I remember when they first opened up, so many people bought the burgers back because they would add mustard on the burger, took them awhile to get the idea we in the northeast didn’t put mustard on the burgers. I now order the Jr whopper
Burger King franchises in my area are all owned by the same company. They struggle desperately to keep good employees and the quality of food suffers. From my experience, I would rank the "King" dead last.
Yeah, I know this is about chains, but the best burgers that I have ever eaten were made in a roadside bar and grill that had a lunch menu. The bar was short on charm but a taste that crushed any chain. But sometimes it is easier to good job when you are only making 100 burgers in a day instead of tens of thousands.
We had a place like that growing up. All the employees wore white outfits head to toe and even hair nets. A full meal was $1.58 in 1972. Add $0.10 if you wanted a cheese slice.
@@alanfan8941 so true, a local joint voted best burger in town for years running is the only place I will have a burger. AND it is so good, I consider the trip as a treat. Breakfast is pretty good too.
I went to a White Castle in New York once and asked for a half dozen of their cheeseburgers, the girl at the till said we don't have dozens but you can buy six or twelve of them... Her supervisor was standing behind her and took her aside for a couple of minutes.
@@dwayneevans683 What crawled up your rear. It's comical that a young girl would not be aware of terms such dozen but that doesn't mean you can be derogatory to her and to those working at basic entry jobs.
@@RodGolding we still have the teen, grandpa, mama, papa burgers, floats, onion rings, the works. There’s now an uncle burger and buddy burger, like we still have the 1950’s to 1970’s us recipes over here there was some sort of company split and American A&W is now just a shell. At any Canadian A&W, ANY one at all you’ll find a LINE of truckers and their rigs lined up there at any given hour of the day or night lmao. I have to literally stop myself from eating there because it’s addicting as drugs
I had a Wendy's Baconator junior. The BEST FF burger I ever tried. For the most part, I make all my own burgers on a Charbroil Big Easy grill the allows for smoking while grilling. Doing it myself, it's hard to surpass a cost of $2 even with premium buns and real cheese.
I have a Culver's near my apartment and every so often my sister and I stop there for lunch. The place is always sparkling clean, the employees are always friendly and helpful and the food is always out of this world. Their burgers are only one attraction. Their frozen yogurt is by far the best I've had. Their concrete mixers (like a Blizzard, only thicker) are to die for. Or you can just get a pint of any flavor you want already packed and ready to go. Their prices are a little steep, but for what you get (clean eating area, friendly staff and great food) it's worth it.
Culvers in Lansing, MI (or Okemos, MI) are both DISUSTING. They are the least liked of the burger joints around this State's Capital. I don't know what they were doing so wrong in MI, but I rather go to McDonalds. They're horrible.
@@xagain3106, I started eating Culver’s on a trip to Wisconsin. We were so pleased when they opened the first one in Okemos. Then when the one opened buy the same owner near the Expressway it was closer. Something must have really happened because we used to go to both all the time and were never disappointed. Haven’t been in years since they opened one in Howell. Always great at the Howell location. The Howell owner has the one near near the Expressway on the way to Novi too.
Went to 5 Guys once in the Tustin Market Place (now closed). The burger was decent but the cayenne pepper on the fries gave me the worst case of the runs I've ever had. I put the scene in Dumb & Dumber to shame. Never went back and they were waking distance from my work but so was In and Out Burger who have never disappointed food wise but it was a let down when they stopped offering hot yellow peppers.
When I was in my mid-teens, I ate 25 White Castles sitting at the counter. My waitress said that she had never seen anybody eat that many in her 20 yrs. of working there. After that location was torn down for a bridge project, she was transferred to other locations. A few years later I ran into her at a WC that I frequented and she remembered me. She even told her fellow workers that I was the one she had told them about. I was flattered, but only had maybe 10 sliders that night. She said that I still held the record of what she witnessed. Yes, I did give her a generous tip that night. She retired soon afterwards. JMO.
I ate 32 of them in a contest and still came in second. First place devoured 49 of them. It was a 20 minute time limit. I still won $250.00. First place got $500.00 and 3rd place got a $100. I did that at age 19 weighing only 145lbs.
Man you thing that is a feat? A friend and me had not met in years, we regrouped at an Italian restaurant, we each ate a Pizza the size 2 seater table, and the waitress said she had never seen that in her life. We are both Scottish.
As they got near the top I was thinking that they were leaving out Culver's. Never expected them to share my opinion that theirs are the best burgers. There is hope for the burger eating world.
