- Steakhouses are an American tradition, from the fanciest eateries in the largest cities to the down-home local spots yards away from the cattle. While many steakhouses are happy to keep up methods that have been around since the first steakhouse in the U.S., Delmonico's in New York, opened in 1837, others are just as happy to break away from the old ways and do something new.
Steakhouses of both types are represented in our list of the top places in the country to chow down on some top-quality beef. Get ready for a road trip. These are, hands down, the best steakhouses in America.

Which steakhouse is your favorite?
Perry's Steakhouse and Grille. Houston (HQ), Dallas/FtWorth, Austin, San Antonio, Denver, Chicago, Miami, Birmingham, Raleigh and Nashville.
Lugars
One word “ Berns”
@@stephenmitchum5864 do you mean “BERNS” in Tampa? 😂
@@geraldbrienza4474 yes voice text hates me.
Now that it is getting warmer outside, time to get the barbecue grills fired up!
I live in Ohio, and I just brought mine out today. Supposed to be in the 70's the next few days.
For about $16 you can cook the best steak ribeye 🥩 you’ll ever had right in your back yard. While your pockets stay in tact.
Good food never fail in bringing people together.🤤
You forgot St. Elmo’s Steakhouse in downtown Indianapolis. It’s been there for 120 years. Definitely worth the trip for a delicious steak and their signature shrimp cocktail!!
I treated my wife and her parents to dinner at Ruth's Chris and the meal was great. I wouldn't say it's top of the line but it is a dependable spot to entertain. Their Lyonnaise potatoes are to die for! I hope one day to live where there is a Ruth's Chris. Currently I live on the Kitsap Peninsula (WA state) and there is nowhere one can go for a good steak.
Maybe so, but in WA you can buy a nice cattle, raise it, and have nice cuts for weeks!
The Cattlemen Steak house has been a staple of real Texas beef for years. Not fancy or trendy but rock solid food. We always go there when visitors come into town.
These are right up my alley.
Wow Mashed finally got something right. Bern's is the best steakhouse in the world.
never forget the first day i did some work for mr laxer gave me tour of kitchen so clean you could eat off the floor live fish actually swimming in tanks the most impressive kitchen ive ever seen and i have worked in a lot of commercial kitchens the worst i ever saw was the spanish park in tampa no longer in bussiness or the columbia is a filthy tourist trap
agreed!
truly a bucket list experience
It’s a Vibe 🏖 😎
I went to Jeff Ruby's a couple years ago. Spent $350 on me and my date. It's not cheap but it was great. They use a pretty complicated method of making their steaks and steak seasonings. Their Mac & cheese also uses a ton of ingredients. It's next level lol.
I've always said if the food is good, you don't mind spending the money. Sounds to me like you got $350.00 worth. 👍
You could have had 50 friends over for meatloaf and mashed potatoes.
Hundred dollar steak served with Mac and cheese? Did they serve martinis in sippy cups?
@@diegomontoya796 So, your version of a night out with your girlfriend/fiancée/wife is a trip to Denny's?
@@diegomontoya796 we actually ate a lot more than that plus had a couple drinks. That also includes tip. My steak had wagyu beef on top of it. She had Lobster and steak with the Lobster Mac N cheese(when Jeff Ruby's used to sell that). We also had an appetizer. If you watch videos on Jeff Ruby's, you'll see that they put a lot of work into their food. Our last dinner was $380 at another restaurant. That one was on par to a one Michelin star restaurant. I'm a Foodie and like trying good food as a hobby.. That's just how I am. 💁♂️
@@billh230 not even.. 50 people at Dennys is at least $500 if it's $10 per plate, and I think that's one of their cheaper plates we're talking.. They must be thinking more along the lines of taco bell or a fiest made from the cheapest ingredients at their local discount grocery store.
I've never been to any of these, but if there's a steak house on the planet better than Keens Steakhouse in NYC, I have to go there.
I loved lonestar back when they were around
Knife is awesome. It’s one of my favorite restaurants.
Thanks, Mashed!!! I have never become so hungry in such a short time!
Okay! It's past midnight and I have rumblys in my Tumbly!
When you want the best, you get the best,at place’s like these place’s to go to.
Del frisco was hit so hard by COVID they pretty much lifted their dress code lol
Good food never fail in bringing people together.🤤

