I was dragged out of the closet in 1986, at the edge of 16, when my mom snooped through my car and found a note I wrote to a boy I liked.
I was confronted, like on 'Intervention' and had glasses thrown at me, screamed at and was told by my Mom that when she is dead and gone, for me not to stand at the foot of her grave crying, because I'm the one that put her there.
This went on for years.
I moved from Ohio to Texas to get away in '91 to return to Ohio in '99.
From the moment I was dragged out, I rebelled in all the right ways. I marched every march, joined Act-Up, and even lobbied members on Congress.
Times have changed so much since then.
I'm so happy for you. You seem to be an amazing young man.

I personally don’t see it as, “coming out”, I’d rather see it as letting people come in. The reason being is, coming out gives them power over your life on the matter. I’d rather see it as, I care about you enough, to let you into my life (being gay) and still containing the power of owning up to MY life. 💜

_i feel you man. My coming out wasn't easy, and it was unintended. Coming from a religious backround was very tuff and so uncomfortable. I told my grandma at 13 and it didn't go well. Then the entire family heard and then it really didn't go well. I was so confused with myself cause I liked guys but with people calling me a sinner and me thinking I'm a abomination to everyone really sent me into an identity crisis. But now that I'm 16 and have grown so much over what I went through within my life I have came to a point to where I don't care anymore. I stopped living for others and now I'm living for me. I stopped thinking of what they would say if I told. I stopped thinking about if they will still love me or not. I just stopped and accepted myself fully to everyone. Now I never try to hide and whoever feels some type of way it's their problem. I love myself now for who I am and I wouldn't change myself for anything. I know now that I'm beautiful just the way i am and hopefully the haters can change their hearts. And just like my girl Alessia Cara said, "there's no scars to my beautiful."_

This is soooo crazy . Your story is so similar to mine !!! My auntie is the one that told my mom , she was like a second mom to me . &' its crazy cause I never told her she just put two &' two together from my Instagram &' brought it up to my mom , &' after that my life changed completely this was like in 2015 , my aunts son was gay so shes the one who helped my mother understand. After that me &' my aunts relationship grew . Sadly she just passed december of 2016 😞. Everyday I think about how I used to say I wouldnt tell my mom until I turn 18 , my aunt is the reason I can live my life the way I want &' I thank her for that . I love you Auntie Angie 👼🏾
