Awake on my airplane Awake on my airplane My skin is bare
My skin is theirsI feel like newborn
And I feel like a newbornAwake on my airplane
Awake on my airplaneI feel so real
Could you take my picture

Could everyone agree that no one should be left alone
Could everyone agree that they should not be left alone, yeah
And I feel like a newborn And I feel like a newborn
Kicking and screaming
Could you take my picture
Cause I won't remember

& I agree 100%
I still have the CD from when it was released. It feels such a rare, dreamy piece of music.
@@wedgiepantilles4620 Me too! My CD is transparent due to the heavy usage😆
All I did in the 90s was fantasize about the future. Now that I'm in the future, all I want is to go back to the 90s

No flying cars, no stellar travel or lunar vacations, and racism more overt than back then, maybe that's good or bad as now we are starting to face our demons, but ya. I agree with you, just back to when we had the birth of the internet but no fucking smart phones, that would be great.
What happened the 90s were awesome then sept 11 and everything has not been the same since bring back quality music
I feel your pain!
Yeah why is that. Feel the same
I'm working on that time machine, guys. I will get us all back home.

Yep, a regular part of my playlist.
Yep
Yo
Yep. , this song still overwhelms my emotions,
Well, yeah, I still be listening to this song in 2030 and beyond.
This song hit radios a month before my best friend committed suicide. We were 18; he died 10/7/1999. I was always afraid I'd forget his face, his voice, his smell. I haven't.
RIP Jymm... ❤ You'll never be 'left alone' and we have the pictures to remember. You live on in the hearts of many.
❤
❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing this. I can see that you were a good friend to him.

😢
I discovered this song in 2006… life threatening cancer, a divorce, 2 scared kids and Richard Patrick in my head phones. I’m still here & I still love this song
Amen, me too sister
I went through 2 life changes at the same time as well. I became a new and better person. Sometimes it takes seeing things as thing are for oneself to do something for their life. Heart valve replacememt surgery and that led to a divorce. It was tough.
@JBJR Songs can mean whatever they want to the listener.
🤗🤗🤗
Good vibes and positive health for you Pam
My dad told me the story of what this song meant to him, my dad had never met his biological father until 2006, I was born in 1999 right after this song came out. When my parents drove home with me for the first time, this song was playing on the radio and my dad had never heard it yet. While this song was playing he was thinking about how his father would be feeling about being a grandpa and then the lyrics “Hey dad, what do you think about your son now?” played. He said he got goosebumps and started to cry, a mixture of joy and sadness of not knowing how his dad would feel about him, would he be proud? Happy? Supportive of his own boy having his first child? He said he’ll never forget that moment until he’s dead and gone. That story always struck home to me and made me think that maybe some things, even music, are meant for certain moments in time, like that moment right there. Thank you Filter for making a beautiful and soul warming song for us all to forever remember.
Underrated comment. Tears in my eyes reading this. That's one of the most beautiful things I've read in awhile--especially, "[that] story always struck home to me and made me think that maybe some things, even music, are meant for certain moments in time, like that moment right there." Well said, and beyond relatable!
as i started to get to hey dad in your comment the lyric came up in the song. good story of yours
Great story!! Thankyou for sharing!! This is the kind of feel good stories we need in this sad day a age!! God Bless you and yours..⚘🙏🙌

