I remember one day we asked our music teacher to turn the local rock station on and this song came on. The poor woman literally cringed at the tune of the guitar. That basically solidified I was a child of the 90's. Still love Mrs. P though...she was awesome.
These guys were easily one of the best bands of the 90's...really underrated if anything. Every album was a masterpiece...every song amazing. 'Throwing Copper' was their best album, however, 'Secret Samadhi' was almost as good, and yet it didn't get the same respect. My favorite Live song. I was a weekend DJ at WCCC in Hartford, CT when this came out and I remember we had an early copy of the song. It was on a little DAT cassette and they hooked a DAT player to the soundboard so we could play it. I remember the first time hearing it was when I played it live on the air. The riff pulled me in instantly. Bad-Ass riff indeed.
Saw them 20 years ago in Orlando. Missed the reunion tours, it's a shame what happened between the original members. Looks like no chance of ever seeing them together again.
2024: In 1997 I went to the mall and bought this. It was my first CD. I was so happy and excited when I played it on my CD player. I've been listening to this for 27 years.
I remember being drunk in my car, and there were a couple song's that were played in a row. This was one of them, and I was so captivated. We'll done LIVE!!!!
When the masses were sent back to work with 1,000,000 cases in the US. I imagined this song among many because of the dystopian vibe especially in this video.
Such a resounding mood this song set for us in a sparkling, bursting age of music to rival them all... This one is remembered only by few in this big world. And that's a shame. For it is undeniable and gloriously niche in it's originality. And it's edge, a shockwave, felt like a blast to the chest. While it's bridge remains sanctimoniously potent; like the purest perplexity, injected into the serenity of the goldest autumn morning. May this song never be forgotten throughout history.
Live had several good songs that went over to this side after their first few cutesy singles. My favorite thing about Live doing this was that they pulled it off without that annoying 90s LOOK AT US LOOK AT US BEING UNIQUE AND NOT DESPERATE FOR ATTEMTION AT ALL attitude.
Ed kind of reminds me of Maynard James Keenan. They both have those kind of one of a kind voice that can honestly sing anything. And their lyrics are so cryptic sometimes. The musics different but the versatility and range are right there!
Jay Deleon except that Keenan's work has remained consistently good right the way through, whereas with Ed, Live went rapidly downhill after Secret Samadhi. The writing and music lost all of its balls and punch, favouring blandness and banality. Imagine how it could have been?
Have loved this song since it came out, and I still have no idea what the lyrics mean. Need to look into that. But the music itself: difficult to tell on this video because the sound quality isn't the best, but if you get a good CD or HD-quality copy and slap on some headphones, close your eyes and just listen, it's amazing. Each part builds on the previous one with a different instrument or something added to increase the intensity all the way till the last guitar phrasing he plays twice at the end. Love that.
U dont need complicated chords to make a good song...all u need is heart and rythem...this song made me oumped when I was 14 n now at 30 I feel the same way
Till a hundreds seconds ago I believe that my favorites bands where Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, A perfect circle anda many others before but Sometimes I don't have the mood to listen those bands, but I always get excited when I listen Live, Is something that I feel Attached bond, the lyrics the melody always gets me every time, my favorite band is Live, didn't realize that in twenty years but I always listen again an again, they're music is just great, is exactly what I like
When I first listened to this... I asked my friend "hey man, was that tool?" lol For some reason I believed it was tool.. I love both bands, but every time I listen to this song lol I think of tool lol
Mental Jewelry - Pure uninterrupted spiritual musical talent from 4 young kids in York, Pennsylvania. Unpolished, but full of soul, it was the start of something big for the 90's. Throwing Copper - A gift from the Heavens (Higher spiritual realms) brought through the 4 human vessels of +Live+. This album was a direct gift for humanity with 'Lightning Crashes' being the pinnacle telling the story of re-incarnation as the cycle continues with no end. This album as a whole was a masterpiece brought from the higher spiritual realms. One of the best albums ever produced... EVER. Secret Samadhi - A dark album, with a dark theme. This album was a rebuttal to 'Throwing Copper' and is not really of the 'Light' as the previous 2 albums were. I believe there were some external forces of a 'dark' nature that influenced this album. Nevertheless it's still a GREAT album and actually the most COMPLETE +Live+ album to date from start to finish. Every song just fits perfectly in a complete package. The production on this album was one of their best, with everything from Drums to guitar so crisp and clean. The Distance To Here - Out of the darkness of 'Secret Samadhi' into the pure LIGHT of 'Distance to Here'. This album is of pure light, with every song having some spiritual meaning returning back to Source, Creator, God, Light, Love. One of the best songs on this album, "We walk in the dream" is actually one of the most underrated but sends the pure message that there is something more to this Human existence we live in (hinting to the spiritual realms). This album completes +Live's+ 90's dominance with such depth and meaning. After the 90's the band +Live+ did lose their way in their songwriting/producing abilities but their time was definitely the 90's. It was their time, and people listened.
I bought Throwing Copper on the strength of a TV ad many years ago now, I'm glad my introduction to Live was such a pleasurable experience, then Secret Samadhi came along with this little gem. I just loved this song. Ed's magnificent soaring vocal just unleashed something within me, it was pure and cathartic. Great song and a great under-rated band..

To me this song goes deeper when it comes to meaning, sex is like everything else in life if you have too much of it or take it to the extreme it'll destroy you quicker. One of the reasons why balance is so important and why it's always wise to do things in moderation because if you do too much of everything it'll end up like the lard. But that's just my opinion. One of the reasons why I missed this kind of music, especially the songs that has a bold message.

