This was a very good drum lesson. It teaches the young drummer a little structure can go a long way to help with your flow of creativity. Your narration of your routine was excellent... Steve gadd's 50 ways to leave your lover rhythm was actually a set of ideas that he had been working on for months, so when the right song came along he was able and prepared to shape and structure the rhythmic backbone of that song... The creativity of that rhythm along with Paul Simon's whimsical lyrics was a perfect fit thus creating a hit song...🎉
Interesting. Letting the phrase run autopilot, not just literally, but also mentally, like a motor in the ear, to start contemplating what comes in 2 to 4 bars, or more. Very useful. Have to check this out for myself. Thanks bro!
