a kid that was epic because it didnt feel like she was watching over me to make sure i didnt get hit by a train, it felt like she was interested in it and wanting to be a part. Just fucken be supportive of your children it's not that hard
7:58 To be honest doing a news report on h*ntai games would only end up informing more people on what they are (which is basically just free advertisement)
Dexit was pretty much what killed all my love for Pokémon. I got Sword and Shield with the DLC for Shield. I was loyal but understood that the games couldn't have every single Pokémon allowed. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I would have been fine if I could interact with my collections (shiny Pokémon and my near complete living dex) that I brought along with me starting all the way back to Ruby. I hoped Pokémon Home would have been like the Pokémon Pelago found in the Gen 7 games. But no. It was basically like its predecessor, Pokémon Bank, but had online trading added , Mystery Gift, and nothing else. The actual games were barebones. Basically, beat gyms, become the champion, Battle Tower if you're competitive, and nothing more. The story was pretty much nonexistent, and there were no side activities like contests. The DLC for Gen 8 only added some stuff that should have been in the base game for the longtime casual players. After that, I was like, "HELL NO!!!" and dropped the franchise. Seeing how Scarlet and Violet are, I am not regretting my choice. The games are focused on kids, and I personally feel that they mostly don't care about their longtime fans who have been with them since the beginning. That and they just keep finding ways to cut game development time and sell what's cut as separate DLC. I fear the day when games are released at 20% development, and players must pay for the rest of th game as separate MTX to even work in the first place.
Dexit still goes down as the biggest blown over controversy in history. Which is a shame, because some people believe if Sword and shield failed, we could’ve had quality control. With that being said, I really enjoyed your approach on this Adam, it’s a nice topic and you were able to handle them respectfully
The National Dex still hurts to this day as a Pokemon Fan! But I would say sending death threats to the Developers is wrong these people work on the games and I plan on getting into the Gaming Industry.
To this day, there are still pokemon you can't have on a switch game. Two generations, seven games and four dlcs, but my Shiny Emboar still won't be able to go further than Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon without being trapped in Home...

@@thevenomspino That also costs money. You had to have Pokemon Bank, which was exclusively a paid subscription service, even if Home technically has a free version (although one that is deliberately inconvenient in order to encourage you to pay).
the irony of Pokemon offending religious groups because the game is inspired by a Japanese children's past time of catching bugs outdoors and raising said bugs.
Just out of curiosity, how is that ironic? I don't really see any irony in it because catching bugs and raising them isn't what got the religious groups offended.
@@Algebruh2407 I think it’s ironic in the sense that it came from a wholesome place yet religious groups keep saying it’s about Satan and whatnot

the biggest appeal of pokémon is having a TON of variety in the pokémon. so then getting rid of some pokémon in the game takes away a lot.
You can still have variety while not including them all.
@@friendlyotaku9525I would rather have them all
I agree, if they don’t let us catch every Pokémon with no National dex, it’s fine, since Gen 7 doesn’t have it as well, but what it does have is the ability to transfer EVERY single Pokémon, for example you can’t get oddish in Gen 7 at all, but it’s still programmed in the game so if by using the GTS or by transferring, you can get one. But since Gen 8, if you wanted a Greninja on your switch game, got luck, because you couldn’t get it until the next generation dropped

You mean the lightweight that can be RKO’d in Smash?
Damn… that must’ve been some time…
It's always funny to me that Pokemon was seen as this evil, satanic video game back then when the original monster collecting RPG series, Shin Megami Tensei, which didn't make it out of Japan until the 2000's, was literally filled with demonic and occult stuff, with the monsters you catch being called "demons" (though they were based on creatures from various mythologies) and the story having to do with picking a side between God and Lucifer.
I guess it's because SMT wasn't aimed at kids, unlike pokemon
They really picked to fight against the bigger fish, it was purely about getting more attention for their news channels or whatever.

My mum once joked about those video games cause violence and called the people on the news actual idiots
The National Dex still hurts to this day as a Pokemon Fan! But I would say sending death threats to the Developers is wrong these people work on the games and I plan on getting into the Gaming Industry.
While it sucks the cut was sadly inevitable; especially with over 1000 Pokemon now!!
Yeah some fans are just entitled
man who cares if the sexy fish isn't in the damn game.
you got like 80 brand new ones to gawk over
To this day, there are still pokemon you can't have on a switch game. Two generations, seven games and four dlcs, but my Shiny Emboar still won't be able to go further than Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon without being trapped in Home...
No one would have cared if they actually updated the models and animations like they said lol. Instead like 6 pokemon got a cool unique animation. But sure whatever