That's the only one they got right in the whole video. Yeah, I went to the end just to see which place was thought to be the best. And, I agree. Culver's Butterburgers are GOOD!
@@StvMcQueen1 IDK, Five Guys is pretty mean competition. Culver's kicks ass, but I would still rank Five Guys higher simply due to both how great their burgers are and the sheer mountain of old bay covered fries you get.
Tried them after seeing this review. Nothing special at all. Not as good as 5 Guys or even Wendy's. Even the local Frost Bite ice cream joints burgers were better.
@@juniorjohnson9509 You are entitled to your opinion, but I couldn't disagree more. 5 Guys are OK, but overpriced and nothing special. I just had Wendy's today and they are a good fast food burger, better than many higher end places. Culver's beats them both, and everyone else I've tried.
I’ve been passing on fast foods since sophomore in Hs. I’m 61now My father a cattleman , we ate real beef all my life , straight from his packing house The difference ws unreal I’ll never be able to eat that fast food ,meat , I’ve got to see what I’m eating. Cooking your own food is healthiest , you know what’s in there!!!!
That's the key to a good burger. High quality beef, Never frozen, placed firmly on the grill for a nice carmelization and not messed with too much. When they fall apart when eating... That's what I'm looking for in a burger. Were the burgers you grew up having had these qualities?
I find the charbroiled carl's burger is much better than burger king. And they said the sourdough jack is good but the ultimate cheese burger is mushie the meat is the same just different bread
The best burger I have ever eaten is the ones I make myself, only three toppings, green relish, ketchup and a thick slice of sweet onion. Toasted bun is a must..
Plus they just neglect the fact RR offers bottomless sides. I'd argue RRs price is pretty fair and even kind of a value compared to other restaurant chains.
While waiting in line at some burger joint I heard the guy in front of me order a "cheeseburger with cheese." At first he impressed me as just some hick. But later it occurred to me that if had said just "cheeseburger" he might not have gotten what he thought he'd ordered. The corollary to Paul's post: Ordering a "hamburger." If you don't want cheese, doesn't "hamburger" say it all?
1970's I believe, Fuddruckers was awesome back in the day! Unbeatable. Steak sliced to order and beef ground fresh right there at the place. They had a bar, and kids activities as well. LOL! HUGE burgers and fries. Not anymore, not even close.
Sonic's double is delicious. Carl Jr.'s Western burger is fantastic. I live in NY. Honestly, a Cheeseburger deluxe from a diner is the best. McDonald's is a comfort food. A sentimental treat.
The only burger I order from DQ is the Flamethrower. It also might be my favorite fast food burger. Can't speak for the others, but the Flamethrower is A+ every time.
They are a ripoff. Nothing like years ago when they were 12 cents. Ill never go there again. I could grease my car with the fries I got last time I was there... (Three years ago).
I had somehow forgotten my years of devotion to Carl's Jr's Western Bacon Cheeseburgers when I lived in California. Onion rings and barbeque sauce on a double bacon cheeseburger sounds gross but it is heaven. I recall a coworker trying to explain the flavor and passionately encouraging me to try it at the order counter 40 years ago.
Man, remember back when Wendy's burgers were dripping in grease and the bun and salad were on your shirt leaving you with a meat and cheese ball in your grease covered hand? Soooo good! Now they're too health conscious to taste and "wear" right.
Bingo Best fuckin comment 45 years ago Wendy's was THE place for the best fast food burger on the planet A great burger is defined by three things - Grease, fat, and cholesterol If it's not sloppy, dripping, and disgusting it's a piece of shit
Worked several years as an electrical inspector and have been in the kitchens of many of these chains . Culver's , Wendy's and Whataburger have the highest cleanliness and hygiene standards.
OMG! Red Robin below Burger King? I’ll pay the money at Red Robin any day! When you lived around McDonalds, Burger King most of your life, Red Robin was a big welcome!
I've been working at Red Robin and their company sucks! I think their beef is not very good quality and I'm putting in my 2 weeks tomorrow to go work for a local restaurant/bar.
I rank Culvers the number 2 Burger joint. The best Burger is the Portillos Double Bacon burger, it is huge. Please do not be one of those people who eat everything plain like some 6-year-old. The burger has to be fully loaded, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onion and Pickles.
Tried In-N-Out several times and the while the meat patties are smashed thinner than the tomato slice, over-inflated buns make it look like a much bigger burger than it is. Good fries, though. Put a White Castle next to In-N-Out and I'll be eating sliders. Rally's is much better for both burgers and fries. On a par for quality with Whataburger, but without the variety or customization.
Yeah Half of these Are just someone's opinion, once i heard them call Sonic bland i knew they never ha a sonic burger,. When the Saltless McDonalds, Carl's Jr. Beef is not considered bland,. its time to check the taste buds of whoever made this filth
