Reading through some of these comments validates my initial reaction as well. I don’t think that these comments are intended to be nasty however they are quite honest. We support your channel by allowing you to have advertisers and also by motivating brands to send you free stuff. In addition, I’ve purchased a number of items through your links. Telling us you want to be closer friends and charging us $300 a year is completely out of the question. Even in the best of times I personally wouldn’t pay that however I do think it is quite tone deaf to your loyal supporters. This economy sucks and a lot of us haven’t had a raise in years, if we are blessed enough to even have a job. As my friends and I used to say back in college “here’s a dollar, buy a clue”.

We have friends. This UA-cam channel may be more of a sounding board for LisaLisaD. I don't want life advice from her. (She's a small-town woman who doesn't have anything of substance to offer me beyond lipstick recommendations. That IS what I'm interested in and that's what influencers are paid to do.) She doesn't understand we have careers, life experiences, and friends, we live in big cities, etc. She dismisses anyone who questions anything she says, or who doesn't care for an item, by labeling them a hater? Charming.
I rarely post and will unsubscribe after this post…I make $400k+ a year (not saying this to boast, just context)…I grew up poor, put myself through college by working 50hrs a week and going to school full time. I have worked my whole life 12+ hours a day to make the money I make BUT I have stayed true to myself.
I own ONE designer purse and maybe 5 pairs of designer shoes and ONE designer belt. None of that material stuff matters…I think I bought all but one from thrift websites/stores.
I have been thinking about unsubscribing for a while as you have become totally unrelatable even to someone making $400k+ a year. Spending $6k on a watch and $25k on designer bags??? Sorry, but I still like to shop at Walmart, Target, Zara, Express and J.Crew.
The $25 put me over the edge and validated that you have become totally unrelatable and are just materialistic./greedy. People are struggling to buy food and pay rent! I gave up my annual bonus which was $400k to be divided between the hourly wage workers at my company. This will allow them to maybe buy their kid a new dress from Target that they haven’t been able to afford due to the economy. That makes me a lot happier than going to Hermes and buying a $50k purse that people automatically think is a knock off.

Also, it is Lisa who is making the money through UA-cam, she is an entrepreneur, she is not ‘given’ it by subscribers, it is paid for by advertisers fair and square. The subscribers get free content. Also, they would still continue to get free content if they don’t join Patreon. It’s an optional extra. Those that can’t afford it don’t have to pay for it. This is business, not charity.

If you truly value your audience, the individuals that have been here supporting you for years and connecting with you, you might want to reconsider the idea of the shift. I don’t pay for friendships or connections. You made a reference to your channel as “transactional” and I would never pay to play. This is reality disappointing.

I believe that if people have SUBSCRIBED to your UA-cam channel that means they WANT to be there. I don't begrudge you a Patreon channel, a lot of people have them, but I do believe the people that are here on UA-cam appreciate you just as much as Patreons . Kind of feels like were being left behind if we can't afford the $25 fee.
I love Lisa and plan to stay watching this channel. I would consider supporting the Patreon if it were maybe $5, but not $25. I do wonder what I will miss out on, but it’s just not affordable for me. I don’t think she was expecting all the negativity. Like someone else said, I think she got bad advice at the conference. $25 for Dave Ramsey and all those millionaires I’m sure is nothing, but we all know what Dave Ramsey’s advice would be to us spending $25 on a Patreon page. After reading comments on the preview clips of the LisaLisaD1 Patreon channel, I checked it out and I found this. "It's all about sharing and caring over a glass of margarita." This statement seems to be a lie. I have watched her channel for a few years and never have heard her mention alcohol. Actually, I thought she said she did not drink. Furthermore, she never 'cared' to apologize to all the women she hurt! Next, there were all types of blurbs about beauty from the inside out. Hurting hundreds of women without apologizing is not an example of someone with beauty from the inside out. I'm so sorry she stabbed all of you in the back.

Lisa I have enjoyed some of your light hearted reviews but lately I think you were priming the audience for this announcement with your Q and A videos. You certainly have the right to do what you feel is best for you but I would not pay $25 for this. I also think you have collected an enormous amount of material things....enough to provide clothing to a small city of people. Lately, I have been more engaged in watching minimalist videos such as capsule wardrobes, thrifting, and generally being more frugal for the sake of humanity and the earth. I think the super materialistic and unattainable for most thought process is shallow.