And Elisha Cutbert is a drop dead gorgeous woman. It is a shame how Hollywood cut her off.
I was a senior in high school when this came out and it blew me away. Listening to it late into the night. When you're a teenager you can only wonder about the world and what it will be like. You see endless possibilities. My imagination would run wild. I loved this song. Hearing it again makes me miss those times dearly. Your teenage years are a trip. Things are different now. Growing up has its pros and it has its cons. Cherish your youth. Be kind to people.
Amen 🙏 I'm 55 and life goes by so fast 😊 truly cherish every moment 😇
I agree! In my 50's and I would give anything to go back to being 18!
=]
This hit hard. You've got a good 9 years on me, but I was doing the same thing at about the same time.
We had no idea those would be the best days of our lives.
I can so relate to what you said! I dreamed of becoming a radio DJ when I was in my late teens, and I would set up at night, like you, and dream about all the stations I could jock at. I would listen to my songs and just let my imagination run wild about how famous and successful I would become!!! At night in the 🏜 desert, I could pick up a station in Oklahoma City, and, years later, I ended up working there!! Yes, I imagined it and it happened!!! I'm retired now, 52 years old, and what a trip it's been!!!! But, how I wanna go back and be 16 again, and dream those dreams, and have all the wonderful things and beautiful ladies ahead of me instead of behind me....
Time goes way,way too fast...
This song takes me back to those dream filled desert nights, when anything was possible and getting older happened to everyone else.....
I woke up from being in a medically induced coma a couple weeks ago and this song was in my head non stop. I hadn’t heard it in years but as soon as I had the strength I came to UA-cam to find it and now here I am💙
Glad to hear you're alright. I lost my brother last December when he slipped into a coma. I had this song in my head all day at work and I just had to hear it. Stay safe.
It's a beautiful song. It's what you would call a rock dream. 😘

I’m 27 years old and I remember my big brother and I jamming to this song in the car when I was 11. He passed away to suicide that year in December 28th of 2006 and he was only 18, 3 days before his 19th birthday.
This is to you big bro. 💜
We're really sorry for your loss. Stay strong.

A song that helped me get through my mid-teens when it came out. God I miss the 90's. I would die right now if I could go back to 1998 & keep the wisdom and lessons I've learned since then. Take another crack at life starting from that warm and soft blanket that was the late 90's..
“Warm and soft blanket” is the perfect way to describe the 90s. Tender, innocent, sincere.
I agree with you but we have to somehow impart our wisdom with the teens of today.
@@esoterium22they don't listen. 😢
But would it trigger a butterfly effect?

There’s a special magic to this song and I just can’t quite place it. Always puts me in a great mood.
Same here. It's a song that I've always loved, but never wore it out. So every now and then I'll listen to it again to get that feeling. I don't still love many of the songs I did 20 years ago, so this one is special.
Me too😀
Magic is the word I use to describe it too, it’s just beautiful.
just heard an interview with the lead singer on the grant random show on sirius and he said he was a mess when he was drinking he has been sober for like 16 years or so and life is awsome now
To me it was instant. In my interpretation, without wanting to know all the words.
It's about the circle of life. Reincarnation. Take a picture cause i won't remember.
You are born and then realize it's an illusion and you're not alone.
If god was a person, he would be alone.
This song always hits some kind of emotional nerve with me. I really crave the 80’s and 90’s again. Life was so much simpler. Reading everyone’s comments, especially the more recent ones is really touching. There are so many people struggling right now and music brings people together.
🍻🍺 I couldn't agree with you more. 🍺Cheers from Canada🍺

One of the best albums produced. It is amazing from cover to cover.
There's something about this song, whenever I hear it I'm instantly transported back to my Tech Drawing class in highschool back in 2000, it was the only subject our teacher would let us listen to the radio in class, and this was a popular song at the time, precious memories lol
Nostalgia on hyperdrive.. Man, what I'd give to have the 90s back, I wouldn't have taken a single second for granted..I had the opportunity to have experienced it and will forever cherish it!❤
The past is another country that we cannot visit.
Most of us listed to this in the early 2000s as it was released in 1999.

90s is a brilliance time where all the culture was on a perfect place - movies, music, festivals - have their best.

