    I only had my car for month (2023 convertible 2LT Z51) and you are spot on about the amount of attention this car garners. This is my retirement car (I retire in December at 56) but I also considered the Porsche 911 turbo S. However, being an accountant, I'm always value conscious. The Porsche was literally twice as much as my C8. So the decision was made and I'm enjoying the hell out of this car.

      That's how I suggest everyone take it, I go to car shows wether its old classic cars, to Mopar or tuner lovers events and even though i may be there to show support or celebrate their vehicles I find a lot of people pulling me in to talk about ownership, my experiences, people interactions and reliability. I realize i own a car that transcends different car cultures and even though you run into a few car culture purist many love, admire and accept the corvette C8 into their community. Now I'm sure the owner plays a big part as well, but many people love this car from all age brackets and walks of life.

      How do you like the C8 thus far? For me it's a different driving experience than the C7 I had, they are both unique in their own way but the C8 to me makes drivers get over confident in their own abilities. Its a fun car to drive but because there's a lot of technology going on to make the driving experience more controllable it loses a lot of the shock factor you got with the C7. But again two amazing cars!!!

    Had mine 2 weeks. Feels like I'm famous. People taking pictures, cars following for long distances, kids in backseats of other cars going crazy. I've had mine just under a year and a half and it hasn't stopped. I had to adapt real quickly to people driving up fast on the car and following it for long stints because there has been a huge increase in car jackings the past 2 years and it often seems as if you a target the way people approach the vehicle. No matter what he had or how short of a time he had it, he would always let me and so many others experience his cars. And i will always thank him and remember him for that. He had two cars I put more miles on them than he did. He was so generous with his cars, there were certain cars he owned that many people thought they were mine because I was behind the wheels of them so much. Over the course of my lifetime ( I am now 75), I have owned 2 Maseratis ( Bora & Merak) , 3 Ferraris (328, 355, 360), 5 Vipers ( Gen 1-5), 8 Corvettes and a Shelby 427 Cobra ( not the Mustang Cobra....the real Cobra). I just sold my C8 Corvette.....just got tired of it. The reason for selling it is that when it first came out, the WOW factor was there. After 4 years of ownership, the C8 is now a dime a dozen,...,...,they are everywhere. No one turns their heard anymore to look at it....and neither do I. Remember it is still a just a Chevy.

      You are the owner I dream to be, but with that said I can also tell from your vehicle collection history you don't frequent the areas where the car truly shines. All of your car turn heads in the right environment and when you travel through middle class suburbs, the working class/blue collier neighborhoods in the inner city the car still draws crowds and turns heads after 5 years of being out. But I can truly understand why you got tired of it and I can also understand why you wouldn't frequent the areas where the car is truly appreciated..... Remember it's a Chevy and the working mans supercar.

    Agreed with people not recognizing the C8. I see a C8 in my area like once a month or 0 times. So I imagine almost everyone else here hasn’t seen one either. Someone asked me, “is that a Ferrari?” And I’m like, “I wish.” Not many people seem to know how Corvettes look like now. Park it outside a coffee shop and see the amount of people who can’t stop staring at it or talk about it.

      It's hard for many people to accept their everyday life isn't the next persons situation. I see them more frequently now and there are about 9 I know of in a 3 mile square radius of my house. At the same time there's about 35 C7s but 6 ferraris, 4 huracans and 12 audi R8s when it comes to exotics/supercars. So in my area its still in that rareness where it draws a lot of attention and many people still don't know what it is. Now when I attend local car shows and car meets I may see 10-20 in attendance at the big gatherings so i know there are quite a few around, but you see more R8s and McLaren's than C8s. So its still rare. I think why many people don't believe they are rare cars anymore is at Corvette driven functions they have a nice presence now, where at one point they were scarce and often not in attendance. Plus in places like southern CA, FL, Texas, GA, AZ and PA you see them a lot. Plus it has become the most utilized car for aftermarket companies trying to showcase a service at events and functions so they are in the public eye more.

    Oh hell no not knocking on the window. That's how people are with these Cybertrucks recently. I will say, at a car event vs at a gas station or going out to eat are two different things. Some people get uncomfortably close or approach in a sketchy way just to give a compliment or ask a question and I don't like that. Got a 3rd party GPS tracker when I had my hellcat and transferred it right to my C8 because I realize I have something a lot of people want and are envious of... I recommend you do the same hoss, get an IGLA or Revelco anti-theft system since you put in the video you're in urban Chicago. Only takes that one person willing to risk his/her life (or yours) or life in prison just to take a chance and taking it for themselves. Lot of people will say carry at all times but that's up to you if you want to go that route, lot safer to just track it down right away then hope you draw first and don't get caught lacking in my opinion.

      Man you are right on with that and I have more than one tracking device in it..... but I'm also reaching that point do I really want to go through all that to get it back. In most cases the police don't want to support the recovery efforts, you have to call in a domestic dispute to get them to come out and then switch it to a confrentation when they show up about your stolen vehicle its a mess..... I'm almost at the point I'd rather wait for the insurance payoff and go get something else.