I am not a regular commented, however until this past year or so have watched each and every video you have put out. When I found you 8 years ago, I binged every video you have made. I have missed video's this past year, all the huge clothing hauls. $2500 and $5000 hauls just felt so wrong to me. You say you watch a lot of news, so I assume that means you understand the economic situation MANY in this country are facing? In my line of work I work with elderly. Do you realize in order to keep the lights on and afford their medications we have seniors eating CAT FOOD???? I am done. I cannot support someone any longer who is so out of touch with reality! I suggest you spend some time volunteering in a nursing home! Or on a cancer ward. Perhaps dish up some plates at a homeless shelter. So no, I won't be a pateron member, or be using any more of your links, like I have MANY times. And you won't be getting anymore adsense money from me watching your videos either. I've only watched on and off for the past couple of years for the makeup products, but I agree 100% with your comment. I see the cameo Lisa inserted in this video of what she was like when she first started her channel. It's very apparent that she's become obsessed with her image and obsessed with clothes and luxury handbags. Pride, vanity, and greed, and now asking people for an outrageous amount of money per month, which is manipulative. UA-cam shouldn't allow this, frankly.

Hmmm. Just a thought Lisa (seems to be consistent with many others). UA-cam is a platform that you (and many others) openly share your thoughts, learnings and insights, alongside fashion, make up and lip combos. It is wise to censor every wild thought in your head and not to project onto others - so not sure a Patreon account is the answer to having thoughtful and considered discussions just because strangers say silly and sometimes hurtful things in forums. There are tools to reduce and eliminate 'trolling' comments, and you are seasoned enough to rise above it. UA-cam is also the same platform that pays you via google ads, sponsorship, commissions and opportunities. Isn't that enough? This has allowed you to generate (and many others) a very healthy income and lifestyle to comfortably drop $10-15K on bags and shoes certainly doesn't go unnoticed with the cost of living crisis (for majority of people). Maybe if you feel you need to ' hold back' on bold statements and eating habits in the digital world, then maybe create a real table to invite physical friends to join. I've been a loyal follower since your start, learnt plenty of tips and tricks on applying make-up and clicked on many a link to shop, but I find it hard to reconcile the need to leverage more money from 'certain individuals' that will be your second/third/fourth income stream.
Makes sense. Creating a real table for people to gather is exactly why I do not have the time to follow my favorite influencers to various sites. I just hope Lisa's content here does not start lacking to the point of becoming boring. Some influencers do. I wholeheartedly agree in not making ones vulnerability a commodity. I just feel the timing and the way this way presented was not the best, hence, the poor response.

I believe everyone is absolutely entitled to their opinion but let me ask a question. Do you watch, but tickets, but merchandise, go to movies etc? You are supporting sports, film, restaurants, tv shows, and the like. Why is it so different for an influencer? I’m truly curious to this question. If she doesn’t bring it for the monthly fee, then drop it. Yes she makes Great living but she took the risk and she is now getting the rewards for her hard work. Most of these influencers sell out to products that they don’t actually use or believe in. Lisa this video made me sad and disappointed. I don’t pay for my friend’s advice and paying for content is a turn off from any influencer. I always thought of you as a breath of fresh air and so thoughtful and genuine but this made me feel icky. I have followed and admired you since your first video. I was conflicted about the patreon at first and did not think much of it. However, seeing the cost of $25 and you laughing at us while calling us "these people" in a condescending manner was just disgusting and made me see you in a new and awful light. Your lack of a genuine response on youtube has been telling as well. "These people" (myself included) have watched your advertisements, bought from your affiliate links and have supported your every other business venture. It is completely out of touch and beyond privileged to think that this is something that people can afford given our current economy and would want to support, esspecially when they are laughed at.

We all have fallen prey to the influencer and the line..'you are all my friends', it is how they get you to watch and keep coming back. We are in part to blame for how far these 'influencers' have gone by continuing to watch and engage with them. If you believed they ever thought of you as 'a friend' you were delusional. Their goal is to continue to keep getting subscribers, video views, its how they get paid. They don't do the videos for any other reason. We all need to stop watching their videos because we are the ones who are making them richer. On TIKTOK there is a 'block' going on and I think it needs to start happening on UA-cam, especially when they start showing the thousands of dollars they are spending to all their 'so called friends'. They are getting rich due to the amount of views they get. Unsubscribe and hopefully these 'influencers' will get the message that we are done with them.
And many of them have lives that most of us can only dream of.
You are taught in these types of seminars to use the word friend a lot. Make them feel like you’re all family. How much they love doing and buying things for us to try…It makes followers come back, like, subscribe, comment, share and buy from their links. Can you imagine what would happen to these UA-camrs, TikTokers and some Instagramers if these platforms went away 🫣

I’ve come to the conclusion that I think the analogy you made is actually the point of what she’s doing. Attempting to get an ‘elite’ group of women with the same values as hers. Values that may be off putting to middle class and lower class individuals. I think she wants a safe space for elitism and classism. A very hurtful conclusion to come to. But, had it not been for this video, that aching sense that something isn’t right, wouldn’t had come to the forefront. So, in a sense I should be grateful for her showing me who she is and what she actually values.

