- About two months ago, I made the decision to come out to my friends.
I wanted to film their reactions so I could remember these special moments and share my experience of coming out on UA-cam.
I would not be who I am today without the brave people who courageously shared their stories and gave me a glimpse of what it looks like to accept yourself.
This video is dedicated to the many courageous LGBTQIA+ people who’ve come before me.

I just came out to my grandparents this weekend and they r happy for me and were so supportive! My mom and dad knew for so long and r super supportive but I was not sure about my grandparents. I’m so happy they were

I’m so mad that I didn’t come out to my closest friends in person or even on ft so I could film it but all of them were through messages (and one was through an Instagram question box but we won’t talk about that) and I will forever regret that because ik I want to film telling my family but ik some of them will most likely not support me I wish I had filmed my friends because they were so kind and supportive and I wish I could have seen their full reaction and not just the messages they sent but I’m so grateful they still love me and I have the most supportive friends in the world

My whole life I thought I was straight until ,get this, a TikTok of Pierre boo and Nicky Champa came onto my FYP… my confusion about my sexuality was no more
After I watched the TikTok I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and throughout the last year and a bit I’ve accepted myself as being gay. I’m often asked if I’m gay by friends and classmates, and my answers was no, every time until yesterday at my best friends birthday party. The people there made me feel welcome, cuz they were so diverse compared to my classmates and some of my friends who are very Homophobic. At this birthday party, a mutual friend casually asked me what my sexuality was, and whether I was gay by saying “I will support you no matter what, but I was wondering whether you are gay.” And I waited for my bsf to leave the room, I pulled him into the bathroom and came out to him,I thanked him and later came out to my bsf in the pantry lol…it went like:
Me: Bestie, I need to talk to you about something serious
Bsf: umm, okay are you good, you look stressed
*I was leaning over the kitchen sink breathing heavily* btw
Me: I’m Gay
Bsf: *she burst into tears *I’m so proud of you, I’m here for you and Hank you for coming out to me
We had a good hug and I felt a relief like no other, like I could do anything In the world
*homophobic friend walks in and asks we’re crying*
Bestie lies instantly saying they’re happy tears cuz her cousin got into their dream school.
We must’ve hugged and given thumbs up’s at least 200 times lol
Also, she painted my nails😊
I was forced to take it off and my dad called me disgusting but that’s besides the point…
When I’m around my parent, who I know I can’t come out to for the mean while at least I can calm my anxiety by knowing I have to supportive best friends.
So , to all the ally’s that might see this and to all my closeted people, I love and respect every single one of you ❤
I hope that one day, South Africa 🇿🇦 will be more accepting and respectful of the LGBTQIA+ community. I hope that I can still be seen and respected as much post coming out to people as before. Stay strong people ❤

I wasn't going to comment but I can't not. You know what I think really stinks? It's that in 2021, young people still feel the need to have to hide who they are from friends and parents. I wish that this issue becomes such a non issue that that people don't need to "come out" to anyone and just be able to love who they love. JMHO

The real question is how did they not know
I kind of think that you already knew that they knew, but you just wanted to make it official. I like the video and all, but not to have a single drawback from your coming out. You kind of felt everyone out, and once you got the green light, you went for it, which is a good thing. For the most part, the ending won't be no way near the ending you had. Caution or make a disclaimer the case like your does not always end happy.
I totally value your comment! It’s true... these are all positive reactions. I did come out to friends who didn’t take it as well... but I didn’t want to video tape that bc that would just be uncomfortable. I do address how difficult coming out is in my other two videos! Thanks for the perspective!
