Dermatology is one field I've been considering and I'm so glad to see physicians sharing their stories and thier day to day lives. I'm trying to stay open to all specialties but this definitely helps solidify my interest in dermatology. Awesome work-life balance, numerous procedures, and great patient outcomes, sign me up.

You'd put in so much time, effort, and money when you enter a healthcare career, it's fair to consider salary.With that said though, it's definitely not a major influence in choosing a specialty for me.

I’m a medical assistant for a dermatology office, the dr i work with sees about 60 pt a day and he does about 20 mohs surgeries that’s not including additional sites. Becoming a dermatologist is really a stress free field from my view and its awesome. I love it working with skin, especially mohs surgery. I’ll be going my pregrade soon and start my path to become a dermatologist. Great video!!

@@thenightdances21 You have to take a medical assistant course at a school in your area, rn because of covid many schools are offering classes online. Also, there still might be an in person clinical training though. After the class you might have to do an 140 hour externship where you shadow/train as an MA in a doctors office or hospital. Then you have to take an exam & pass to become a certified MA. there are other routes, I’ve heard of people who aren’t certified and just get trained by a healthcare facility but that’s rare as most places want certified MAs.

I really don’t see a lot of videos like this. I love the representation you’re bringing forward to your platform. I’m currently in college and would love to work in the field of dermatology one day. Sometimes I feel a bit discouraged, I don’t see a lot of black, or minority women in this field on many platforms, but seeing videos like this is really helpful and motivating!!

I’m 29 years old and I’m finally having the courage of being true to myself and doing what I want to do with my life instead of what I think others want me to do. I feel like I’m too late to start my journey to becoming a dermatologist but I don’t care. If I die trying doing what I love then it will be worth it.
i think i finally found what career path i want to take. i’m a freshman in highschool and i love learning science and about the human body. i’ve always wanted to work in the medical field but i never knew which exact specialty i wanted to work towards. but now i think dermatology is fit for me. my academics have always been good and hopefully i can keep up these good habits throughout the 12 years of preparing. wish me luck❤️
Such an informative video! My 6 year old asked to see what dermatologists do and this was perfect. I love how she talks about her deliberate choice to go into a field that allows her a family life. For people deciding on careers that’s a great bit of info. What a lovely woman and she seems like such a good doctor, like it would be very calming to have her treat you.

Great video! So nice to see a no nonense youtube video that is made for those who are serious about pursuing a career in health care. I do not plan on being a dermatologist, but I am almost done with my Medical Assisting program and plan to work in dermatological medical assisting. Hopefully I will be applying to nursing school thereafter and would like to continue on working in dermatology. It is clearly such a rewarding field to work in. I'm just happy I'll soon be part of the team. :)

Questions for the dermatologists! So a year ago, my nose had a huge pimple!! My mom took me to get a cortisone shot or however you spell it. I think she put too much cortisone because it’s been a year and there’s skin colored bubbles or bumps on my nose that haven’t even went away! It looks so ugly on meee... It’s not a pimple, can’t pop it, it’s literally like a skin bump ! Just on my nose
