    Can you imagine all those years in law school, practicing law, getting elected/appointed as a judge, just to learn from the defendant that you're doing it all wrong? Oh the wasted years

    Mr. Daly appeared to be holding his head thru out the proceedings. Not sure if the craziness was hurting his brain, or he was trying to keep his brain from exploding. The prosecutor may need surgical assistance as her eyes may be permanently stuck in a rolled back position. How the judge kept a straight face is amazing and he deserves commendation for it.

    Well, he's no Judge Middleton, that's for sure. But I did like the way he dropped down to the defendant's level and explained exactly what was required of the defendant if he decided to represent himself. He explained in very clear language that a 10 year old could understand exactly what was required of the defendant if he decided to try to defend himself, including all of the correct procedures on submission of evidence and other court approved procedures. I think this is the first time that I have seen a Judge spell it out so simply and completely to a defendant before basically saying, "Do you really think you are qualified to represent yourself?"

    When he says the "judge is working from the bench", he is really trying to say, the judge cannot give legal advice from the bench. He just got all his phrases mixed up. Understandable as he might be new to this. And in his defense, he probably doesn't have his Sovcit for Dummies guidebook with him.

    Just seeing this now Mike but as a Veteran I can say we do appreciate the shout out on Veterans Day so thank you sir.
    With that said I ask you to remind folks, when MEMORIAL DAY comes along, that "Happy Memorial Day" is inappropriate.
    Memorial Day is, for us, a solemn and sober day of reflection in honor of our Brothers and Sisters in Arms who have made the ultimate sacrifice for Our Country so "Happy Memorial Day" is never appropriate.

      He pleads guilty to the least charge his public defender can negotiate for him, then files a bunch of bogus appeals based on nonsense that are immediately dismissed.
      He does 18 months in prison then gets released.
      Buys a car from someone on Craigslist with 11month's worth of registration on the tags.
      Gets busted AGAIN for driving without a license.

You have zero contact with the outside world, visits are via video and you rarely leave the wing you are housed in. Not saying it doesn't happen but it would be hard. Two things: I'm baffled by the repeated strategy of SovCits refusing to plead, and when the judge inevitably enters a not guilty plea, claiming the judge acts improperly. What is achieved by this? Also he envisions facing a jury of his peers , in other words, twelve SovCit fruit bats. Unlikely.

    • @shannonswanson4219
      @shannonswanson4219 3 роки тому +3

      They like to say it’s practicing law from the bench. There is case law that allows the judge to enter a plea of not guilty if no plea is entered. But of course, all courts would fall apart if all you had to do was not enter a plea and “poof” the case disappears. It’s just more nonsense to clog up the proceedings. It’s hard to tell who are true believers and who just want to make everything so convoluted to make the court settle. I’ve never seen a Sov Cit argument work on its merit but I wonder if just the hassle in traffic court might sometimes cause a positive settlement just to be finished.

      The "sovereign citizen" movement is a loosely organized collection of groups and individuals who have adopted a right-wing anarchist ideology originating in the theories of a group called the Posse Comitatus in the 1970s. Its adherents believe that virtually all existing government in the United States is illegitimate and they seek to "restore" an idealized, minimalist government that never actually existed.
