Your are a great teacher. Just started photography as a hobby a year and a half ago. Started with a low end Cannon had that pritty much figured out. Then the Guys at our local camera store said a6000 would be a step up with out spending a wad of cash. Your tutorials are helping figure this beast out.
THANKYOUU!! I just bought the same camera with the kit lens and was having trouble getting a strong blur. Im new to photography and had noo clue that the focal length effected the blur, thought it was only a low f stop 😂
I love your videos! They are extremely helpful to me as I am just teaching myself about photography. So a question- using the,50mm lens with my aperture set to 1.8 , ISO 200 and shutter speed at 1/80 for indoor lighting which is terrible. I can not go lower than 60-80 because the image becomes too shaky but if u go any higher the image becomes too dark. Using flash destroys the photo entirely with a very blue tint and ghastly sickly look to the skin. What is the remedy aside from using a tripod?
It was never about the camera but the lens you are using. The wider the aperture of a lens can open, the more it can blur the background. Protip:- use ND filter to reduce the light entering into camera due to wider aperture.
Hey Benjamin. I’ve recently been following you and love your posts :) as a Photographer myself , I was wondering if you had any web site builders that protect my pictures with watermarks to protect them from being stolen on a web site ?
You sound like The Felonious GRU, minion master. Lol Jokes apart. I love your contents. I have been following you for the last couple of months. Thanks for helping us. God bless.
Something that confused me a bit is that you mention to open the aperture as much as possible to get the blurry effect (which i get), but then you use the highest F-stop. Wouldn't a higher F-stop mean a more closed aperture?
I think he meant the highest as in the most open, which would be a lower numerical value, like 5.6. A higher numerical value, like f/22, would close the aperture more and have a higher depth of field, not having any blur
I use aperture priority to blurr the background. But when i use the lowest f stop like 1.8, my pics get overexposed. What do i do. I want to use the aperture priority mode, kindly give me some hack
Thank you so much for good information, I started to understand a little more of the basics. But I still have a bit difficulty to get a nice blurry background. I don't know if it´s me or if the camera is a bit hard to work with. Have you ever tried Fujifilm Finepix HS10? It´s started to become an old camera hehe
Just got my a6000 yesterday and had learnt alot from your videos! Just a quick one, what adapter is required if I were to pair Yongnou 50mm f/1.8 with a6000?
Hey buddy thanks for video Really like it the way take pics. Could you please tell me what camera you were using when demonstration ? Not the one you are shooting this video with. The camera you used to take photo of that flower with blurry background. Thanks
I agree with the technic, but you are still using a relatively large sensor. It would be nice to compare shots taken with the same focal and distance, but using various sensor size... like a full frame sensor vs a small sensor like the ones found in cheap point and shoot and cellular phones
Depth of field does not depend on price. "Cheap" does not equal "bad quality", and "expensive" does not equal "good quality". Where I live, a vintage lens of 1.7-1.8/50-55 mm can be bought for $50-100, not to mention the ubiquitous Helios-44s or Jupiter-37s.
I just watched ur video today man and i just loved it... Watched almost 15-20 videos of urs non stop😍😍... Can u plzz suggest me a lens, i have nikon d5600 just bought my first camera, i want to shoot great landscape, blurry backgrounds with a nice distance so i can shot the whole person with blurry background.
Can you do a video on how to use manual focus on Sonya6000 as well? This was so helpful!
I'm learning a lot from your channel. Thank you!

You make learning photography concepts with these tutorials and humor really fun to watch and enjoy.
Love this video! It answered a question about the camera I have! Now I’m even more excited to take pictures! Wonderful videos!!
THANKYOUU!! I just bought the same camera with the kit lens and was having trouble getting a strong blur. Im new to photography and had noo clue that the focal length effected the blur, thought it was only a low f stop 😂
Your color grading is on another level. Very good video too!!😀

you are a passionate photographer a, greater tutor and fun...keep up!
what about for taking wildlife photos when you can not get too close but want a blurred background? Love your teaching style.
then you need a bigger pocket for a bigger lens.
With this being Spring time and and lots of flowers blooming, this is most fitting!
It actually worked, thank you very much Ben!!
What camera is he using?
I just got an a6000 and idk shit about cameras and you're helping me soooooo much....just wanna say thank you!

Protip:- use ND filter to reduce the light entering into camera due to wider aperture.
So what's better. Zooming in or getting closer? Thanks.
I don't understand. Why did you set f/5.6 and not f/3.5? The latter should let more light in, and thus cause more blur?
New subscriber here, I really love the way you explain everything. You make it very clear and easy to understand
Thanks for this video, now my kit lens doesn't seem so boring 😂🙏💗