I totally agree. I remember when the Western Bacon Cheeseburger was introduced back in the late 80s loved it ever since. I also like Sourdough Jack. It came out my senior year in high school back in 97. Good times
Fuddruckers was the freaking bomb back in the day. Great buns, crazy choices of meat, cooked to order, tons and tons of cheese sauces. Sad to hear it’s not the same
It was a regular on my rotation for lunch until they decided to close down the west coast spots during Covid. They were just fine, and I've ben eating there for 35 years.
Precisely, she was bitchn about how small the burgers are and that you need a lot to fill you up and that its embarrassing? She fails to realise that's why you go to whit castle in the first place, to eat a bunch of them, she even showed harold and Kumar with all their burgers. She has no idea what shes talking about
There was a White Castle by my high school. It wasn't just the burgers, they have good fish sandwiches and the surf & turf. They combined two burgers with a fish sandwich. It was smokin!
I don't care about the size of white castle hamburgers. They are SO good! Just hearing her mention them made me want some but there are none in the state where I live. Ordering a bunch of the burgers is part of the fun! My mouth is watering!🤪
For the money, In-N-Out Burger is by far the king of the burger chains, IMHO. Utah has both the #2 and #1 burger chain so I will try a Culver's unless its 3X more pricey like another commenter mentioned.
BK is waaaaaay too high. Smashburger is my favorite because of taste, customization, and their fries. Five Guys is really good for just a burger, but I would agree with Culvers being higher because of their varieties and their cheese curds. Yes, I know this list is for burgers, but you gotta include what can come with it.
Burger King should be dead last to be honest. Maybe in concept it should be better, but absolutely every one in America is horribly run and completely bland.
I think BK is exactly where it needed to be. There is a caveat about the particular flavor they go for in their patties, but within that, they're where they are. Sometimes YMMV. That doesn't mean other people are wrong.
No. Because the only time I've ever, in my entire life, seen that is in a restaurant. The movie Falling down (1993) is 30 years old now and even then they pointed out how it's never like it is on the menu. The only way I can see a fast food joint doing it like it's on the menu is if you lived somewhere extremely rural and the employees weren't being rushed. Even then you have to get someone that cares and wants to make it look as good as advertised. Restaurant's will do it, if it's a half decent place but fastfood/drive thru? I want what you are smoking because it was never like that.
White Castle used to make an oblong burger that I would eat at least twice a week, but my favorite and I’ve tried them all is whataburger best tasting with just lettuce, tomatoes and mayo ❤
White Castle is ANCIENT history.. Yuck! You have to TELL THEM to steam it? Gotta be kidding me. Horrible. You kiddies don't remember White Castles when they were actually addictingly good. Mushy and moist. They were stuffed into that cardboard box for a reason. You could easily eat 10 at a time. And wanna go back for more. That ended around 1980. After 1990 - we never went back.
I used to love Fuddruckers. We had one around a 1/4 mile from my house. I'd go there on a Saturday and eat their Monster Burger (16 oz. IIRC). Went to Fatburger on the Vegas strip once, loved it. There's a Shake Shack at Citizens bank Park, I love that Shack Burger.
The Canadian A&W is different from the US version. We still have the delicious Teenburger I have loved since I was in my teens, nearly 50 years ago. The food sourcing for the Canadian A&W is controlled by the Canadian company and they have been focusing on higher quality (eg, only grass-fed beef, chickens fed only vegetarian diets, etc.). And we still get to enjoy that great root beer and their onion rings. Thanks, A&W! (BTW, I don't work for them and never have. I am just someone who has been a happy customer for over 50 years).
Also Canadian here, and I'm now curious to know how bad the American version is. I was wildly thrown when A&W ranked below McDick's. It's not even a contest, A&W is much better. Although the chicken feed thing isn't a selling point to me. Chickens are omnivores! Left to their own devices, they normally eat things like insects, which are an important part of their natural diet. They are not SUPPOSED to eat a "vegetarian diet" - that's a common marketing claim to swindle consumers who don't know how unhealthy that is for the chicken in question. I avoid their chicken products for the exact reason that this means the meat will be lower quality. But the beef...better than average.
Harvey's used to be better than A&W, but somewhere along the line their quality slipped. Same thing with Dairy Queen; they used to have the best burgers after Harvey's.
In Marion Ohio about an hour and fifteen minutes from us, there is a Stewart's drive in root beer stand. Part of the building dates back to 1924. They still use the formula which was originally made in Mansfield Ohio. They have order boards at each parking spot and hang your order on the car door if you choose to eat there.
When I was a kid my mom and dad gave us the 30¢ to pay for the school lunch. You could walk down about half a mile and get a Hamburger and a small Rootbeer at A&W for 30¢.
