      Yammie just had some opinions a year or so ago because he just didn't know what the Hell he was talking about. Desert sled is an off road bike? LOL. Go try a real trail bike to see how those work. He has. Now it's cruisers. Go ride some and figure out why people would ride one? He seems to be doing that.

    I think this bike and the new rebel 1100 that we are about to experience next year is going to change the cruiser demographic, effectively attracting younger riders to the scene.

    • @Fearless154
      @Fearless154 3 роки тому +7

      I doubt it will bring a younger demographic because cruisers are mostly a lifestyle choice and if you love these types of bikes you'll automatically be interested in Harley's and Indian culture but 40 years olds in Europe will love the rebel 1100.

    • @stephenwilder2320

      I def agree with you. The rebel 1100 gives a more modern look to the cruisers. Which I rode a cruiser but I had to turn it into a bobber bc IMO most cruisers look like outdated grandpa bikes. When I look at cruisers the only ones I really like are ones that have newer looking designs such as the rebel or Vulcan 650 s.

      @@Fearless154 I can see how it won't waft in a new generation, though I do think it'll reduce the fall of interest for gen z. As a 21 year old I've found myself shifting lifestyles often when it comes to bikes. Went from sport bike to Grom to adv bike to dirt bike. Adventures take different forms. I'm looking forward to the rebel 1100 as my next bike. It makes cruising more athletic and youthful compared to the standard 6-700lb 50-60hp cruiser that has been the market staple

    I've owned a bunch of bikes, in various configurations, but my Scout is my first "keeper." It still needs a lot of tweaking to make it mine, but what bike doesn't? The bike's bones are just about perfect, though. Absolutely wonderful.

    First thing i did to my scout was fit stiffer front springs and upgraded the rear shocks. Made a huge handling difference I fitted an S&S air intake, a power commander 2 and that dramatically improved the bottom end torque. I now have 95,000k trouble free riding and it's still going strong.

    I feel I've finally been vindicated...
    I started on a '95 CBR F3, and bought a '99 'Busa in February of '00. I stopped riding after my first kid was born, and started back up a few years ago. My current baby is an '18 Scout. I've upgraded the rear suspension, swapped the seat, and swapped in a performance 2 to 1 exhaust. I also added a quick-detach windscreen for longer rides with the face shield up. My neighbor fabricated me a rider's seat back, and a saddle bag rack for me. On long trips, I carry an extra fuel can in my left bag.
    I am 6'1", 355lbs (370 w/ gear). My 5'0", 10y/o, daughter rides with me on longer cruises, and she's currently adding another 110lbs (with gear), so when I'm bagging, and carrying full fuel, we're over 1,100lbs. I feel like she performs VERY well at that weight.
    Personally, I see the Scout as the Cruiser for Sport riders. 🤷‍♂️

    FINALLY.....!!! The Indian Scout is the best mid-range cruiser out there. I own one. I did a Stage 1 upgrade, re-flashed the ECM and changed the engine management system. It is now about 118 hp, 90 ft/lbs torque. It is explosively fast. It is 150 mph capable, although not with me on it.

    As a Scout owner for nearly 5 years may I interject a few improvements to what appears to be a '16 model. 1) the Kenda tires are only good for city riding as they completely suck for cruising BUT, the now stock, Pirelli Night Dragons really wake up the handling. 2) progressive fork springs, OEM on newer models, make a tremendous improvement as well. The only negative I've encountered is in the Owners Group about breaking clutch cables by those who DON'T do basic maintenance. I've ridden over 26K miles without any fraying or issue. Good informative video and the more you ride the Scout, the more you'll love it (once you swap out the tires and fork springs).

    Hey folks. Everyone is labeling the Scout as a good starter bike (particularly the Scout 60). But, these are the best things for us who have been at this since the early 70s. I started on two stroke Yamaha twins (68 180cc then a new 74 350 RD 350cc) and had a lot of fun. I then moved to a Yamaha 750 Special triple, 4-stroke Hondas (450 scrambler, 500 Twin, 81 GL1100, 88 GL1500) and I'm now old and tired and want to have the fun of the early 2-stroke twins (without the blue smoke and fouled spark plugs.) The Scout is perfect! Low to the ground (I'm 5'5" on a good day.) It has the rush of power if you keep it in the happy gears, and handles like a 2-stroke twin (compared to a 1500 Goldwing.) This is some fun S&!t!!!!!.

