I drove doubles for more than 2 years before my career was cut short via a medical issue. The only thing that sucked about driving doubles was that I had to frequently bobtail or take a single 'pup' trailer to Chicago-local rail yards or drop yards and hook at that location. Sometimes it's a double drop and hook, sometimes just a single drop and hook or just a 'hook'. Pay usually varies for performing these types of configuration hook-ups. Other than that, driving doubles is easier than pulling long-box single trailers. Very little off-tracking, taking turns is easier (due to the increased number of 'articulation' points in doubles/triples driving), etc.
@medfght128 would I have to already know how to drive a manual transmission before coming aboard? Or will someone teach me I have 5 years of experience but every company I worked for only had automatic transmission
@@kaylaharris5011 I just went through Feeder training in Georgia. You will likely train on a 10-speed manual transmission, so they will want you to already know how to drive a regular manual transmission. All of my training and my state exam was done in a 10 speed. However, once I made it into Feeder, it was all automatic transmissions.
Good morning from California. Just came across your channel. Awesome video. Just applied for ups for a seasonal feeders to pull doubles. Hopefully the call back 🤞 been pulling double bottoms dumps trailers for 4 year. Kinda nervous about pulling "regular doubles " keep em coming and drive safe.
No experience really honestly it’s pure luck. Depending where your hub is you’ll most likely be a yard shifter for awhile before you get to but on a job. Best thing to do get your foot in the door as a seasonal worker (summer, winter) if your lucky they will hire you. Took me two years before I got full time.
Is it possible to get in off the street doing this or through the seasonal positions? Im doing this with estes now but ups terminal is 10 mins from house
UPS will hire WAD’s (work as directed) during summer /winter months mostly have you shift in the yard normally 2-3 months at a time but it’s a way to get your Gm foot in the door. Best guess? Go to your local UPS hub see about being hired see what they say.
@@SylentLight if you want to just go into a feeder postion you may have to relocate to a hub thats hiring for a full time feeder postion, make sure its full time and not seasonal i relocated from cali to kentucky to be a feeder. but make sure you have a back up plan
AWESOME video! You absolutely nailed it with the angles and editing 😃👍
Thank you brotha was fun making it.. hope your having a great day

Hi thank you I use a GoPro hero 10 using a suction and clamp mount
@@medfght128 That’s awesome. I hope you continue filming content like this. It helps and pave the way for the new feeder drivers

whats that computer looking thing in the middle?
Going to cdl school with kilm soon and I wouldn’t know what to do backing up with doubles lmao
You aren’t really supposed to back up with doubles. It can be done but they aren’t designed for that.
What's all the hub Bub? They been doing this for more than 40 years that I know of, or is this new to Indiana?
I’m pulling doubles for FedEx Grounds. How much experience you need to get on aboard with the brown ?