The best item at A&W is the chicken strips. Which is weird for a Chili Dog & Hamburger place. However, it's likely because the Chicken is cooked to order and never pre-cooked or stored in bins before you get it. Unlike their Hot Dogs or Meat Patties.
When my kids were younger and I didn’t want to cook, they always voted for In and Out, I always craved a double Whataburger with cheese and jalapeños. Here in AZ there is a new White Castle, and the lines are so large they bring police in to direct traffic. If time is not an issue, those things are amazing. They’re the only burger I don’t want cheese with em. They don’t need cheese🇺🇸
Forty years ago FatBurger's was without argument the best burger to be found in a retail setting. They had it down. I lived in Los Angeles at the time and they were only two locations. The one I frequented was was this tiny building that couldn't have been more than a couple hundred square feet in size. That included the area behind the counter. There were no tables only a counter which would accommodate maybe 20 patrons at a time. It was not unusual to have the counter stools filled and people lined up 4 to 5 deep waiting for orders to go. I never once actually ate within the building. It was just too damn crazy. But the quality of the burger made the madness worth it. I can't even tell you how extraordinary their burgers were. Today, as this once tiny gold mine has grown the quality has gone down as their market shares have gone up. Today, they aren't in anyway special. Yeah, they offer a better burger than McDonald's, Jack, Sonic, White Castle, Burger King, etc, but not that much better. They are very much like Fuddruckers was back in the early 70's. Fuddruckers simply blew me away when I visited the first time. The store was in Spokane, WA. It was outstanding. Fresh. Made to order. A bit pricey, but nothing else comparable was to be found. They, too, grew and as they grew they went from one extreme to the other. Both Fat Burger and Fuddrucker were once leaders in the hamburger business, but now just a couple of totally unremarkable dining establishment lost to progress - that is if you consider going from remarkable to run-of the mill progress. Today I wouldn't walk across the street to eat at either. Both are over-priced and survive by reputation only.
It's pretty much confined to New Mexico, but Blake's Lotaburger is an institution there. Their green chile cheeseburger is world class. And their delicious fries are cooked with the skins on!
Yes. I love Blake's. Unfortunately I don't go to New Mexico any more since my Aunt and Uncle passed away. That was one of the things I looked forward to when we went to Albuquerque. That and the best Mexican food ever.
I went to Five guy and spend $19. for a small hamburger and small fries and a shake, I went to McDonald and got a 1/4 pounder with fries and a shake for less then $10 -- they were both good.
I'm in Canada here's my rankings here (including US chains I have tried) 1. A&W. Teen Burger is nostalgic and the Uncle Burger has to be considered one of the best chain burgers out there. 2. Hero Certified Burgers. I have limited experience trying but they are good. Service is slow though. 3. Harvey's. Just a tasty burger and you can top it any way you please. This is what I eat the most. 4. Jack in the Box. Favorite US burger chain I've tried. Huge selection to satisfy any tastes. 5. South Street Burger. Pricey but high quality. Limited selection. Unfortunately several locations have permanently closed. 6. Carl's Jr/Hardee's. I can see why obesity is a big problem in the US. The amount you get for relatively cheap price is astounding. And its tasty to boot. 7. Wendy's. My favorite sandwich there is actually the spicy chicken. Burgers are bland. But points for the fresh patties. 8. Five Guys. Bland tasting burger to me. Pricy. But the fries are gangsta. 9. Burger King. Quite often the burger isn't fresh and has been sitting under a heat lamp wilting the lettuce. BK....no way. 10. McDonald's. Not my thing. Maybe have a Big Mac once per year for nostalgia reasons. Then I feel like I've swallowed a brick. 11. Dairy Queen. They have no business making burgers sorry. NR White Castle. You get more full on the bun then you do with the meat. Sliders aren't real burgers sorry. Nonetheless they are pretty yummy.
When I was in LA I got a burger from a food truck called Gooey Louie's that is still stuck in my head because it was and still is the best burger I've ever had. I'd have to say Culver's comes the closest to that experience.
Huge variety in the 🇺🇸 US.We have only two of all the places mentioned. We have McDonald's and Burger King.We do however have our own local franchises, but not sure if we can compete. Our meat is top notch, the rest we will have to learn from the experts.A big hi five from South Africa 🇿🇦
Thats why the obesity rate in the USA is probably 10 times higher than South Africa and the rest of the world....too much of a good thing, turns out bad...same goes for the thousands of other choices of poor nutrtion americans have available that other folks drool over but luckily for them dont consume...
I remember Jack-in-the-Box from when they had a presence in the Chicago IL area back in the 1970s. They were OK, and I did not mind eating their burgers now and then. I kind of wish they were still around, if only for the sake of a bit more variety. But they pulled out of Chicago by the early 1980s. That sourdough-bun burger sounds interesting and appealing.
