"Married With Children" was a satire of the clean, wholesome sitcoms of the 50s and 60s such as Ozzie and Harriet, Leave It to Beaver, My Three Sons, The Patty Duke Show, etc., and so on...
@@kylestubbs8867 Not the pc culture of everything works out by just doing your best and wverything's great. Sometimes you just get Negan and everything waddle away at you until allyou got left is lashing out with snark and a quick witt.
It's hard to say between Mama and Al Bundy but the the thing about Mama was that was my grandma. When I watched that show I swore they put hidden video cameras in my grandparents' house and spied on them to get the idea for that character LOL
You're right about the TV shows of that time. Most of the network shows were about loving, caring, moral families so a big part of the inspiration for 'Married With Children' was to be the opposite of 'The Cosby Show' and it helped get the new Fox network some big ratings and led to other hit shows.
Oh yeah definitely. Al Bundy was hilarious ASF! He was supposed to be a spoof of the typical masculine, American man. Someone to wouldn't want to be but now without PC everything is, he's practically a freaking hero.
You are correct.. at the time all the family shows showed the happy family with their day-to-day problems. That's why they wanted to go the opposite with Married with Children and show a dysfunctional family and be over the top with everything they did.
Yeah Married With Children was savage comedy. But Sanford and Son, All in the Family and The Jeffersons were all from the 70s and all were savage and some of the funniest sitcoms ever made.
This is definitely a show worth buying the box set. It was great when it was on, and it took to the last few seasons to really taper off. And Al rarely won, but when he did, he really deserved it. Perhaps the best victory was his "So you think I'm a loser" speech. It makes every day a victory for him, and it's still relevant to this day! He was a bit unfortunate, but he was, and still is, a role model for all men.
I wish I could've been there to explain the context of these scenes. I've seen every episode dozens of times and these clips still crack me up. I think knowing what was happening helps some.
@Lostmymind1 believe you're talking about the clip where he says he'd like to burry a shovel between her eyes. They had a relative die & the first Bundy to have a child would inherit a bunch of money so they were having a lot of sex which was basically killing Al. Before that scene the kids wheeled him in & they had to pick him up out of the seat & commented how light he was. They also put him in clothes bigger than he is to make him look like he lost a ton of weight. He finds out in that scene that Peggy has been taking birth control to not get pregnant, and he's about to fake a positive pregnancy test to mess with her.
Big Al was the most loving and kind American there ever was. Absolutely nobody was immune to his loving personality, not even his drinking buddies. The loved everybody equally, and never played favorites.
And thats why I really liked it. (Looks ate in the eye of the beholder) the fact is both him and Peg are in great shape for their age in the show and I of course find Peg super sexy I would believe that women to a degree would find Al sexy ( physically)..... but as you know.... their married with children
The show opened in the 80s. There were shows like this though. Go back a few years and you'll find All In The Family. Ed based the character of Al Bundy on his uncle who was a district court judge.
Mama's family has that spicy main character but Married with Children has so many characters. Each one is hilarious I. Their own way. Its not just Al Bundy, it's the whole family thats fucked up. I mean, they do WILD SHIT.
Thelma 'Mama' Crowley Harper and Al Bundy would not go off on each other. More likely they'd team up destroy people's inner souls and high five and laugh.
His hair was white cause him and peggy been having ALOT of relations. Al's uncle had died and whatever relative who had a kid first and named it after him got a big inheritance.
I love that they designed this show to be the opposite of the Cosby's. A family that you'd hate. However people saw so many things that they had in common with them that the show became a huge success. One of those concepts that failed successfully.
Im truly disappointed in myself, for not thinking of that........I think Al and Mama meeting would have been one of the greatest episodes EVER! Peace and Love!✌🏻
11:34 Things weren't really darker back then, especially not on TV. The show was satirical and the first of its kind to do anything like this, but it was funny and people enjoyed something different than the usual fake portrayal of family life, like Andy Griffin, The Brady Bunch, The Cosby Show, etc. People in normal suburban life, rarely acted in a manner he portrayed, you'd get arrested if you pulled out a bat to threatened someone. And before cell, text, and mobile Internet were mainstream, word of mouth reputation among those in a neighborhood was much more important, if you treated neighborhood children or your own kids the way he did, you'd be a total outcast, people wouldn't want to be associated with you.
Feminists and the "body positivity" movement would go CRAZY if this show came out today. The only show more controversial than this is all in the family and many tried to "cancel" that show lol
Al Bundy is an American legend.
And the uk loves him aswell
AG!
Polk High #33 Legend
Al Bundy IS America
He was the Chosen One!
Al Bundy is savage, but speaks his mind about everything!
Too many Karen's today wouldn't tolerate it.
Librarian: Make a promise keep a promise
Young Al: yea yea bake a pie eat a pie
“Why go out for milk when you have a cow at home” 😂😂😭
Imagine saying that today lol
They fought with each other but mess with one Bundy you gotta fight the whole bunch!! 😂😂 And i loved that Al was overprotective over Kelly, so sweet 🥰
Al closing the door on people... this never gets old.
I also love when he not even opens the door to help kellys visitors out of the house 😅🤣
'You didn't have shows like this'
All in the family begs to differ.
"Married With Children" was a satire of the clean, wholesome sitcoms of the 50s and 60s such as Ozzie and Harriet, Leave It to Beaver, My Three Sons, The Patty Duke Show, etc., and so on...
Al Bundy is famous in the UK for being everyones Dad. Love it
The working title for this show in pre-production before they settled on the final name was "Not the Cosbys".
Strikes a bit differently now… but what did it mean back then?

