I'm 305 pounds, being obese is not fun, it's a miserable life. I know because one time I went to Walmart with my sister and there was staring and whispering behind my back. My sister told me about it. Obesity is no life to live
"If all I had to do was lose weight.." is a statement that negates obesity as an actual disorder. People don't understand that the reasons for being obese are medical ones. If it was so easy to lose weight, obesity would not be a big issue. People are obese for various reasons but it's rarely because they wake up and decide to be 600 lbs. Usually there are deep seeded psychological issues or food addiction or an eating disorder at play. People just assume that all fat people can just change like it is so easy but when you are so obese your body and hormones change making it very difficult to overcome and many would rather just live with it than keep fighting.
@@susettemclachlan8765 Apparently Houston is no longer the fattest city. Which probably doesn't mean people got thinner, but that another city got even fatter.

In Canada the children aide did want to pass a bill that allowing your child to become overweight is abuse. This was met with many disagreeing as they saw it as invasive. So it went no further.
I agree to a certain extent but I was overweight by the time I was 12 and the reason why was sexual abuse that had been occuring since I was around 3 years old. I told but wasn't believed and that person was allowed to live in my childhood home until he moved out when I was around 13 but by then I was already wearing a women's size 11 pants and nobody believed me or got me counseling so food was a comfort for me. I can't explain why but I just know that's why I began overeating. I am an adult now and was able to lose 56 lbs.
“I am not making any effort to lose weight just to lose weight.” Okay, how about losing weight so you can walk? Or so you can live? Those are good reasons!
That man ate enough to feed at least 4 adults so that he could get a free meal, and he seems proud. I do not understand that, to me it's disgusting, wasteful and it's damaging his health.
@@tickone8572 - I'm pretty sure that episode was based on my father. I told the story of my father getting kicked out of an all-you-can-eat seafood evening at Long John Silver's in the presence of someone who worked in the show. I was surprised when I saw that episode.
Tiffany’s son is adorable. Just listening to him, and watching him as he contemplates his situation…he’s going to grow up to be a good man. This was four years ago. Hope there’s an update on all of them. Hope they’re all doing well.
That was 20 years ago. He's such a nice boy. He's intelligent, a very nice personality, a good son and a good-looking boy. I would love to find out how they are all doing 20 years later.
I was an obese kid raised in a household of unhealthy eating habits on both extremes. My mother raised me to be ashamed of eating, and obviously I developed an eating disorder. Seeing the interactions between Tiffany and her son is striking to me because it’s such a positive, healthy relationship. To hear her supporting him in his future, to truly wanting what’s best for him, to taking a life-threatening route to secure a place in that future, it’s truly just so packed with love. Then him being able to laugh and open up around his mother with healthy boundaries (“what girl you like?” “That’s confidential”) man. Heartwarming. I hope they’re doing great nowadays.
Diane died 2 years later. She made me a bit cross. She boasted how good she looked and how comfortable she was in her own skin but, she couldn’t put on her own shoes, couldn’t walk and when she talked she seemed to be gasping for breath.
What a weird kind of suicide...she did it to herself. And its not about beauty as she said "I love how I look" it's about health....Im not shocked she passed so early.
Obese kid: "He eats more than me but his metabolism is faster so he doesn't gain weight" Friend: "I dont eat a lot that's why I let him eat most of my food" Dude😂😂
My Grandmother gave me advice to always wear pants, skirts & dresses that have buttons or zippers and not stretchy fabric. As soon as the button seems a bit tight I know go cut back on calories. Keeps you honest
For MOST clothes this works, but I have a pair of stretchy pants that is a bitch to pull on after it’s freshly washed. I’ve been the same jeans size for 8 years so I’m not concerned about my size, but just the wash/dry cycle can change the size of jeans
I know she’s not doing anything except sit there and talk, and she is out of breath. Sad, but maybe there is something wrong with her throat, she mentioned having complications from a past surgery.
I found this absolutely horrific to watch. It was like passing the scene of a devastating accident and not wanting to see dead people but not being able to look away either. My background is in psychiatry, but I don't think I have ever seen so much denial in my life. For Diane to think that her weight should just be accepted is nonsense. She must have had severe medical issues. But she just didn't see it as a problem. I think she had given up. The fellow doing competitive eating and being proud of it has just admitted he has no meaning in life apart from eating. Only Tiffany had any motivation to get to a normal weight and I hope she has been successful. But what a tragedy for everyone else.
The first step in beating addiction is accountability. 90% of addiction is psychological. As soon as I figured that out, I didn't just beat addiction...I kicked its ass.
This is exactly what I was thinking. As a nursing student I can’t fathom how easily she justifies her weight problem! She must be in excruciating pain, have diabetes, hypertension, etc. Not to mention the fact that she relies on a motorized wheelchair to get around, that alone should be a wake up call.
I'm watching this on day 6 of my 7 day water fast, losing 12 pounds during this span (and having lost 20 pounds doing OMAD/18-6 6 weeks ago. This show is motivation lol
“Just because I am fat does not mean I am not attractive.” At this point, she should not lose weight for physical appearance; she needs to lose weight because of her health. If you gain so much weight to the point where you are crippled, you need to lose weight.
Health is beauty. The physical appearance comes from inside: your skin, your smell... Less of her problems is she looks pretty, she should care more about not dying in a couple of years