@@alfredhernandez9799 Is there some misunderstanding? I meant I agreed with you. When the video started talking about Sonic, I turned it off, that's "the Close button" :)
I saw a picture of a Wendy’s bacons cheeseburger and my mouth watered. 30 minutes later I was struggling to finish that cardboard square ◼️sandwich which I didn’t finish! Now we only eat at IN-N-OUT BURGER 🍔
I live in the land of Culvers in Wisconsin, their burgers are always made fresh per order to your liking also with never frozen beef. The frozen custard is always great too. I ate In N Out, Carls Jr and Jack N the Box in las Vegas and Culvers truly had them all beat.
I agree with my fellow Cheesehead about Culver's burgers and custard. Both are great (though some Wisconsinites will argue that a true Butterburger has a nice pat of butter on the burger itself). Cheese curds are great too. My second choice would be Wendy's. As for A&W , I sometimes go there, mainly for the root beer, but I usually get it as part of a Papaburger combo, and the burger's always been pretty good. Fries aren't always too good though.
Oh man, thanks for this report on my favorite food.! And I must admit fond gastro memories of Hamburger Hamlet, on Sunset in the 1960s. Yeah, I’m a baby boomer. HH was the BEST.
I went on a Carnival Cruise & they had a Guy Fierari’s grill for burgers. It was honestly the BEST HAMBURGER I have ever eaten! We did not get one until about mid way through the cruise - but from then on, got lunch there every day. It was incredible!🍔
Some on your list I've never been to, like Culver's, Burgerfi, and Fatburger. For me, my favorites are Shake Shake, In-N-Out, Wendy's, and Johnny Rockets. Five Guys are good, but the price makes me go somewhere else. I've heard White Castle isn't very good. I would say it's unfair to include Dairy Queen (ice cream) and A&W (root beer) because burgers aren't their No. 1 draw. I can't wait to try Whataburger for the first time when I go to Vegas next month.
The practice that some of these hamburger restaurants have of pressing the burgers on the grill spoiled the meat. This makes the meat tough because the juices are removed, leaving a dry patty. The best burgers I have had are cooked on open flame.
When was a kid in the 1970 and 80's, A&W and Dairy Queen were amazing burgers. Dairy Queen won out with great milkshakes and crinkle cut fries, but A&W with their real glass, freezer stored, frosty mug of their own root beer was such a treat too. Plus they brought your food out on a tray that hung on the rolled down window of your car with your food. It was at least novel. But those days are gone. Jack in the Box is good for their "nasty" tacos, egg rolls and their teriyaki chicken and veggies (you can ask for extra veggies too!!!), but their burgers are a total disappointment. Carl's Junior's Famous Star was my favorite in my teens, but their California Chicken Sandwich of the 1990's was the best. It had sprouts, jack cheese, was super delicious.
AND, they have the BEST FROZEN CUSTARD. Used to stop and have a meal then take back TWO quarts of Vanilla and Chocolate, back to my 18 wheeler, to eat on the road...
Watching first minute of the video I thought I saw myself, rewind the video and looked closely and it was me, sitting with coat on eating a burger, couldn't believe it, anyway great video, Culver's is the best.
My favorite hamburger was made at a place that is no longer in business, SAMBOS! Actually my favorite was the one served in my home town in Montana, called THE MINT CAFE. And it wouldn't cost a small fortune to take your family. You could order two hamburgers and a milk shake for under a $1.00, 30 cents each! And you could even play games that gave you a chance to win They were nice and thick and juicy and even people with not every good dentures had no trouble eating them. Of course this was in the 1950 when fast food places in Montana were very rare. It was a Mom and Pop cafe and they took care of you like family. And of the ones you mentioned, I liked Jack In the Box burgers best (the deluxe one)...!
Despite its limited size, Smashburger does have a hidden menu. To name just a couple, there's the Windy City Smash, a regional burger for Chicago and Denver, and the Sin City Smash named of course for Las Vegas. Hidden menu items can be ordered at any location though they have to look up the recipe and that depends greatly on how busy that location is. Also, you haven't lived until you try their Smash Fries, tossed in salt followed by a mixture or rosemary, garlic, and olive oil. Yummm!
Red Robins Gourmet Burgers are amazing, and I think paying a few dollars more than a fast food place to get a Burger 3x the size and about 10x the quality is well worth it lol.
Add to that the massive burger choices and bottomless sides and it truly is a winner. In what world does BK rank higher than Red Robin? Apparently, in a Mashed World.
In Northwest Indiana, you only go to Steak and Shake if it is after midnight, you want a shake, or you are a theater kid and you all just finished your first show haha
I’d say leaving, “Habit,” off the list is very strange. It was voted best burger by “Consumer Reports” in 2008. I can say that living in Santa Barbara, I like them better than,”In & Out’s,” great burger.
