    I got the old proton ar and wanted something lighter for spring and not so cold days. This jacket is perfect and have been really happy with it. Thanks for the review.

    Thanks for showing the difference between the old and new FLs. Do you use a softshell on it? I have the gamma SL and LT but not the MX, I was wondering since you really like the gamma MX (i watched your gamma video) would you prefer the gamma mx over it?

      The gamma SL and LT would fit over it just as well as the MX. I just like the MX better now due to the colder weather, and I'm not out there doing any kind of strenuous activity where a lighter shell lighter may be more appropriate. I like the extra bit of warmth from the MX

    Did you find the newer LW version to be a little more trim fitting than the previous FL?

      Arc'teryx just revised the jacket again for this Spring. It says on their website that the fit was revised. I have not tried this most recent version, so I cant say exactly what the changes are. The two versions that I have, (the newer one is about two years old, the other a year older), fit me really nice. I really like the way that they fit, and they are not big and baggy at all. A question about the new fit on their website was answered with this: "the fit has been revised with the smaller sizes now being tighter and the larger sizes being looser, while the medium size remains the same."

      Thanks for the reply Chris. Your comments are spot on. Ended up trying a sm which is my Arc tts. More trim fitting than any of my other Arc jackets. Very flattering fit but felt a little snug in the shoulders/back area but nothing crazy.
      Decided to try a med for good measure. It ended up being too long and having too much room in the front/stomach. Immediately noticed the difference. Sure there’s more room to layer but I didn’t want this piece for that.
      Stuck with my tts and with a tee or sun shirt it fits much better than the med. This octa loft is something else! What have I been missing. Cant wait to put this jacket to use.

      @@mrb401 Nice, I hope that it works out well for you. I have the Proton pants too, same octa loft knit in those too. They are awesome. I think Arc'teryx took them off of their website now, but I hope that they bring them back later, maybe in the Fall.

    does the new version breathe better? When sweating, how does it feel with the new inner shell comparing to the mesh liner of the old version?

    • @meandmyjackets
      @meandmyjackets  2 роки тому +1

      I believe that they both breath just as well. Both are very comfortable, but I think the new octa loft lining is a bit softer. You can't go wrong either way.

    The hand pocket is the Octa all around cover both side of the pocket or only 1 side? Knuckles or palm? Thanks!

      The pocket has the octaloft on the palm side, and a soft thin fleece on the top of the hand side. It's a nice comfortable pocket.

      @@meandmyjackets thanks for the reply.
      I think ArcTeryx on most jacket don’t put the insulation on the top of the hands. And only leave the fabric or thin fleece.
      I’m looking to replace a Mountain Hardwear Kor Airshell warm. The downside to that one the mesh lining is a bit rough on the skin and could cause irritation. As they don’t have the loft toward the skin like in this Arcteryx.
      I saw the Mountain Equipment Kinesis is similar with the Octa insulation.

    What you prefer for spring and fall
    Proton fl or the proton lt I cannot decide.
    I would wear it for justwalking also. For winter I would combine it with a rush is or gamma lt or mx for get warmer and be protected for rain and wind and snow.
    What would you go with?
    Is the gamma lt also good as shell for the fl ? In winter.

      The Proton FL is a lighter jacket than the Proton LT. The Proton LT is more comparable to the Atom LT. The LT has heavier insulation than the atom LT, but is more breathable. so in colder weather, the proton LT may be warmer than the FL. That being said, I really like the Proton FL for the spring and fall when it is cool but not cold out. It's really soft and comfortable. For winter either would work under a shell, with the Proton being warmer. Both would work under the Gamma LT, but I like my Gamma MX better for the winter. The Rush IS is an awesome Hardshell! I hope that answer helps.

    Would you mind commenting the fit difference between atom SL and proton FL(revised)?

    • @meandmyjackets
      @meandmyjackets  2 роки тому +3

      The Proton FL seems to be cut a little trimmer than the Atom SL. Another person asked me if I could layer a proton FL under the Atom SL, and I was able to do that without any problem. I tried it. I don't think the atom would fit under the Proton as well. So to me the Atom SL is cut a little bigger, but it is still considered to be a trim fit as is the Proton FL.

    I don’t want to come off as rude but you definitely need to remake this video due to the audio being so horrible. I’ve seen your other videos and this is the only one I noticed that was bad. Just some feedback especially since no one else is coming the two protons side by side

      Thank you for the advice. You're right, I just watched some of it myself. Not sure what happened. Thanks for helping me out. 🙂