I love this song, it reminds me of mtv, videos, & my sister & I going to see bands at clubs in 1990's. On Nov 24,2021 my sister died from diabetic/ covid-19 complications. It's weird. When this song came out I was mostly indifferent. But over the years it slowly burrowed into my psyche. So much music that I enjoyed from this era didn't hold up but this is now one of my favorite songs and I feel like it's only becoming more meaningful with time.
This was and still is one of the most beautiful songs. A reminder to stop and enjoy every single moment bc it’ll easily be gone and forgotten. I listened to this song many times through high school. I can still feel the fun, young excitement, fear, uncertainty, loneliness, and so many other emotions from this song, specifically as soon as he sings “could you take my picture bc I won’t remember…” with that trippy auto tune, it’s like a time warp into other time periods. Brings me right back. Such a beautiful classic now

@@briancarpenter6413 It was inspired by the composer having a drunk episode. I think the crafting of the lyrics though has a wider area for interpretation. Even Richard Patrick admitted that each time he sings some of the lyrics they have a different meaning to him.

Damn u couldn't even wait a week man! Literally 2 days into the new yr and you're on here asking this boring, excessively uncreative as hell question. Just like the millions of others doing the same exact thing...
You clearly need attention.. why not just ask something like:
"I am seriously in need of attention.. please like my comment"
"Since I can't think for myself, I'm following the herd, fighting for the most likes with the other 30 million uncreative ppl who all ask this same, stupid as hell comment that's on LITERALLY EVERY GOD DAMN MOTHER FUCKING VIDEO!! Please like"
"Even though 475 ppl have written this EXACT SAME comment, I will too! Like my comment 1st"
"If I only had a brain."
"Hey, hey look at me! Im going to continue leaving these wonderful comments that everyone loves so much, every single month and yr.. maybe even every day"
"Help! In need of serious attention"...
Anything else would be great really! Goes for everyone else reading this too

I saw these guys in Iraq while deployed back in 2010. Richard wasn't really feeling the crowd. I wasn't really supposed to be at the show, but I'd been a fan for nearly a decade. I remember before this song was played, he gave a little insight on what it meant to him.
At the end of the show, I stayed for the autograph. I was pushing it by then, but I really wanted to meet the band. I recall laughing at how giddy everyone was. Then it was my turn. I looked Richard right in the eyes and I froze for what seemed like forever. He asked me if I was alright. I was speechless. Completely awestruck. He came around and gave me a big hug and signed a photo for me.
I'll never forget that day. I've since lost the photo, but I'll always have the memory.