Philadelphia also has a Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse. I can just go there instead of hopping on Amtrak to NYC. As low as $2 bus fare to Philadelphia 1 way for me.
I've ate at Sperry's a few times. Always fun. My favorite is Mastro's. Some of the best meals I've ever had.
Where’s Peter Luger in Brooklyn, NY?!
I've heard only rave reviews of it, but sadly, I have yet to visit.
Berns was solid and I’m from Vegas.
They forgot to mention Texas Roadhouse
love the Double Eagle! We eat at the Fort Worth and Dallas locations, all my New York friends say steak is better down here. So IDK
Alls good at all of em my opinion.
I’ve eaten many steaks at many restaurants all over the country. The only one on this list I’ve been to is Del Frisco’s and it was fantastic. However, the best steak I’ve ever had in my life (and I’ve eaten there many times) is Murray’s in Minneapolis.
California grill on top of the Contemporary hotel had the best steak in Disney.
No Houston restaurants? shame
Noti gang
Bar Ranch steak Co. In Plano TX hands down the best
Selanne Steak Tavern Laguna Beach!
You’re not a real steak lover if y go to those places
Nothing beats a local and authentic steakhouse !
Cheers from San Diego California
What do you recommend?
Good food never fail in bringing people together.🤤
Gas lamp strip club!
Did you know that the word “Chicago “ in Italian means, ‘ I isht here’. The city lives up to its name.
Idk about other states but we have Texas road house here in Mansfield Ohio & its amazing!!! 1st time I ate there I said Logan's who!!
I like Bonanza's.
Aberdeen Barn Steakhouse- Williamsburg, Va. Grate Steaks- Williamsburg, Va. (out of business)
I’m shocked Cattleman’s made the list and you cannot mention Cattleman’s without mentioning Mad Mary’s in Pierre as well. Both are excellent. Morries in Sioux Falls should have been considered as well. But Cattleman’s has amazing history and the views are awesome as well.
There is Berns and then there is every other steakhouse in the world. Don’t go there, it wrecks every steakhouse dining experience you will ever have. Every wine enthusiast should also put this place on their bucket list.
agreed place has almost a other-worldly atmosphere between the food, vibe, and DESERT ROOM
The best steak spot near where I live is a chain but salt grass is pretty damn good!
only one I have ever heard of is Del frisco's
Bones in Atlanta.
I remember asking a NYC local about where to get a steak in Manhattan for a decent price. it was expensive enough that two people had to split the steak; honestly, I expected better. It's name (vague memory) began with a D and was in some triangle shaped building IIRC.
Delmonico's. He should have taken you to Keens or Smith & Wolensky's.
@Gaetano Maximus we could barely navigate that part of Manhattan. I thought it was Delmonicos, thank you
@@Stache987 If you've ever seen a John Wick movie, the exterior of Delmonico's is what's used for The Continental.
You can’t throw a rock in NYC without hitting a “good” steakhouse but it’s hard to find a great one. My go to is midtown Wolfgangs. Very consistent, good location and a friendlier Luger clone. In order to get to great you have to go dry aged which is expensive no matter where you go. If you aren’t going dry aged, skip the steak option in NYC - terrible value.
Del Frisco's is great! Wish they didn't close in Chicago.
Chicago used to go Christmas shopping with entire family every year and we always went to THE Rose Bud !!!! Sure miss those times!!!
The waffle house has a good T-bone. 👍
Delmonico’s in nyc is the best in nyc
At this point, with beef prices and fuel prices the way they are, some of these places might not be around long, because the average American can't afford it.
These are some of America's best steaks, so big and they seem to have a lot of tradition and history.
I'm sure these are all wonderful, but I want to give a shout-out to Cattlemen's Steakhouse in the Stockyard District, Okc, Oklahoma. Priced right and has been ranked in the top ten of all steakhouses for years. Just not this one.
Nothing west of the Rockies.
I wouldn't consider myself a provincialist who believes that Tampa is the center of the Universe; however, I was slightly dismayed by the introductory statement for Bern's steakhouse: "in the truly unexpected location of Tampa, Florida". Why is it "truly unexpected?" We have some better than "decent" universities, culture, and sophistication. It's not all strip (malls and clubs). Some of us know what a Patek Philippe is even if all we own is a Rolex or Omega.
Tampa may not have the glitz and glamor of Miami Beach, NYC, or LA, but it can be a pleasurable place to live. My main complaint as a multi-generational native is the decline in our once thriving family-owned restaurant culture. We have been swarmed by, and capitulated to, a plethora of mediocre chain restaurants; however, I believe there is still hope for us. Truly unexpected, bah!
well put
Hi, nice reviews but you are not including any Argentine restaurants. They specialized in steak and there are severals restaurants in USA. Their country export the best quality meats of the world. Thanks.
420$ tomahawk? BRUH
I makes my own steaks. As good or better for a lot less $$
Why are half these places from nashville?...
Enjoy this gold now. The waste behind this kind of food is insane.
None in the Pacific Northwest? OK, we will stick to Seafood. and the best steak in the northwest comes from our BBQ grills at home, of course.
Als Char House LaGrange Park IL
"Hands down"??? Nah. These are good, but you can't leave out Peter Lugers in NYC, or St Elmo's in Indy.
Carnivores rules
What about Ruth Chris steak house
Just tried their Seattle location. Wasn’t impressed.
Stk Orlando is only rated 3.9 stars on google sounds fake
STK is WAY overpriced for what it is. The steaks are decent but double the normal price, as are the drinks. If you want wagyu beef, it’s $100 per OUNCE. It was no better than any other high-end steakhouse but twice the price. The service was about on a par with other steakhouses. Would I call this one of the best in the country? No.
I live in NY. Del Friscos is overpriced and underwhelming.
I’d go keens over them any day.
Im sorry... 600,000 bottles of wine?
Yeah, I thought that was over the top too.
"live Maine lobster"
This was the absolute worst list I have ever seen. RPM? Del Friscos??!!?! Did they sponsor this?
Why put a sauce on a great steak? Sure way to ruin it.
This is downright abuse!
Who loves meat?
Me
Yes, with baked potato.

@@katiatannus3146 lol 😆 😂
Me.
You telling a stake review but you talk about wine(that I hate) and side dishes, if I want to go to a stake house I want stake
"Stake"😂😂😂😂😂😂
This vid managed to butcher all Japanese pronunciations.
Ugh, sorry, but the food you show from these places looks disgusting. I suppose if I was after a pretentious meal rather than good food, I might think otherwise, but I'm pretty secure in with my station in life and I know what I like.
You do realize fish is meat?
Bern's Steakhouse is grossly over rated.
Not the best steak I've ever had, but far from the worst.
I like their dress code, their servers were awesome, their menu selections are terrific, however my porterhouse was never "great".
Been 3x, and disappointed with each visit - 3 strikes, I won't go back.
Fully agree with comments about Cattleman's Club - a top rated meal.
Same to be said for Del Frisco's in NY - just wow.
I heard if you eat meat you automatically are sentenced to hell because you don't respect the Creator's grand designs of life
