Leaving something on the table (16:20) for next time is such a beautiful way to wrap up the trip. I love that line of thinking. Your channel has become one of my favorites. The pacing, storytelling, and moments of reflection are just as much a work of art as the images you capture. Really fun to watch you return to the same place time and time again. Thanks for continually sharing your craft and insight. Cheers!

I so agree with your sentiments, Ben. The act of taking the photo is often sufficient reward. BTW, that scene at 12:35... I'd love you to capture that someday.

nice video Ben... im not sure i agree about taking the photo is more important than the end result... in principle i would agree as being outdoors and enjoying creation and the photographic process is defo what its about for many, including me, but you're shooting 8x10 film at a great cost. I wouldnt be tripping that shutter unless I knew I had something worthwhile :)

On that first dead tree can you maybe back up to include that root? I am always drawn to trees like that, I think they make such interesting subjects.

I kinda feel like at the 2:50 mark with the rock divot has potential for a great Ben Horn shot 😊

Totally agree with all the positive comments below, great work, calm, relaxing, reflective, interpretive. Just the way a walk in the woods aughta be. 🙂 15 years to the same spot. That really is impressive. Yes, keep that going. It seems you changed your backpack? Care to share what the new brand is? Thanks Ben, these videos are a real treat. Much appreciated. d:-)

Have been a fan of these videos for sometime but very much enjoyed the quiet masterclass in the use of a light meter in this particular video. That's me away to try it. Cheers Ben. Looking forward to the next one.

Been you have seriously keen eye for composition. I am learning patience, developing my eye for composition, and being more technical in what I do from you're example. Love your work

Great teaching series of the fallen tree. VERY visible changes in the reflected light color. Always enjoy your descriptions of the composition and parameters, Ben.

Thanks so much for taking us along on your visit to Zion. I watched and enjoyed all six episodes and I am always impressed by your considered approach and the patience you show in waiting for the best light as well as waiting for seasons to pass to allow your subjects to evolve. I notice you pull out a small composition/framing tool and wonder if you would share the de5ails on it. I believe I would find something like that very useful. Thanks again and all the best in ‘24.

I don't know if you've posted photos of that Pondarosa you spoke about, but I feel like I know it from past vids.
What an amazing place that is, and I've wondered why you don't carry a good digital compact and photograph other parts that are maybe out of reach (physically) of the 10x8. Something like the superb Panasonic LX100Mk2. Small light very high quality optics (ps I don't own one but had that same Leica lens on the Mk1 version once)
Anyway, all ways enjoyable to watch your vids. Cheers - Trevor

There’s not time min/max as to how often one visits the same location. Once you find that location that draws you back time and again, that’s it.

Does Zion National Park have an artist-in-residence program and if so, are/have you considered applying for it?

So to summarize your composition on the first tree, rather than shoot it corner to corner that you naturally saw because you thought it looked contrived, you spent a lot of time contriving a composition so it looked more natural!? Have I nailed it? 🤣
Joking aside they are fine shots but not portfolio shots but a good product for a day out.
I do understand you not shooting the dead and living scene yet I don't, good luck in the coming years and I hope you bring us along.
