- Allosaurus is a dinosaur that’s in Battle at Big Rock, Fallen Kingdom and Dominion but didn’t show up in the Jurassic World’s first trilogy at all. I go over the paleontology and film series aspects of this Dino and even put some theories out there on what a good prequel could do for the animal. I think Raptors, Tyrannosaurs and Stegos would be a fun thing to see a redesigned 1990’s version of the Allo in a scene with!

Allosaurus is my favorite medium size carnivore. I was so happy when it got introduced to the Jurassic Park franchise!
Allosaurus is not a medium-sized carnivore. It's up to 35 feet long, 13 feet tall at the head, and some subspecies reached 3.5 tons.

It's usually a medium-sized theropod, but there definitely can and could've been Larger sized Allosaurus specimens out there
Would have been great to have seen Allosaurus in any of the first three films. Could have been put into the Long Grass scene in the Lost World. Everyone running from the Raptors, only to end up stumbling into a sleeping Allo. Or maybe they could have included the swimming Rex scene in the 1st movie but substituted it with an Allosaurus.
That would be amazing. Seeing this in Live action would have been real nice. Maybe they would stumble upon the Allo sleeping in a curled position with a rotting Dino body next to it and it would get awoke and angry at the people for startling it and commence chase.
There's an Allosaurus skeleton close to where I live. Specifically, the "Big Al" specimen. It was both awe inspiring and terrifying to look at. Allosaurus became one of my favorite theropod dinosaurs to ever walk the earth.

@@andreamcalexander-fg1iu No...but I live close to the Pierre Shale valley, Laramie formation, Lance Formation, and Hell Creek Formation. I've also come to my attention that Wyoming is smack dab in the middle of the Morrison Formation.
I do like how Frontier kinda “filled in the blanks” from Fallen Kingdom in their Allosaurus design in Jurassic World: Evolution. They made their version a more mature version of the juvenile from the film via size and the addition of the back spikes. I personally like it.
So do I, looks better than the design we got in BABR and Dominion imo.
@@seanmckelvey6618Agreed. JWE's Allosaurus looks like a proper adult version of the juveniles in Fallen Kingdom. BABR's Allosaurus is weird in comparison. Why are its crests directly above its eyes, when the FK Allo's crest is in front of its eyes? It looks like a different dinosaur entirely.
Evolution's allosaurus design is still the best! I wish they would use it in movies.
By the way, you're right about the Indoraptor from Fallen Kingdom. In spite of some objective faults with the movie, the inclusion of the Indoraptor itself is quite clever and nuanced as it doesn't repeat the whole ''BiGgGeR ThAn ThE T.ReX'' narrative, but makes it uniquely terrifying and special for different reasons

This is what I have thought about. Ever since I have played JPOG on Xbox by unlocking an allosaurus. I said to myself would if allosaurus we're to be a antagonist since all the old classic movies like When The Land of Time Forgot or even King Kong where the meat eater was sometimes regarded as an allosaurus. But to me, an Allo would be crazy terrifying.
As a student of paleontology I do appreciate the jurassic park/world movies I love all of them

Cool! As a matter of fact, Allosaurus was going to be the main villain in the film before they switched to the Velociraptors. I would love to have seen Allosaurus having a showdown with Rexy at the films climax, but we all know how that would have been: the Allosaurus would have it neck broken by Rexy's bone crushing jaws.

Save for the anthropomorphism, Broken Jaw is pretty accurate. In fact, if I remember right, he's based on a real deformed Allosaurus jaw.

Which had a jaw broken but the spikes on his neck and the way the end of his tail is shaped is unrealistic they just gave him a bunch of spikes so that’s what I mean when I say it’s unrealistic also allosaurus much much bigger, but he could’ve been a juvenile
@@jadix1248 The spikes are probably just keratin. Aside from being shrink-wrapped, it's one of the most accurate depictions of Allosaurus in media.
The size is also accurate. Allosaurus europeaus was not the biggest predator in Jurassic Portugal. That title goes to Torvosaurus gurneyi.
Allosaurus is one of my favorite dinosaurs, in fact I hope allosaurus appears in future Jurassic stories after Jurassic world fallen kingdom, battle and dominion.
It seems to me that a most of the dinosaurs in JW just sort of show up without too much fanfare. They are not foreshadowed, named, or make grand entrances. Allosaurus suffers from this a lot. Except for Battle at Big Rock they just sort of run around and snap at things next to a bunch of other dinosaurs until the scene just ends.
Awesome Video Klayton and Great Ideas and Analyzing of what if Allosaurus stayed in the Jurassic Park Trilogy and I pretty much agree with your thoughts on this because Allosaurus is one of the most famous dinosaurs since Tyrannosaurus Rex and Velociraptors in the Jurassic Franchise.
Since Allosaurus was made famous in the Walking with Dinosaurs series, maybe it could do the same in the Jurassic Franchise and same with the Carnotaurus after its popularity in Dinosaur 2000 from Disney and if both Allosaurus and Carnotaurus stayed in the Jurassic Park trilogy then they would get more screen time and more appearances in the franchise and it would be very interesting in my opinion.