    • @ICNVDE
      @ICNVDE  5 місяців тому

      I love the NSX but it is truly the lessor of the two cars. The only thing the NSX wins at in my opinion is the rare factor, you don't see them often. The interior is more luxury design than performance centered so you may give that to the Acura when it comes to actual seats depending on your preference. The infotainment system was dated in 2017 when they released it, the cup holder was an after thought, the lack of a convertible option, the front hood providing no storage, the physical price of the car for mediocre performance tops the cake. I wanted the NSX and if they didn't build the C8 it would've been the car I purchased just to avoid the higher ownership cost of owning the R8. When it comes to the C8 the corvette is the obvious winner, but the NSX is a great option for someone looking to stand out and drive something you don't see every day

    • @ICNVDE
      @ICNVDE  2 роки тому +1

      Great Question and for the most part you do get more, but overall performance in my opinion is where the C7 Z06 wins. In person the C8 looks amazing, the interior is levels above the C7, the customization options are better, the switch to HTC gives the convertible more flexibility to partake in track functions, better weight distribution, accommodates taller drivers better, better handling and compensation for the less experienced driver, better infotainment tech......the list goes on and on about the C8 over the C7 but once you get passed low end power and torque (0-95mph) the C7 Z06 dominance kicks in which is an advantage of having superchargers, more top end power and torque. I say within the next 13-18 mos we will see more performance enhancements for the base C8 which will make it more respectable and probably a better bargain than chasing the C8 Z06 with equivalent of slightly better performance than a C7 Z06 which in my eyes will make it the perfect vehicle. So is it HYPE? I think that depends on what you enjoy most about the cars.... they both have a high fun factor but Performance goes to the C7 Z06 while I feel everyday life benefits go to the C8.

    5:15 #6 isn't that bad, I genuinely tell people at car meets things like "I was going to get one but they had this issue" or "I was going to get one but they only come in automatic". And I hear those same things too, and I never take offense to it or find it annoying. If someone gives me the vibe they don't want to talk or if they're being standoffish I don't continue bothering them. Not everyone can take hints though, people get starstruck and forget basic social skills and sometimes even respect... knocking on the window SMH...

      Welcome to club!!! Many of us wasn't ready and found it uncomfortable, but with each passing day it gets easier to embrace. All i can say to you is it's not going to die down any time soon so find a way to enjoy the moment and not get upset by it. Being a corvette owner is already a unique experience among other corvette owners and entry level supercar owners.....owning a C8 only takes it to another level. You will meet some nice people and get invited to a lot of events you never knew about or payed attention to before. I know you may find it hard to believe but you deserve the attention and recognition it brings because we all can use some kind words or even a thumbs up in our life some days..... Enjoy it!

    • @ICNVDE
      @ICNVDE  Рік тому

      @@jamesw9892 it gets better, especially in areas where people see them more frequently. At the same time I feel people have to get out of there comfort zone, I was invited to a car show in a small town, I showed up and I was the only C8 there for about an hour another guy showed up with a 1LT Torch Red Coupe. I usually don't hang around my car because I talk about corvettes and cars all the time I literally try to blend in and sit away from the car and just let people enjoy the car. The owner of the red C8 seemed to get agitated as people kept asking him question about my car and the crowd lingered towards my car complimenting the color. Eventually after 30 mins he pointed me out sitting 3 cars away hanging out with the custom motorcycle owners, met a real nice guy 78 yrs old and still riding. But the red C8 owner started saying "it's his car ask him". Then 15 mins later he just left. What i realized was the car is still rare in certain areas and a lot of people haven't seen it first hand. In this smaller town everything was a customized, rebuilt old-school or Mopar hemi charger or Challenger..... nothing newer than a 2018 was really there and many people thought it was a true exotic supercar like a Ferrari or Lambo. I've had my car for just under 18 mos and I still get new/1st time response experiences from random people on the street.

    What’s the gas mileage like?

    • @ICNVDE
      @ICNVDE  Рік тому +1

      That varies depending on your driving style. If i don't get on the car and just cruise 80% of the time I can average 16-18 miles in the city 24-32 miles on the highway. The best gas mileage I've gotten on a full tank is 489 miles on the highway and the worst has been 231 miles combined

      I was a lot like you, I never expected the attention this car draws when I purchased it. I thought it would die off after 3 maybe 4 mos. My neighbor who sees the car almost daily still comes over and just looks at it and want's to conversate about it. I gave him the keys and told him to take it for a spin hoping it would ease some of that..... he was gone 5 mins and now his wife says that's was an experience he shares with coworkers and friends on how amazing the car is. That was this past Sept and he talks about it like it was yesterday. I find myself just parking the car and quickly walking away from it most times just so I can stay on time with my plans.....the longer I'm around the car the more people linger and want to talk about everything under the sun. I don't mind it so much now; after 14.5 mos of ownership I'm mentally prepared for it now and I've met a lot of nice people over the past year as a result. I get invited to a lot of charity events, car shows, cruising events and its actually fun being around other people who get similar attention from their vehicle.... I often just sit back and let them be show and I just enjoy the conversations. All I can say my friend is find away to embrace it because its not going anywhere for awhile and you may just brighten someone else's day or be the motivation they need to get through one.