Steak and shake, I have to disagree completely. I am 74 years old. When I was in school in Florida we would drive to steak ‘n Shake. It was impressively wonderful. They had fresh beef, that the Burger cook would grab a handful of beef, sometimes the way that sometimes they didn’t. It depended upon the experience others cook. It was always juicy and full of flavor seasoned perfectly. The basket of shrimp, in a state, where shrimp was readily available every place, in Daytona Florida, was adequately good. If they had used a larger shrimp it would’ve been perfect such as a 16 to 20 per pound size. Over the years as I traveled, I found the burger going downhill. Recently in the last five years, I gave steak and shake another chance. It was worse than ever. The cook kept smashing it into the grill, as pieces flaked off he would throw them away making the burger even smaller. I got a flavorless hunk minced leather, the toppings, was all I could taste. If you love mustard ketchup and black pepper, skip the burger ask for a bun, and put ketchup mustard and black pepper on it you won’t miss the burger.
I agree with you completely. I lived in South Georgia for 16 years, only 25 miles north of Tallahassee where there was a Steak and Shake. I too thought it was great when I first went there. At the end it committed suicide as there was no longer any business.
One of the best burgers I ever ate was a Quarter Pounder with Cheese at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. Older sister and I had taken our niece and nephew to the museum while I was visiting, maybe around 1990. They had a McDonald's at the museum and we stopped in for lunch around 11:30 am. Am not a big fast food fan and I doubt that I have eaten a McDonald's hamburger since, but it was so fresh, juicy and delicious that I still remember it.
Those days are LONG gone. At one time (~40-45 years ago), the best fries on the planet, not just fast food chains, literally on the planet, were McDonald's fries. Those days are long gone as well. It seems that McDonald's main aim in life is to come up with burgers in which you can't even taste the beef, and keep jacking up the price. I once did the Grand Slam, as we called it. A Double Whopper with Cheese from Burger King (with the original sized Whopper, but with two patties), fries from McDonald's (the original good fries), and a really big root beer from A & W (in the original frosted glass mug). Eating didn't get much better than that when you were 25 years old.
You ranked Burger King and Wendy's fairly high yet both have fallen in quality farther than any food in my lifetime. I would love to once again get a real flame grilled Whopper or Hot n Juicy double from Wendy's from my youth. Other than the name all has changed.
Yeah I agree about Burger King, used to be pretty good. Sad to hear Wendy's has fallen, I have fond memories of stopping in on my long drives to college for a triple cheeseburger and a Frosty.
Agreed. Was about to comment similarly. B. King used to be fantastic. Wendy's hasn't fallen quite as far as BK tho. Fortunately Carl's Jr. Super Star with cheese still has quality flavor. Most the time anyway.
I like Wendy's, In and Out Burger, and Five Guys (although they are expensive). Very interesting video, I didn't know there were so many burger places!
I have not been to a good hamburger restaurant since the 1980 . It was a windys in las Vegas NV. It was almost as good as in and out. But since then they all have dropped the ball. I can get a better burger flavour by licking my shoes.. and that is sad... I grow up in the 1960/1970 .l always injoyed the experience but now I am afraid to tryout anyone of them😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Wendy's has to die for sausage gravy in the morning. they have biscuits too but they aren't that good. Gravy over fries, or just drink it straight it is amazing. Peppery and lots of sausage.
White Castle is forever in my mind! I love em when I’m craving them. What’s happened to the burger business is the introduction of pink slime in beef processing plants!!
Every time I’m back in Texas I always stock up on whataburger items. Spicy catchup, jalapeño ranch, pepper sauce and the honey butter goes on everything.
They have those sauces in containers that are like the size of a average mustard or ketchup container in a texas grocery store (like H-E-B) or any Walmart and they will be whataburger branded.
@@justinford3606 the Website, on both desktop and cell phone only lists locations that are in the general vicinity of where the person is located. After the war and dad came home from the pacific he went to school at night and worked during the day, once in a rare while we went out for dinner which was White Castle and I loved those burgers.
If you are old like me you may remember the original Whopper - 7 or 8 inches in diameter. You truly needed two hands to handle a Whopper!
The patty was thick enough to actually be pink in the middle.
@L There is nothing wrong with a nice soft woman. I prefer them that way.
I remember when they first opened up, so many people bought the burgers back because they would add mustard on the burger, took them awhile to get the idea we in the northeast didn’t put mustard on the burgers. I now order the Jr whopper
Jack In The Box Jumbo Jack was the same. Remember the commercial " It's To Big To Eat"