My mom is 86 and she’s obese and 30 years ago when she was at her heaviest she said, “if I had known I’d live this long I would have taken better care of myself.” … I have always remembered this. It degrades your quality of life and compromises your health. You can be in denial all you want but you are not healthy if you are too fat or too skinny.
Wow that's a good lifespan! How is she now? Being a little bit fat for old people is good because when they get sick its so easy for their body to cannibalised itself. Lucky you, you have a good gene to put on weight but still don't get debilitating illness.

I found Diane’s obituary online, she died in 2006, just two years after this documentary was made. And she wondered why her family were concerned about her weight, her parents had to bury their child and they could see it coming for years but she thought they had the problem.

166 pounds is not bad...it also depends on height and age. People who exercise regularly can be 166 pound and still slim because muscle has a weight too. It's the ration of body fat and muscle ratio.

So I looked up diets or hacks that might cure pcos and found keto on youtube and google. I lost my first initial 60 lbs in a matter of 5 or 6 months because I was very heavy and have steadily been losing weight with moderate exercise and portion control since. I reversed all my symptoms with sensible food choices. I have my moments where I overeat but I have managed to completely change my lifestyle and outlook on food. I try and stick to low carb but if I take a break I need to be sensible about my food intake. But I usually notice some creep back on. I'm a food addict so every day I have to make sure I'm eating the right things in the right amounts. Which got easier as I adjusted my lifestyle to fit with good food and fitness. For the first time since early childhood I'm not obese! so losing weight was probably the best decision I ever made. Obesity causes a whole slew of health issues that I wasnt ready to have at only 22. And for the first time since jr high I'm in single digit pant sizes and weigh in the low 160s. It's the sugar and seed oils. Italians eat lots of carbs, olive oils, meats. Which some consider unhealthy, but really they're not. American's food culture is high fructose corn syrup fried in soybean oil. I go to the grocery store and foods you wouldn't typically think to have added sugar, does. Bread, peanut butter, oatmeal, "breakfast" foods that are basically dessert. Bacon, baked beans, canned fruit and soups, sugary yogurts and milks, sauces (like pasta sauce), dressings, crackers, smoothies, and of course, flavored coffee. Don't even consider Starbucks, everything is a sugar bomb.
@@Bloxicorn Last June I cut carbs to a minimum, like maybe 25g per day. I'd already cut the sugar right down but wasn't losing much weight. However, after cutting the carbs I went from 12 st 9lbs to 9 st 12lbs in 9 months (177lbs to 138lbs for the Americans; the Europeans can convert it to kilos because I don't deal in silly measurements even though I can do both). Carbs are converted by the body into glucose but because so many carbs are eaten the body doesn't burn the glucose; instead the liver deals with it and stores it as fat. This why exercise has little effect on weight. There is so much excess glucose in the boldy from the carbs, it is used for energy. If you cut the glucose right down your body will start burning your excess fat for energy.

I grew up in Texas. Even though this video is several years old, nothing has really changed. I see all levels of denial in my family. I've pushed for healthier choices within my family but they don't care. They consider themselves "thicc", "heavy boned" or "eating good" when in reality they are sick, obese or morbidly obese. There's a warped sense of health, much like the first woman who didn't see herself as obese. My father didn't see the problem with having mobility issues. He didn't see the problem with not being about to walk very much or fit on an airplane. My siblings catered to him. He was on all sorts of meds to keep his blood pressure, diabetes, and failing kidneys in check. He even lived with me for 3 months (overseas) and lost weight with simply taking his meds as prescribed, eating proper meals and being forced to walk 4 times a day. He use to say it was the trip of a lifetime and he couldn't wait to travel more. But as soon as it was all up to him, he would stop taking his meds, eat double what he should and joke about eating a whole package of oreos or donuts in a sitting. And guess what, he's dead. Dead because of the choices he made even though he knew exactly how to live a better life. And after all of it, he died alone - and we are left to live with that pain.
No, don't let Satan torment you, [late at night, right?] your dad was an adult, he knew the dangers. He once had you to show him the way to good health.
GageyyBoyy Family history in health is often given exaggerated importance. Most health problems, like weight, cancer, etc. are behavior/environmental, not genetic, but people tend not to ignore this, maybe out of fear or guilt. The hardest problems to face are self-inflicted. I work in medicine, and one time a patient with severe COPD, from smoking, was extremely tearful about their diagnosis and hospitalization. The next day, they were upbeat, and mentioned that they remembered that in their early 20s they worked in a factory with strong smells, and THAT must of damaged their lungs (not the subsequent 40 years of hard smoking).
GageyyBoyy not everyone can lose weight like others. Maybe try to understand that we aren't the same, many have hipper active thyroid that is a big problem for people to lose weight.