I started watching UA-cam before creators were monetized and, therefore, refuse to pay to watch anyone. I have never made a nasty comment (possibly until now) but I still do not want to monetarily support someone else’s lifestyle . I wish more influencers would take a page from Emily Noel and stay true to themselves. She makes a living without sponsorships, no negativity, no whining, no hypocrisy, just pure honesty. We are all adults here and can decide what we want to watch without having to pay in addition to what creators already make. Charging a fee because you want to filter out naysayers and wanting to play at life coach just doesn’t sit well with me.

I do agree, in that, this could have been marketed better than saying she wants to filter out the negative comments. Anytime you open yourself to the general public there will always be a percentage of unfavorable comments. Fortunately for Lisa, the percentage of negative comments are low compared to the majority that give her such admiration. Many influencers are following the trend of expanding so the real question becomes, how much time does the follower wish to spend hanging out online? I am happy to hear she has chosen to keep this channel because that is all I really have time for.

I’ve watched and enjoyed your videos from almost the beginning. But after hearing this video, I can’t ever erase what I just heard. I think one of the biggest issues for long time viewers is that Lisa always came to us as “we’re friends”. She would say we are all just girlfriends sharing fashion and makeup tips. Many viewers, some who may be lonely, believed her. The non supportive comments are coming from a feeling of being used. Friends don’t charge money for friendship. We, as a community, built Lisa. That’s the truth no matter how it sounds. She was able to travel, make money, have endorsement deals, all because of us. Without loyal. consistent viewers Lisa could not and would not have achieved anything on UA-cam. Like most businesses, if the customers turn the business folds. Once betrayed a relationship is never the same. There are new, fresh and fabulous UA-camrs out there who aren’t all shopping and who are relatable. I hope to see many of you on the journey to find new ideas, new personalities and new perspectives from new UA-camr! This could be a fun challenge- who can we build next! PS - I’m a woman, kids made this name for me lol.

I watched your video the other day, and felt so disappointed and disgusted. I wasn't sure at the time if it was just me, but now I came back to see the other reactions that really validate the way I was thinking. It's interesting that you went to a big seminar with big name business people, and then you come back with this "great" idea of charging a $25.00 monthly fee to all the people who have been viewers of yours (me included) for years. It's even more disappointing, as mentioned by others, that you can show video after video of Chanel purchases, Hermes, etc. and then ask for money. I'm sure most people that follow you can't afford to spend that kind of money on purses and jewelry. I agree with many who said they originally came to watch makeup demos, hauls but this is taking it too far. There are people out there who can't afford to take their children to McDonalds for dinner. I agree that we are already "supporting" you and your channel.

Lisa, I have been a subscriber of yours since I was 24 years old. I am now 37. In some ways, I've "grown up with you." This announcement is really disappointing on numerous levels. Asking a 25 dollar subscription fee in this economy seems tone-deaf, to say the least. Disguising said fee under the illusion of "I just want a closer friendship and relationship with you guys" seems icky and disingenuous. You even said in this video that you want your relationship with your audience to be more "transactional." I am truly sorry people are not always kind, but let's be honest, charging your loyal subscribers 25 dollars a month misses the mark and has absolutely zero to do with "kindness" and instead, is just a money making ploy. As my grandpa would say, "Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining."

This is exactly how I feel. I’ve been here since the kids were in elementary, and middle school. I knew before she said what the announcement was she was about to start charging. I thought to myself that conference gave her some confidence I see. I don’t mind it honestly, because I came for the makeup, and fashion, and I stopped watching when she started “coaching” I’d like it better if she takes it over there, and leave most of her makeup, and fashion here.
She always gives great advice. She isn’t leaving UA-cam. She is just trying something new.
I think so too/but many of us are dealing with things we never had to deal with in many years. There are a lot of people hamstrung by the rules of UA-cam and not being able to speak is a strange thing. People should not get used to this country. You should be able to say what you want from there’s a fire and there isn’t one. I kind of look at it like many of us deal with extreme things in the workplace and I kind of wish snippy women was the only thing I had to deal with.