Peg (coming home): Hi, Al, i'm home. Did you miss me?
Al: With every bullet so far.
😂 love being back to this channel
All shows back then occasiomally had insults as comedy.. but married with children made them into running gags in every show.
It's hard to say between Mama and Al Bundy but the the thing about Mama was that was my grandma. When I watched that show I swore they put hidden video cameras in my grandparents' house and spied on them to get the idea for that character LOL
Love the kid at the library, so funny🤣
That's Al. As a kid.
Married with children was an updated version of the 70s All In The Family Al Bundy was Archie bunker
The reason the show was successful it was more relatable and ahead of its time there was nothing like it in tv
11 seasons of pure gold
Used to be my favorite show. Got em all on dvd

True, the original title of the show was to be "Not the Cosbys"
Actually, I think Al Bundy and Thelma Harper would have beers and commiserate over how bad their families are.
Al Bundy and Fred Sanford were the most savage on TV
I think that Archie bunker, Sanford and son,& the Jefferson .... made the way for married with children
This is the big one, I'm coming Elisabeth!

0:50 1987 to 1997, Mario and Nicole.
Wonderful shirt Nicole!

.........why did Al Bundy have Guy Fieri's hair in the one clip?
@Lostmymind1 believe you're talking about the clip where he says he'd like to burry a shovel between her eyes. Al Bundy didn't have any filters and that made the show a hit when it was on the air.
It was 1987-1997, the best show ever!!!
Golden Girls had some savages too.
Thanks For The Laughs & The Memories Of Yesteryear 🤣🥳😂😄 👋🏼-✌🏼
One of my all time favorite shows great reaction guy's
I forgot about Mama's Family but I watched both shows a ton back then.
7:28 One of the best scenes ever! His laugh is hilarious!
One of the best shows ever made. Love it.
More true to life than the cosby show
Before it was eventually titled "Married with Children" it was in development under the name "Not the Cosbys"
Big Al was the most loving and kind American there ever was. Absolutely nobody was immune to his loving personality, not even his drinking buddies. The loved everybody equally, and never played favorites.
He hated his wife, but deep down, really loved her. He's juts bored of her.
And thats why I really liked it. (Looks ate in the eye of the beholder) the fact is both him and Peg are in great shape for their age in the show and I of course find Peg super sexy I would believe that women to a degree would find Al sexy ( physically)..... but as you know.... their married with children
1:18 That woman's scream in the audience! LOL
In a way married with children was like the 90s version of All in the Family
The show opened in the 80s. There were shows like this though. Go back a few years and you'll find All In The Family. Ed based the character of Al Bundy on his uncle who was a district court judge.
The Show started in 1987 and ended in 1997
3:32 Al's Thanos moment
At the end the dogs always run upstairs and bring back his slippers.
*NO-MAAM*
The 70s and 80s had some savage classics
His hair was white cause him and peggy been having ALOT of relations. Al's uncle had died and whatever relative who had a kid first and named it after him got a big inheritance.
Good job guys. Trying to understand white humor is brutal man, for real killer man!
I'm glad I grew up with MWC. Good times.
People back then knows to take a joke. And now people these day are so sensitive.