Crying is a beautiful sign that you’re human. 🫂
@@trustchristnotculturethank you for your kind words
Heard it at the dentist and have been reliving the nineties ❤
THANK GOD!! After years of tracking i finally found this song. :) I first heard this 4 years ago on a radio station called 93 Rock in Florida. :) I had this stuck in my head all that day :) the next day i forgot the name of it :P. here i am 4 years later lol :P
funny i went to HS in fla. when this came out and i had to wake up super early to get ready, at 4am MTV still played videos. this was one of them. never forgot.
I'm glad this music is transcending generations because you are obviously a youngster (not a bad thing, I just grew up with this band among others). The 90's were really the last bastion of good rock music. Rockstars were still rockstars.
Congrats on finding out the song name!
Now can anyone tell me where I can find the version on VH1 where they played pop-up video and used this song?
It was really cool, as they used mugshots (pictures) from famous people throughout the whole video! Including Bill Gates!
You should of taken a picture.
LOL
I'm an old goat at 56, but I lived through some of the best music in every format, starting with lp's till now, I always tell my young friends, to always keep an opened mind when it comes to music, just because you get older doesn't mean you have to change to what you listen to, stay true to your love of music, and you'll always be young
Mark Smith I am 58 and I completely agree. love this song
Im 57 and I can say I have played this song at least 500 times and counting.
Mark Smith...Brother, YES! I am 54 and I agree that our generation's music was a spectrum of variety. We were blessed to have been able to listen to and see in concert so many great and talented musicians. It is also sad to have witnessed the tragic deaths of so much talent. Here's to our generation, The MTV Generation! The REAL 1st MTV that is! ~LuLu~
Mark Smith Amen, brother.
Mark smith . .. i absolutely agree with you . . good music doesn't fade . . .
A Masterpiece! Simply Amazing! 🪐🌠🌌❤
Песня молодости, mtv, первая любовь!
Fantastic song. Remember hearing this on “The Girl Next Door”
Uh huh
And Litty Nicky! :)
Literally just watched the movie 🙌🏼
Danielle and matthew
Crazy/Beautiful as well 😉👍🎥
As an 80's child and metal head I normally wouldn't like a song like this...but the musicianship / execution / structure of this song is just captivating...and while the lyrics / vocals dont seem award-winning , they are truly mesmerizing...this song really stands out for me - I have to admit this band is extremely and extraordinarily talented !!
It's a pretty odd departure from their industrial rock and grunge roots.
80s child, nice. Hope you enjoyed your diaper sessions in the 80s 😂 Gen Xr who was an adult in the 80s, you Millennials missed out!
These lyrics are outstanding and I'm a 70s child
Lyrics are the best.
The instrumentals flow perfectly. And it has that nostalgic touch for me too. From one metal fan to another lol
I was born in ‘92. My childhood was horrific, but I still love the 90s. The music, the aesthetic, the connectedness of us all. It was sincere, creative, and innocent. Since the Internet and social media have become mainstream, we’ve all lost that connection. Talk to someone today. Genuinely, honestly, and deeply.
Beautiful song. One of the rare moments I’m glad to be part of humanity.
my mom was obsessed with taking pictures of our family as i grew up. it got annoying when i was a teen and twenty something. then she got cancer and died age 53 in 2010. i have her massive collection of photo albums and im thankful. so many amazing pictures.
That's awesome. Just make her proud . Live your life to the fullest . Go change the world.
Make a difference in someone lives ✌️life is too short
Ah 😢 I’m 53 and having slight memory issues and so sad I didn’t take more pictures of my kids growing up. I treasure the ones we do have. Love to you and all!
TEARS
bands like these makes 90's music great and unforgettable...
It’s almost the end of December 2023 and I could listen to this song on repeat forever ✨🩵
Song like this reminds me that I need to stop being anxious about how my which friends are, worried about relationships, or fear what people think of me. I should just go out there and live my young life while I can.
Exactly. It’s cool how this song evokes that feeling in a lot of people. It’s almost hypnotic, especially if it’s nostalgic to you.
One of the best songs from that era. This is what actual talent from actual musicians sounds like. Nothing complicated or super technical, but it's just a solid song.
I ended here after I googled one of my favorite songs and videos, STP Wicked Garden and just read something about these guys. Evidently the lead singer was a studio musician for NIN and started his own band from there and was tired of 600 a week. I'm curious to here more. I remember this song being on the radio a long long long time ago. Everything but the vocals makes me think of PP for some reason...probably the percussion and sound of the early 2000's.
Yes, you are right.
This song reminds me of my late mother. I used to hear this song on the way to visit her every weekend at the cancer treatment center when I was 21. She died in 2001 at the tender age of 50. I absolutely love this song and miss my momma!
❤️
@xMaNrEbOrN78 Sorry for your loss as well cuzin. That's how life goes. We just gotta make the best of it.
When a mother is a good mother, there is nothing better in The World. I think of my Mom every single day and she's been gone 15 years come Jan. 8, 2021. Really sad that you lost your Mom when you were so young. And dreadful that she passed far too soon.. At least you have all those happy memories. And you can count yourself lucky lucky lucky if you had a Mom who was loving and understanding.
@@MiTmite9 Sorry for your loss too; thanks for the kind words.
So sorry for your loss. You reminded me to treasure my Mom.
I'm 61 and still listening 😊😊

