I'm going to New Mexico in September but did not have any remote for self-portrait as I do for my Canon SLR. I want to pack lite for my trip and hesitant on taking my DSLR through TSA and the like. you are the BEST!!!

can i use that for bulb or longer exposure time by pressing the remote for the long period of time?
Nice Video, Can you use the remote for long exposure longer than 30 seconds? The sony alphaA7 doesn't allow exposure longer than 30 seconds without the "bulb" feature, so can this be used for that?

It's more expensive, but I really like the Sony RMTDSLR2. It gives you all the same features, and it has more controls.
With this remote, does the camera lock onto the subject first before it takes the picture?

Hi Benjamin, funktioniert das auch rückseitig mit IR, da du die Fernbedienung nach vorne hältst? Ansonsten wäre es spitze fürs Ronin, um die Bedienung an den Handgriff zu befestigen.

Do you have to point it towards camera?What if you are a few Metern away from camera?
I have cheaper one but without video button. Works great. Also you can use your phone for the same purpose if you have IR transmitter in it.

Awesome "infrarot" gadget, but do you actually have to point it at the front of the camera? that doesn't seem very 'remote'

Die ist echt super. Gibts über Chinahändler mit langem Versand noch viel billiger. Funktioniert klasse. Man muss es halt nur auf den Sensor richten (am Griff vorn)

Yes you can Fernando. Set the camera to 'Manual' with the dial on top, then turn dial knob on back to set shutter speed to bulb setting. Press shutter on remote to open shutter, press again so shut shutter.

I have an a6000, but am getting an A7R2 in a couple of weeks, whats a good lens for landscapes thats not the 24-70 f2.8? the g master stuff is a bit out of my budget at the moment...
For Jaworskyj around the world in germany he used the 16-35 2.8 for A-Mount with an adapter.
Don't go cheap on your lenses trust me because you will have them longer than you will have your camera. Nothing beats a quality piece of glass. I would highly recommend a 16-35mm f4 SONY lens for landscape, and if that's too expensive you can find them cheaper when they are 2nd hand. I remember seeing a 16-35mm lens at Sammys Camera 400 dollars cheaper just because the owner used it for one day and returned it back. Good Luck!
Adventure Edit Thanks, appreciate the advice, I think the 16-35 f4 is probably what I'll end up with. Trying to pick only 1 lens is practically impossible, I like the idea of a 24-70 but there's really not allot of choice under £1500...
ApolloDoener yeah something like that could be good, but I'd prefer to stay native if possible and I don't really need that extra stop of light.... The camera is the easy bit, the hard part is deciding the glass :)
Elliot Finch yeah, right. I suppose, the f4 lose the light in the last part of the lense. The E-Mount lenses are often the A-Mount with 2 cm at the ending because theres no mirror. I use a Fujifilm X-E3 and I think I will buy the 10-24 f4 or the 23 f1.4 (it's a streetphotography lense, but i like landscapes also...)

yes sure:) it does not change anything but you can press the shutter without touching the cam and as well do bulb exposures
How do you connect it
IR-Fernbedienung für den Preis ist gut, das Problem ist das man vor der Kamera stehen muss bzw. die Fernbedienung muss sichtkontakt mit der Kamera haben. Wenn doch mal die Hersteller den IR-Port nach hinten verlegen oder einen zweiten an die Kamera machen würden.

funktioniert sie nicht, wenn man sie in der hosentasche auslöst!? denn bei gewissen selbstportraits möchte man das teil ja nicht im bild haben...

Older Sony Cameras do not have IR built in receiver. This remote won't work with lets say Sony A58

good tip! i prefer using that remote anyway because its small and when it falls in the water or on the ground (what can happen easiliy outdoors:)) it's not that bad and expensive to get a new one.
What I’ve come to like about the play memories app is that ability to no just fire the trigger but I can make all the adjustment like speed and aperture without touching the camera. I also like that it doesn’t have to be in line of sight like an IR remote, you can operate the camera from any angle and a considerable distance from the camera without having to touch it. On that a7riii I hear it’s even better 😉