True. The Burger King by my home is terrible. The one by where I work is good.

I remember it well. Scrumptious burgers delivered direct to your car by pretty carhops and handsome waiters.

Sometimes the old Mom and Pop places that aren’t part of a chain, have wonderful burgers and often put home fries on the plate for no extra charge.

Love, Love, Love Culver’s!
Culvers in Lansing, MI (or Okemos, MI) are both DISUSTING. They are the least liked of the burger joints around this State's Capital. I don't know what they were doing so wrong in MI, but I rather go to McDonalds. They're horrible.
Culvers would be near the top of my list. I don't think I ever had a bad burger there. They use fresh beef which means local beef.

$15 for two burgers at 5 Guys here in Los Angeles.
That's funny. Never been to one myself.

JMO.
Eat there, every day.

Burger King should be dead last to be honest. Maybe in concept it should be better, but absolutely every one in America is horribly run and completely bland.

the fact they made the list put them too high
I think BK is exactly where it needed to be. There is a caveat about the particular flavor they go for in their patties, but within that, they're where they are. Sometimes YMMV. That doesn't mean other people are wrong.
A&W in Canada is a completely different story, it's a great chain.

I am just someone who has been a happy customer for over 50 years).
this video is just plain bad theyre ranking Fast Food. want good burgers go to a local place
I look
Harvey's used to be better than A&W, but somewhere along the line their quality slipped. Same thing with Dairy Queen; they used to have the best burgers after Harvey's.
In Marion Ohio about an hour and fifteen minutes from us, there is a Stewart's drive in root beer stand. Part of the building dates back to 1924. They still use the formula which was originally made in Mansfield Ohio. They have order boards at each parking spot and hang your order on the car door if you choose to eat there.

