Remember, the important thing is that Head Writer on The Golden Girls Christopher Lloyd (not to be confused with the actor of the same name) was a Co-Creator and Producer of "Modern Family" that is why the writing on both shows were Emmy Award winning.

They cut the scenes off too soon in some of them. In the ones where Dorothy yells "Condoms, Condoms"....The clerk says to her "Calm down lady, did you just get out of prison?" 🤣🤣

What was great about Bea Arthur sometimes she had scenes where all she needed to do was shoot a look and her eyes & face said it all without saying a word! 🤣

Dorothy in real life was a truck driver during WWII in the USMC.

The Queen was a huge fan of The Golden Girls. I would’ve loved to have seen her watching the show and laughing hysterically, it would’ve been so out of character.

The show is set in Miami,

Estelle Getty (Sophia) Dorothy’s mom, in real life was one year younger than Bea Arthur (Dorothy) and Betty White (Rose)! When it premiered, Betty White and Bea Arthur were 63, Estelle Getty was 62, and Rue McClanahan (Blanch) was 52.

Bea who played Dorothy had previously starred in a successful series as title character Maude, and Rue who plays Blanche was her neighbor in that series. Betty White who plays Rose had also previously starred in the series Mama's Family with Rue. The initial plan was for Betty to play Blanche and Rue to play Rose, but they decided to switch them because Betty had previously played a man hungry Sue Ann Nivens in the Mary Tyler Moore show and Rue's character on Maude tended to be a little ditzy like Rose so they switched up their types for this series and it is hard to imagine it any other way. Estelle who played Dorothy's mother Sophia wasn't really planned as a lead but she worked so well in the part, she became the 4th lead. All of these talented ladies won Emmys for their portrayals during the series run.

We only get a show like that once. That talent, charisma, and experience can't be duplicated

I watched this show when it first aired. Most kids probably wouldn't have chosen to, but growing up poor, the family has one TV, no cable, and your parents pick the shows. I still loved it. My girlfriend has GG posters, shirts, DVD box set, calendars, you name it. It's one of the few shows that we both like.

    Sophia's Sicily stories.

While all the characters we're well known with a long history in show business, Betty White (Rose) was considered a national treasure. She starred or co-starred in some of most loved television series in the US. Her last series was called Hot in Cleveland and she was 93 when the series finally ended.

Bea Arthur and Betty White both served in WW2.

    R.I.P Betty White

I like the one where they get robbed so Rose gets a gun and almost shoots Blanche. Sophia comes out and says how she's lived 80 years and survived illnesses, etc. and "one night I'll belch and Stable Mabel here'll blow my head off!"

Dorothy is my fave character she really is the nucleus of the group. Top 5 American comedy of all time- no remake of this show will ever even come close to the genius of the original.

  • @hankpiston162

The golden girls still one of the funniest shows ever. You should do ''Sophia Petrillo: The OG Comeback Queen'' next.

  • @vodriscoll

Yes, the show takes place in Miami.

I always love the Golden Girls
