Good review but you're dead wrong about the exhaust. The Type S is far more aggressive vs the Type R.
Couldn’t find a louder setting. Maybe it was buried in the menus or possibly a stuck valve? The noise was my only real complaint.
Weird, sport + should have given you the most aggressive settings but even in comfort, it's significantly louder than the Type R. Just do some searches on stock Type S exhaust, it's common knowledge at this point. @@revmatchtv
They said the car has to warm up before it gets aggressive.
You cant hear it as much from inside the car due to sound deading in the acura thats the reason
4:13 this seems like a huge oversight. The Type S sounds much more aggressive. It has one less resonator than the Type R and a unique tune with way more pops and burbles.
agreed, have both cars in the family and the ITS sounds waaaay more aggressive than the CTR. not even a competition when talking about sound
If there’s a more aggressive setting I couldn’t find it or the valve didn’t open. I was hoping more sound.
@@revmatchtv there is more pump in artificial engine audio in the type R. Make sure sports + is enabled in the type S
Nice review!
My attainable dream car. I hope to get my hands on one brand new in a few model years later on down the line.
It's a great car!
Nice review! I can pick up an ITS for zero dealer markup but the wait is about a year. My question to you @revmatchtv is this, between this car and a manual supra, which is more engaging and which one would you put in you garage?
The manual Supra is more engaging, but it's not terribly practical. It's tiny vs a very usable 4 door. Different category of car and I think what you put in your garage really depends on your needs/wants.
53k plus 25k markup here in LA
I’m in LA and YIKES!
You cant hear the exaust from inside the car due to more sound deading in the acura compared to the honda .....its not a lower sounding exaust than the honda
I agree with what the other guy said about the Elantra, best bang for your Buck by far. Especially with the new face lift!
No comparison. The money you save on the Elantra you’ll lose in depreciation. These cars aren’t gonna depreciate much, they’re the last of truly great ICE turbo cars
I think Elantra N will lose a higher % of purchase price to depreciation but less money overall. ITS is not a limited car and already easy to find for MSRP - I wouldn’t be surprised if you can get it under MSRP in a year or so. Both cars are great.
@grahmdoughty post a video of one at MSRP.. they are asking 70k here in elk Grove. I have a link if you need proof.
@@Vosovogalsyncope I bought mine at MSRP. I was one of the initial 200 preorders from Acura though.
@@Vosovogalsyncopecomparing anything in CA to the real world is asinine 😂😂😂
2:35 that could have ended bad…
Complete lack of attention!
I wish we got it in the EU
For $20k less (Canadian) Elantra N will match the pace. I suspect that no other front-drive in existence is as rapid up those impressive roads. Perhaps Type-R, but it's hardened track focused setup might be problematic for the bumpy street.
The Elantra N is fantastic for sure, but in a different class of price and refinement. It’s my go to suggestion for affordable performance.
@@revmatchtv so for sub $35k does nothing beat Elantra N, BRZ, and Miata? Depending how practical you need it then WRX for up north
@@FATmenDRIVEtrucks Sucks about Subaru's BRZ engine, otherwise, it'd be the go to for cheap fun. I've done some really bad snow storms in my EN and it does well. That's LSD also works wonders in the slick stuff. Also 6.3L/100km while cruising on highway (6MT) is nice. Easy to potter around without tapping into the turbo.
Practicality and price aside, would you rather own this or the BRZ/86?
They are priced VERY differently, especially with markups, so it's hard to ignore what is reasonably a $20-25K delta between the two. I think the twins are better drivers' cars. The Acrua however is much more refined and has a whole lot more usable power and makes a much more enjoyable daily. It's really in a class above the twins. I own a GR86 because I enjoy it as a lightweight track toy. The engine lacks character, but it's an excellent back to basics, affordable sports car that comes in at 2,800 lbs. It's perfect for me, but like anything 'affordable', it comes with compromises like road noise, lack of real back seat, plasticky dash etc.
@@revmatchtv I *really* want the Type S. I just can't justify paying 52K for a dressed up Civic, no matter how spectacular the shifter and drivetrain are. It's just not a good value proposition.
@@shrimpgordita Fair. You’re bumping close to BMW territory at that point
52k well worth it
Price too damn high
Where are you dude. Hope everything is okay.
Been working on a new channel pretty heavily @vacuumnerds
I think it's worth it because it has no mark-up like civic type r
People are reporting markup. I can’t predict what dealers will do.
That wheel hop, rev hang and cheap looking seats for 53k. Um NO.
Every high powered FWD car I’ve driven has wheel hop. Unfortunately it seems inherent to the FWD layout.
4 doors more h
Get the M340i if you want more h lol