I’m Italian. We have a massive food culture, and the same idea that you need to love eating and be a big eater. However, NONE OF US ARE FAT
Quit bragging.

Ain’t nothing little about that landwhale including her lies...
It's called being in denial
She's so in denial. So typical.
They are the ones dying from Covid. The excess fat presses against their respiratory system causing the breathing issues that kill them when they get colds and flus like Covid.
This is really sick! How about eating to live, rather than living to eat? How about being able to look after yourself, rather than being dependent on others just to put on your shoes?
I feel so bad for the kids because they don't know any difference. They see their parents do it and they follow.
agree with you
fat culture is a scary thing
Yes. It's so sad to see the children being fed the same fast foods, huge meals at home,no exercise. It is a major epidemic, obesity.

This video is no joke. I moved to Colorado not long ago and so far havent seen anywhere near the morbid obesity here that I did in Texas! The active outdoor life is much more of a thing here than it ever was in Texas
Try being a NURSE in ANY health care facility there and you will see that it really is a problem no matter how often the obese ones desperately stay in denial. I have met Them....lots of them.
Try being an EMT trying to load a desperately and emergently ill 600 lb person into a bariatric ambulance after taking them down a flight of stairs.
Or try being a surgeon contemplating doing vital emergency surgery on the same patient knowing as he/she does the huge risks involved with a supersized morbidly obese patient....that is, if your OR Suite even has a surgical table large enough to accommodate an individual of this size

Dianne is so defensive about her weight because she knows she's lying to everyone - especially herself.
She claims she's beautiful while we all can see she has to shave her face daily - a common problem with the obese is whacked out hormones.
Well said
Dianne spends an extensive amount of time defending her position/situation. Okay fine, we all have rights. But what if we (the community) forced her to become fully independent. That is take away the personal care giver, remove the food delivery service, remove the oxygen supply, etc. She would expire in 24-48 hours.
Typical American she is aye?

Carol Howard I think the problem is that after so long not being able to do certain things or having trouble with simple tasks, you just assume that it's your age or that these things are hard for everybody. I've met 50 year Olds who can't get around without walkers and I've met women in their 80s who still exercise every day.

It’s less effort to convince others she’s happy, then it is to actually do something about it. She’s as miserable as sin I guarantee it.
I hate the BMI normally. I would say for people like this, yeah it's definitely applicable. However, Arnold Schwarzenegger's BMI when he won Mr. Universe was 30.8, which is considered obese. Therefore, I have made it my fitness goal to go get in shape enough to the point where the BMI actually lies about me. Few things would please me more than going to my next doctor's appointment with 7% body fat and and overweight BMI.
This people are literally proud of overeating and being obese. This is sickening
A person *should* be healthy, but they don’t have to be. They can be cool with being fat if they want
@@ski7301 yeah but taxpayers shouldn't have to subsidize their lifestyle and medical treatment.
Nah only one or two. Most of them are doing their best to change. I'm fine with them.
@@ski7301 ok but when that costs the health care system a shit ton of money, that's not cool.
@@ski7301 no you can’t because you are putting your health at risk. There is nothing acceptable with being fat and obese.
I’m sorry for your loss…
thought about returning to your country? I know of four woman under the age of 50 who dies from Obesity!

“there’s a history of obesity in my family”
they need to stop using that as an excuse and lose weight.
GageyyBoyy There's a history of heart disease in mine but I stay in the gym
There's a genetic disposition to gain weight faster and have heart and health complications, but yeah it's not excuse. It should be a motivator.
GageyyBoyy not everyone can lose weight like others. Maybe try to understand that we aren't the same, many have hipper active thyroid that is a big problem for people to lose weight. Many didn't have a good childhood and made thire addiction to food. It's not easy to give up just like a alcoholic or a drug addiction.
GageyyBoyy - my family kinda are thicc but here I am 87 pounds and idk how to gain weight..
I couldn't get over how big the portions were when I went to the States.

The 600 lb woman fussing about fat being "acceptable" for men, (its not) and carrying on about how "unfair" things are for fat women, smh. The entitlement. We all know that woman ain't working. Not unless shes a fetish sex worker..
It makes me sad to think of how many people are starving while people like this are stuffing themselves.
Being fat is about neglecting your healthy, not about being attractive. I use to weigh 242 lbs. I was so uncomfortable and my health wasn’t great. I had high cholesterol and pre diabetes. I cut off carbs and eat healthy fats and lost 60lbs. Im no longer pre diabetic, and my cholesterol and blood pressure are now in the normal range. I’m working on losing an additional 30lbs.
