    Thanks for the Tutorial- Just as a side note this remote will work on the Sony a99ii (pixel pro tw-283rx) but you will need to make some adjustments in the camera as well to get to Bulb Mode to work (1) the camera must be set to single shot mode (2) the dial must be set to M (3) dial down to the longest exposure time and bulb setting will show up, If you are not in single shot mode there will be no bulb mode available.
    Also if you want to use the multi shot mode you will need to go back into the settings and reset your camera back to multi shot first but after that you will be able to use the auto settings M/A/P Auto etc..on the camera and the remote should work in multi shot.
    Also you will need to fully seat the USB cable in to multi function port on the camera it will go in and it will look like it is seated but will not work until it has a firm connection.

    Regarding Timelapse (Delay function in intervalometer) for Canon T4i (and probably similar models) users, there's no need to manually set to "Bulb". I initially used the "remote/10s" preselect shutter, but that ended up ignoring the intervalometer and just took the pic after 10s. Another site instructed going to M and turning speed past 30" which is then "BULB". That will then follow the intervalometer settings BUT not necessarily the desired shutter speed, eg if you want it shorter/faster than 1", which is the minimum speed via intervalometer. I tried just selecting "Single Shot" on my camera shutter setting and then hit the Play button on the intervalometer and violà, it does exactly what was set for your timelapse plans.

    I am using the pixel pro because when I use it on my Canon T6i and I'm bracketing, Canon camera will not take all 3 photos for bracketing unless you hold the shutter button down until the last photo has been shot. This remote will hold the button down to take all the bracketing photos.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  6 місяців тому +2

      Yes, I've tested the range. It's excellent. Line of site is easily 60-100ft. As for back button focus, by default the shutter button still will AF on half press. If you disable the AF on the shutter button in the camera menu, the wireless trigger half press will be disabled too but it will still operate the shutter on full press. So you can push the back button to focus, then use the trigger to take the picture.

    Thanks Rob, well explained! Only speaking for my OM-1. I assume the Olympus version TW-283 UC1, is compatible with an OM-1, with another/different cable?
    I was thinking about getting the OM System RM-WR1 Wireless Remote, but, for 1/3 the price, this looks good.
    The only disadvantage I can see, compared to the OM System RM-WR1 Wireless Remote, you have a receiver, where as it's built in on the OM-1, for the OM System RM-WR1 Wireless Remote.
    Thanks,
    Tom
    Update - I dug out my Pixel Oppilas wireless remote that I was using on my EM-1 MK III, along with the optional Canon E3 cable, and it works on my OM-1.
    So, the cable that works is for a Canon, but works on my EM-1 MK III and OM-1
    Pixel E3 Camera Connecting Plug, is for OM-D E-M1X, E-M1 Mark II, E‑M1 Mark III, OM-1
    I'm guessing, if you have one these cameras you could just buy the Canon version TW-283 E3??

    Great video, I am looking for a remote to be able to shoot Squash (the sport:)), and what I’ve found in most remotes on the market is that the distance between the trigger and receiver is short. What is you experience for this one. In the description it says 80 meters (269 ft). Could that be accurate? I will be closer, but still there would be a glass wall in-between!

    Hello Rob, Great video, is there a way to use my camera "mirror up" feature with this device? like to avoid camera shake for long exposures?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  Рік тому +1

      Hi, David. There are a couple of options to reduce shake. No need to use mirror up. If available on your camera, look for a shutter delay mode. On my Nikon DSLR, it's call " Exposure Delay Mode". Set it for 3 seconds and your shutter mode to regular single or bulb mode shot. In this mode, the mirror will go up and then wait three seconds to release the shutter. So if you want a 60 second exposures, set the intervalometer to 63 seconds with 5 second delay between shots. Another option is to use live view mode. The mirror will be up. See if there is a way to turn off the display or set it to it's lowest brightness to conserve battery life unless you are on external power. For long exposures, generally the small vibration at the beginning will have virtually no effect on the image since it's so dark. That fraction of a second of vibration won't overcome 60 seconds of exposure. Hope that helps. -Rob

    Thanks for great video I have just bought one of these and I am using it with a Sony A6000. I have them set to the same Chanel and the remote and trigger are communicating but it’s not triggering the shutter. I can’t work out why. I have my camera in bulb mode. What do you think?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  9 місяців тому

      Usually the problem is having the wrong cable and/or it not connected properly. It looks like the A6000 uses a micro-usb type connecter for the shutter release. If that is the cable you have, then I'm not sure what else I can suggest. It should work.

    Hi, great video thanks for that, the intervalometer has ben confusing me until now. One question for you though, on that very first screen where there are 2 values to set number of shots and the delay on the other, does this have to be used as well as the intervalometer or if using the settings on the intervalometer do I just leave that part out as the settings are done eslsewher when setting the intervalometer up? Hopethat makes sense.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  Рік тому

      Hi. I'm so sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. The "N1" screen looks like two values, but it's actually 3 digits so you can set the number of shots up to 999. But it would look like 9 99. The delay is just how long to way before taking the first image. You need to set all the values. Let me know if that helps or I missed what you were asking. -Rob

    I use back button focusing method. Would the remote focus work on back-button focus?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  6 місяців тому

      It may depend on your camera. On my Olympus OM-1 I have a dedicated back button focus (AF-ON button). I can enable/disable half press shutter button for focus. If I disable the shutter button focus, then the remote trigger will not focus. If I enable shutter button focus, then the trigger will focus. So if your camera doesn't have a dedicated AF-On button and it disables the shutter button automatically when you assign another button to BBF, then it may not focus.

    • @RobTrek

      Make sure you have a TRS plugs (two black rings) and not TRRS (three black rings). The camera is in "half-press" shutter mode which disables the buttons. If all plugs are TRS and securely plugged in, then it's possible the cable wiring is bad.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  9 місяців тому

      Not knowing what camera you have, my guess would be the cable between the receiver and camera. The cable has two ends. A TRS pin on one side, and TRS or TRRS on the other. Most cameras use a "TRS" plug - the pin has two black rings. Some cameras like Panasonic use a "TRRS" - the pin has 3 black rings. See if you can confirm which pin your camera uses. Also make sure you haven't plugged the cable into the mic or headphone jack. Some cameras use a 2.5mm jack for mic which is the same as the remote trigger jack.