a Master Piece!!
Covid-19 quarantine making me revisit old favorites ♥️
#stayhome and rock the 90's!!! Love to all
Devin for sure!!! Stay healthy!!
Absolutely! Quarantine has me reminiscing the past when life wass so much better and great music like thiss
Jennifer Colon oh for sure!!!! ♥️
Adam Pentz I totally hear you! When this all started and I had a mini meltdown I started with Hate Me by Blue October, then went with Drive by Incubus and then moved on to here. Ok so I ended back to Garbage (I’m only happy when it rains, Stupid girls, etc...), Road Rage (Catatonia) and such but still had a happy break in the middle 🤣
The 90’s will never be replicated. This takes me back to a simpler time, growing up and hanging out with my friends. Many of them have scattered to the wind. Time flies. Treasure the present and cherish the memories! Peace and progress to you all!!
Scattered to the wind haha. That is pretty much what happened to a lot of them.
Agreed, everything seems so quite
I remember seeing Filter play this at Foxboro Stadium (before it was Gillette) at River Rave 2000 going back 23 years ago and seeing the crowd rock out to this was electrifying. Hearing him yell “Heyyyy daaad what do you think about your son nowwww!?” What a time. Great song still one of my favorites! 🤘🏻
I completely forgot about this song until it popped up on the radio...now, i've been playing it on repeat and still not tired of it
Ngl song makes me sad reminds me on how short life
Richard Patrick telling the story behind this stream-of-conscious song: He recalled: "There was no thought behind it. It was off-the-cuff. It was emotional. I was so lonely. When you drink, you feel cut off from everybody. The isolation is wild. You isolate yourself, but then you realize you're left all alone. I'd get in trouble. I got arrested, but I was taken to a psych ward."
"That was the second time I had an issue on airplane," he continued. "I was like, 'I bet my dad's going to be proud of this!' There's that song, 'Dad, I'm In Jail.' 'Take A Picture' was my homage to that. 'Hey dad, what do you think about your son now?' is a double entendre. Do you think my platinum records are cool? Do you think I'm a success? Do you know how much pain I'm in? Do you have any idea what's going on with me? I think everybody has that thing with their parents. They want to figure out their moms and dads."
Thank you for understanding
Thank you for the meaning of this song. It's exactly what my son is going through. He's a heroin addict and everytime he goes to jail he expresses the same feelings. His dad calls him a junkie and that he'll never be anything.
The "Hey dad, what do you think about your son now?" lyric i thought was about how he grew up jealous and being in his older brothers shadow, his brother being Hollywood actor Robert Patrick.
Dannie 27 him and his brother are VERY close.
@@JOHNizSiK were they close back then when he wrote the song? Im more talking about him and his fathers relationship compared to the relationship his father had/has with his movie/television star brother.
My God this song was a hit in 1999...❤❤
It's odd, and comforting, to find yourself coming back to certain songs decades later that resonate more than what's released today. The band playing on top of the floating house will forever be an image in my mind.
*released
@@Ultamami Good catch. Thanks.
Song makes me sad about life and my future truly reminds my on his short life is
Yesssss...!!!!
You just can't beat 1990's and early-mid 2000's Alternative music. Great song.
Truth Teller You can if you lived in the '80s Far better music!
xxbnuts80 every era has it's fair share of shit, but you have to measure the good with the bad. S, A & W were awful, but you can counterpart that with factory
Truth Teller Totally agree.
Stiffkittens 80's definitely had its fair share of good stuff. It certainly beat the shit they pass off as "music" today. 70's was god awful except for the Hendrix type music. Disco was pure crap. 50's and 60's speak for themselves. The golden era.
Truth Teller disagree about 70s. Doobie Bros., Steely Dan, Bad Company, Boston, a lot of classic rock, but overall, what you say is valid.
Richard Patrick looks like a man i dated for 7years. I loved him so much and i probably always will. Such fond memories. We did everything together, more or less, joined at the hip. Even though we went our separate ways, a part of me will always love him.❤
Man, I miss the 90s…
I remember hearing this on the radio in 1999, it's been my favorite song ever since.. Thanks Filter !!❤
Brings me back to the 90s.....God I miss those days
I'd be honored if some classic 90s fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of Mmm Mmm Mmm by the CRASH TEST DUMMIES, Bittersweet Symphony by THE VERVE, and Long December by the COUNTING CROWS on my YT channel in tribute to 3 great 90s standards. Live acoustic with no digital editing. Thanks and peace out.
You and me both
Such great songs ...bring back some great memories
@@gabrielthivierge7719 brings back the truth for my son. Hey Dad what'ya think of