I saw Live last Sunday. I went insane for them. This video is amazing. This song rocks too hard!!! OMG!!!
Wow that's a crazy ass mouthful
heard
that...was beautiful!
60BloodyChamp60 well said
2019 being a bass player. That bass tone is sick!! I love this song. I always will love this band!
Yes! It's fucking awesome
Saw them in concert August of 97 . Amazing song!
Me too, absolute highlight
I still have most of their early albums. Can't believe I appreciated such awesome music at 13...they are definitely underrated.
If This Song Came Out today. Western Pennsylvania Would Catch Fire. A Fire from New Castle, Pa Yinz Listen!
Imagine how it could have been?
respect 4u
@@andrewlockett5125 eh....I'd argue that the very latest tool album wasn't nearly as powerful or remembered as 10000 days and prior
Wow Ive known this song since the 90s but never saw the video. Pretty epic!
Love that.
Damn if Ed didn't always seems like he was just a few steps away from the edge of batshit crazy. One of the bands that changed my life
Live made the awkwardness of my teen years just a Little bit more palatable ; p
90’s had lot of awkward songs, electric eels and weird covers to CD albums.
U dont need complicated chords to make a good song...all u need is heart and rythem...this song made me oumped when I was 14 n now at 30 I feel the same way
Till a hundreds seconds ago I believe that my favorites bands where Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, A perfect circle anda many others before but Sometimes I don't have the mood to listen those bands, but I always get excited when I listen Live, Is something that I feel Attached bond, the lyrics the melody always gets me every time, my favorite band is Live, didn't realize that in twenty years but I always listen again an again, they're music is just great, is exactly what I like
Best track by Live hands down. The iconic guitar in the beginning and end are both absolutely kick ass.
Edward k one of great Rock stars of All Time.
Too bad he turned out to be a big douche to his band mates
+obglobgablob apparently he asked for a lead singer bonus to play a festival in Holland
I'm not sure about all time but one hell of a good vocalists and intense
+Eddie Miller Yep.
arcticmonkey3 That maybe but he returned to Live in 2016.
One of the best songs ever made, one of the greatest voices to grace this earth. Still gives me goosebumps all these years later.
When I first listened to this... I asked my friend "hey man, was that tool?" lol
For some reason I believed it was tool.. I love both bands, but every time I listen to this song lol I think of tool lol
It’s 2024 and I just saw them with STP. This song hit so hard live.
All my fam testing thier speakers can feel this...This single on CD living with mates. the best..
3:30 the strenght he puts in his voice before he starts screaming, real hype
I bought Throwing Copper on the strength of a TV ad many years ago now, I'm glad my introduction to Live was such a pleasurable experience, then Secret Samadhi came along with this little gem. I just loved this song. Ed's magnificent soaring vocal just unleashed something within me, it was pure and cathartic. Great song and a great under-rated band..
I felt the exact same way, I worshipped them, definitely a soul connection!!
This song, and especially the gritty bass guitar tone driving it, is a masterpiece.
So glad I rediscovered these guys. Man the 90s were badass.
It was an evening I shared with the sun
to find out where we belong
from the earliest days
we were dancing in the shadows
more wine
'cause I got to have it
more skin
'cause I got to eat it
inside the outside
by the river
used to be so calm
used to be so sane
I rushed the lady's room
took the water from the toilet
washed her feet and blessed her name
more peace
is such a dirty habit
slow down, we're too afraid
Let me ride
Let me ride
Burn my eyes
Let me ride
Why do people feel the need to type lyrics on songs? Um...we know...you didnt write them...
@@danielrearick3041 why do you Feel the need to ask this ??? I'm glad To find them in the comments section when they are'nt displayed in the song's description.
@@patatepouell925 listen to the song and learn them
@@danielrearick3041 you'd still find something to cry about, so, suck It !!
TY for posting the lyrics. Your work is appreciated.
I forgot about this song and it came on Lithium Channel 34 on XM over the weekend. Speakers as loud as they could go. Such a phenomenal song.
If it’s like a full week then ya,few days ok.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I saw this music video when was out for the first time in 1997 MTV and I still watch it.
This was one of the most powerful songs of the 90’s & still punches your face.
Saw them in ‘97 at the Warfield in SF … great show.
These guys were such a awesome band
Mandy Perrin they're still recording and touring and still play a kickass live show! Saw them 3 times last year...
The drummer finally gets his drums back!! Lol
That muddy guitar tone is ridiculous, in a good way.
+Ima WreckU Sometimes Ridiculous is just what the Dr Orders
+Ima WreckU Been looking for a word to describe that sound. Yes; muddy guitar!
+Ima WreckU it's the 90s dude... the fucking 90s
I didn't think they could possibly follow Throwing Copper. This album is good. This song kicks ass.
check out the foot pivot move by Ed at 4:25.
My god! That snare and cymbal smashes!!
absolute masterpiece! few songs have this kind of honesty in the songwriting and the overall vibe! gooosebumps since 1997!!
Secret Samadi.... one of the best albums!
Live es una de esas bandas que no ocupan el lugar que merecen, y no tienen el reconocimiento que les corresponde. Enorme disco.
Its 2021 and still blasting this been listening from their earliest days from York, PA.
This is GORGEOUS. Karaoke that uplifts my Spirit!
The best riff in 1997. I always played it loud everyday. One of my fav Live song of all time. remember hearing it a lot at Q107 and watching the video a lot at Muchmusic
