2:11 This song is really just amazing. I have no words. Sega’s music team in the 80’s were able to come up with phenomenal tracks that really leave an impact, and for that I commend them. Galaxy Force is a prime example of S.S.T (Sega Sound Team)’s sheer musicianship and composition genius, with the complex slap bass, soothing leads, and just great drums. This is is up there in my favourite tracks from the game, my most favoured being Take Back. I’m also surprised at how well this song transferred to the home console versions. The Genesis version has an amazing sound font which makes it sound pretty damn good. The Master System version has amazing versions of this, both PSG and FM, though my preference is the FM version. Overall, one of S.S.T’s best and a very memorable song that showcases great composition.
@@gersiu2 Yeh, i already know that version rules, with the intro guitar chords (with some great volume swells, absolutely raunchy tone for said guitars, excellent bass slapping and some pounding drums.
I'm curious what kind of software they used in order to capture live performance but also dissect and compress it into samples as they did. Then again they might be crazy and hand track it all out via computer and a lot of hours crunching data.
I remember walking by this game, the full-hydrauling-tilty-lunar lander version in a boardwalk video arcade as an 8 year old and just being utterly transfixed by the graphics and music.I didn't have the full $1 to play it, but this very song was burned into my mind permanently.
This game is really great on the 3DS. The 3D depth between the flyer, objects and hazards are like candy to the eyes. Sad that most people have problems with the 3DS's 3D function. I always use it in all my games. Anyways, I played this game on the SEGA 3D classics collection. I'd say it's the definitive way of playing the game but hey, that's _my_ opinion.
this is not the genesis version of the song. however the mistake is likely due to the use of the YM2151 sound chip by Yamaha, not at all unlike the YM2612 found in the genesis. notably, the phenomenal percussion and slap bass instrumentation that gives this version its flair is from the SegaPCM, a custom sound chip used by sega on AM2 games like outrun.
@ben owen Keep in mind the sound chip in the arcade board was partially a sampler, more like the SNES sound chip, and so it would be very hard to replicate (as an example) the slap bass in this song for the Genesis's FM synth. Additionally, the FM synth that was also used in the arcade board was more advanced than the Genesis's already.
@@camulodunon Alright but the entirety of the Galaxy Force OST uses the sampler. I know there are Genesis tracks with awesome slap bass (Air Buster comes to mind) but it isn't going to sound as good as this.

Dat Bass line!!!!
GFII makes me want to buy a bass!
I wish I had this game just because of this song...
FM synthesis😍
Jorge Silva with PCM
I surprised by how well jazz fusion works on the sega genesis.

This is not a Genesis
NGL Sega and Yamaha are a perfect duo when it comes to fm music, or just any music in general
2:13 Used Cowbell.... Its super effective!
I once played Galaxy Force.
私もかつて、ギャラクシーフォースをプレイした事がありました。
I liked the 3DS version.
Is it the NINTENDO3DS version
nintendo3DSバージョンですか。

Chill and jazzy
Played this for the first time today on the PS4 genesis compilation. Not a fan of the game but the soundtrack is incredible.
The arcade version is so much better than the genesis version, and is barely ported unfortunately.
The sega genesis classics collection has a ton of imput lag, play a rom elsewhere or the arcade version, you wont regret it :)
Just got the 3ds reboot of this. *Jizzinmypants*
やっぱりFM音源はいいなぁ・・
ドラムだけは、PCM音源なのかも知れない。
This game kicks ass
It's weird, I still love the genesis music as well!..... Right turn! Left turn!
JAZZ FUSION OMG!!!!!!
Dang, I forgot how good this song was
Brilliant, reminds me of old Focus
Thank dog for Sega
+Sony Kroket Reminds me of Spyro Gyra.
No idea what Spyro Gyra means. Sorry
Google is your friend.
dude. nail on the head! Alternating Currents-era for sure
I meant Focus as the 70s bands, not some other videogame.
ギャラクシーフォースのBGMはベースが主役やなぁ
More cowbell!!
Is GF2 the first game this track appears in?
Actually composed by Koichi Namiki
Aye I thought it was composed by Hiro?
Dude, get MAME and you can listen to it. That, or use one Audacity to record music off... anywhere.
I hope the Genesis version sounds this good!
Six years later: Hey, not AS good, but an almighty effort anyway. It's still amidst the best tracks in the console's catalog.

Is that Top Gun I hear in this?