      I'm not a cruiser guy, so I'm open to that argument because I don't really know... but I'd like to see the actual case for that. What makes the VRod or Fat Bob better? How do their engines and suspension compare?

    • @Coletrainbaby
      @Coletrainbaby 3 роки тому +5

      For the price of a vrod or fat bob, you can do a lot to the indian. If you need to add another 8-10k to make a comparable arguement, there is no arguement to be made.

    • @KSMotoCafe
      @KSMotoCafe 3 роки тому +4

      @@blessedbethecurse Well to start - both VRod and Fat Bobs are considered "performance cruisers" and older or traditional Harley riders who only stick to Heritage classics hate em for their looks and modern fit-ups; but for me they both look sexy as hell.
      VRod - liq cooled engine 1131-1247CC (comparable to scout); wide as hell rear wheels; 111Nm @ 7250rpm (runs better at higher Rpm); 3.5s to 60mph!!; 11.4s to 1/4 mile; same taco fold riding position; better angle of rear suspension to absorb the shock; BUT discontinued because it wasn't popular because it was launched ahead of its time of need for Harley. The prices for the VRod on used market is beginning to rise due to its recent recognition for performance.
      Fat Bob - 1745cc (much bigger engine but air cooled); max torque 145 Nm @ 3250; 4.2s to 60mph (slower at acceleration than vrod or scout); 13.1s to 1/4 mile; 6 speed; much better handling on corners; and still being sold by Harley.
      Scout: 1133cc liq cooled; max torque 97.7Nm @ 6000rpm; 3.7s to 60mph; 12.2s to 1/4 mile; will continue to be made
      so overall by spec standards its Vrod, Scout, then fat bob but for any bikes, its not about just the specs. Look and feel plays a big role and its very subjective and I am more fan of Vrod and Fatbob. Both Harley's are more expensive than the Scout when purchased new but in used market they seem similarly priced.

      @@Coletrainbaby true if you bought em new but in the used market they are similarly priced (at least where I am). There is definitely a branding sticker price but that argument can be made for any products like cars (american/japanese cars $-$$!vs european cars $$$-$$$$)

    Very well done video. The footage, and choice of roads was very good, as was your commentary. The only point of contention I have is how much you would have to spend on it, right after purchase. First of all the headlight has to go. It is horrible. Next (and you mentioned) the front end suspension would be on the list. Many have mentioned the grips and mirrors. While these aren't deal killing expenditures, they should be made. Keep up the great work Yammie.

    A new black Scout with ABS is $12,400, no thanks. I bought a 2014 Street Glide Special with 25K miles for $10,500 last year. High output 103 with 110 ft lb of torque and 80 BHP. Project Rushmore, 6.5" touch screen with bluetooth and navigation. Ride by wire, cruise control, linked Brembo brakes with ABS, 18" wheels, 2 up riding, saddles bags with plenty of storage, and the best paint job in the industry. My mysterious red sunglow paint looks show room new. I've put 10k trouble free miles on her with no problems just regular maintenance. PS that water cooled scout sounds like crap.

      SGS is not even the same universe as a Scout. New vs New the SGS is 2x+ the price on the scout, so apples/oranges. A 6+ year old Scout is probably closer to 6gs too.
      They serve completely different purposes. Scout is a town hopper, Street Glide is an open-road tourer.
      I haven't had my hands on a Scout yet, so no real opinion. I did ride it's step-brother the Octane at a demo day, and that was a SWEET ride. Wouldn't have wanted to cross the country on it, but for a commuter/hopper it was pretty sweet.
      Demoed an SGS a few years ago too. Also an AWESOME ride, but for different reasons.

    Thank you for finally realizing what a cruiser is. But the scout isn’t the best cruiser. Still an Indian but the ftr1200 is. I’d say the challenger but even though it embodies everything I want in a bagger. I still prefer the street glide and road glide. They aren’t better. The challenger is definitely better. But maybe it’s the Harley boy in me. I just let the looks over the performance because is marginally better but the looks just don’t compete enough for me to want it over it’s competition. I just don’t understand what people expect from Harley that isn’t available on their cruisers besides being water cooled. That’s not really important unless you’re chasing horsepower. They make in torque which others make in horsepower. That to me is more important on the street for a cruiser. If there was anything I wish Harley had that they don’t it’s actually a tft display on a softail with riding modes and Bluetooth connection.