The show was called ‘Married… With Children’.
Crackheads: “🤯😳😄Lookit me, BITCHES! ICANWRITE ON TUBE?!”
🖕🏻🌡
Late 80's to The Late 90's. 💯
The show was on from April 5th 1987 to June 9th 1997
Al Bundy is The Goat!
Gone are the days that we could just laugh at anything without being cancelled
Al Bundy was my favorite character but love Kelly Bundy even more
I love that they designed this show to be the opposite of the Cosby's. A family that you'd hate. However people saw so many things that they had in common with them that the show became a huge success. One of those concepts that failed successfully.
Honestly I think if y'all watched it now you all would enjoy the show very much
Al Bundy for president!"Hooters and beer's for every one"!!!
best show ever but would have been cancelled 10000% in todays cancel culture
Cancel culture sucks 100%
Mama V.S. Al would be like Godzilla V.S. King Kong
Married With Children first aired in 1987 and ran for almost 20 years.
The kid at the library IRS supposed to be Al Bundy as a kid.
Al Bundy is a role model lol
His uncle in real life was like that. Thats how he got this character
1987 to 1997 an awesome decade of tv comedy😊
Try listening to Redd Foxx in the show Sanford and Son when Ester comes over to visit. Or even the Jeffersons show. Both were great and savage then.
Aunt Esther is still one of my favorite characters on TV. Her and Fred were epic.
I love this show it was funny because it's reality
First time watching you guys. Great reaction. Also, like the Ohio shirt. Thanks from Dayton.
Epic video...Archie bunker (all in the family) vs Al Bundy.
Im truly disappointed in myself, for not thinking of that........I think Al and Mama meeting would have been one of the greatest episodes EVER! Peace and Love!✌🏻

The show ran from 1988 to 1997
1987
Thelma Harper vs. Al Bundy...Let's get!!!
The title Married With Kids. It's "Married With Children." 🤣
I'm 44 and I absolutely loved al bundy .he was awesome.
Fox was trying to expand viewership (new network). They had a lot of shows dancing on the edge of censorship including this one and In Living Color.
They were indeed darker,, but also in your face,, wene we could all laugh at our selves together 🤔🤔😎👍🤘
Married With Children is late 80’s to late 90’s. 1987 to 1997.
Al bundy vs Betty white's character from hot in cleavland they were both masters of the burn.
The people weren't butt-hurt BY. EVERY. LITTLE. THING.
You need to find All in the Family
“Married With Children” was the anti “Cosby Show”…
Mama & Al Bundy, don't hold a candle, to Sophia Petrillo, from The Golden Girls.
Al Bundy scored 4 touchdowns for Poke High
Al gave folks the business
Al Bundy is a global icon and a national treasure.
Feminists and the "body positivity" movement would go CRAZY if this show came out today. The only show more controversial than this is all in the family and many tried to "cancel" that show lol
Al Bundy, hands down.
Best TV show out of America since… nah…. Best TV show out of America full stop
Al Bundy the GOAT 😁
The role of Peg was originally written for Roseanne Barr, and Sam Kinnison was written for Al Bundy. That would have been wierd.
I miss Sam
It's not Married With kids. It's Married With "Children."
I found out that the series is being revived.. but as an animated series
There's better Bundy clips but this one I wish it would have shown him throwing the boyfriends out the door
Archie Bunker was savage. Try some ALL IN THE FAMILY.