How much did Burger King pay for this outrageous ranking
not as much as wendys apparently. they say the wendys burger is 'euphoric'
Burger King is gross there very dry
@@patrickschorre2143 I find them kinda bland and I don’t get full

As a Wisconsinite I can attest to Culver’s having a great burger.
And their onion rings are the best.
As a Michigander I agree! I grab me a double bacon cheeseburger and onion ring once a week!
I agree! Their custard is very good!
Culver's butterberger is so good!!!!!!!!
I’d say Culver’s and shake shack are very close champs, factoring price Culver’s wins.
I'm in Canada here's my rankings here (including US chains I have tried)
Maybe the best burger I’ve ever had was off a food truck, near the Disneyland hotel and the retail area before the park.
those one of a kind food trucks can be awesome.
Putting Burger King, and Steak n Shake above Red Robin, just shows that you have no idea what you are talking about.
insulting burger king; ok. But steak n shake? you clearly have never been to either steak n shake or red robin ever in your life
@Sagitarrius A* Ostrich and Elk? Now I'm sorry it closed here.
@Sagitarrius A* fudruckers was horrible
@Sagitarrius A* had 1 in Michigan 1 in Chicago tried them both .both are out of business,
Whataburger and in-and-out were terrible too the few times i tried. Five guys is being sued for excess antibiotics.
Like all things, it's subjective. Each to their own. Eat what you enjoy and don't worry about others approval.
For what Five Guys Charges you should be getting a Ribeye Steak with your choice of Potato............👀
But their fries and burgers are top shelf and fully customizable.
Had them twice, bland both times. I don't get the big deal about this joint.
@@Seventizz sorry that you had a bad experience
@@Seventizz It's the fries. The burgers are ok, but the fries are spectacular!

You are not wrong, Culvers is heads above the rest.
Too much bun.
@@casandrala8370 I agree - not impressed.
I was told that when in Las Vegas, try Denny's.
Oh man, thanks for this report on my favorite food.! And I must admit fond gastro memories of Hamburger Hamlet, on Sunset in the 1960s.
Yeah, I’m a baby boomer. HH was the BEST.
We went to one while visiting Washington DC 30 years ago and it was wonderful !

Braizer burger were great
I think a&w hamburgers are the best along with their milkshakes. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Jack in the Box tacos taste like they're made with cereal. It's not meat.

Big Buford is a solid burger

Red Robin's is to high overpriced bad burger
Went there a week ago.....never going back
Yes! I totally agree! And those bottomless fries are to die for! Definitely should have been higher on the list!
They sure aren't any bigger here. Who needs anything bigger than 1/2 pound? Or even 1/3 lb? You are obese, aren't you?
In Northwest Indiana, you only go to Steak and Shake if it is after midnight, you want a shake, or you are a theater kid and you all just finished your first show haha
It helps that there are so many options at $4
I’d say leaving, “Habit,” off the list is very strange. It was voted best burger by “Consumer Reports” in 2008. I can say that living in Santa Barbara, I like them better than,”In & Out’s,” great burger.
I think its because Habit has too few locations and many folks have no familiarity with it....
The Habit's pretty good too, I like their sourdough bbq chicken sandwiches.
I used the cheese pump on EVERYTHING, baked beans fries, you name it, and I was in my 20s
Am not a big fast food fan and I doubt that I have eaten a McDonald's hamburger since, but it was so fresh, juicy and delicious that I still remember it.
nice try mcdonalds
Eating didn't get much better than that when you were 25 years old.
they were cooked straight from the freezer
You ranked Burger King and Wendy's fairly high yet both have fallen in quality farther than any food in my lifetime. I would love to once again get a real flame grilled Whopper or Hot n Juicy double from Wendy's from my youth. Other than the name all has changed.
Yeah I agree about Burger King, used to be pretty good. Sad to hear Wendy's has fallen, I have fond memories of stopping in on my long drives to college for a triple cheeseburger and a Frosty.
Wendy's jr bacon with fries, chili, frosty... Best ever in the 80s. Wendy's flat out sux now.

Agreed. Was about to comment similarly. B. King used to be fantastic. Wendy's hasn't fallen quite as far as BK tho. Fortunately Carl's Jr. Super Star with cheese still has quality flavor. Most the time anyway.
Wendy’s has indeed fallen, I agree. I thought they were the best in the 1980s, but now I rarely go there at all.
Do you know what brums is ?
You can get those sauces in Texas grocery stores in bulk
They have those sauces in containers that are like the size of a average mustard or ketchup container in a texas grocery store (like H-E-B) or any Walmart and they will be whataburger branded.
My favorite Carl's Jr's burger, is the double western bacon cheeseburger, it's SO GOOD!!!