The Allosauruses in the Lost World game were amazing. Really gave the impression of large sized predators that killed through bleeding their prey to death rather than crushing them like T. rex (plus their sounds reminded me of the carnivore in the original King Kong). The one from JP:OG was just awful. Even it's vocalisations seemed to cry out "please kill me".

My favorite Allosaurus design was the one from the JP: Lost World toyline. I especially like the colors of it. Allosaurus is on my list of favorite dinosaurs, and it would be awesome to see it get proper screentime.
Still mad about the T-Rex getting their butt kicked huh? Same, though the I.Rex battle I make an exception since the I.Rex was technically part T.Rex and it at least had everything going for it size/strength/intelligence/weapons, along with being a monster of the dinosaur world. Plus it was awesome to see Rexy and Blue team up to fight the I.Rex.

My dad (👨) actually discovered a tooth from this Jurassic predator one time when me, him, and my mom (Rest Her Soul) volunteered on an actual paleontology dig for the Fruita, Colorado dinosaur museum.

In official Jurassic media, I'd say the design and color pattern conecptulaized by Matt Hall for The Lost World Playstation game is arguably the BEST design I've seen in ALL of Jurassic media still to date. And I wish they had gone with that design for the Allosaurus in the Jurassic World films. Although I'll admit that the redesigned adult head for Battle At Big Rock and Dominion is really good (minu the "jugal teeth"), so they could easily transplant a slightly moddified BABR/Dominion head onto the JWE1 and 2 body, with the Matt Hall '97 color pattern that would have been an absolutely incredible design for the animal on a Jurassic film or in a Jurassic game!
My logo is pleased with this video...personally, I'd love to see more Allo and Ceratosaurus in live action.

When I was little before Jurassic World movies were made, I was a bit confused on how come the allosaurus hasn't shown up yet it's a cool famous dinosaurs, and it's literally the king of the Jurassic
My earliest recollection of allosaurus is of course walking with dinosaurs wish it got more spotlight in the Jurassic movies though I loved it's appearance in battle at big rock.

Thank you for mentioning When Dinosaurs Roamed America Klayton! One of my favourite documentaries and so underrated! I was adament it wouldn't be mentioned here until you said "another dinosaur documentary that really big back in the day..." Once you said that I knew what was coming! Since you also pointed out how the one from WDRA somewhat resembles TLW (video game) Allo, it gives me more appreciation for that design. On that note, one of the reasons I like the Pyroraptor in Dominion so much is because it looks like it might have been inspired by Pod the Pyroraptor from Dinosaur Planet, which was from the same creative team behind WDRA: the now-defunct Meteor Studios. In turn, Dinosaur Planet featured a JP Velociraptor cameo!
And what does this have to do with the Allosaurus this has nothing to do with the Allosaurus okay why you talking about Velociraptors I mean I understand I'm a huge Velociraptor fan myself but we're talkin about Allosaurus and its history basically

I think with fallen kingdom, they should’ve leaned more into the horror element with the indoraptor, it would be a lot like aliens isolation with the indoraptor roaming the halls of the manor and everyone trying to avoid it

It is a very cool idea, having Allosaurus in an environment like TLW or even JP3 would be sick as hell. I'm not sure how it would work though, considering that the Fallen Kingdom promo material said that it was only 12% complete in the early to mid 90s. It could be argued that it could have been completed during the amalgam testing in 1999, which imo would be the best argument into fitting the allo into the timeline of the original 3 movies.
Klayton did you see the new JWE2 feathered pack editions? The Lost World design of the Allo I liked a lot back in the day in the game. Surprised you didn't mention the JWE2 version of the adult which looks more like a real animal than the BABR monster.
A. fragilis and A. jimmadseni as a hybrid is pretty much what you get in real world hybridization like Ligers for instance (P. Leo + P. tigris)
Seeing that sort of stuff in the franchise I'd love but if the rest of the plot was also focusing on the animal (but not like the I rex sort of way rather a zoo attraction and handling the animal without an unrealistic amount of chaos)
Allosaurus is one I think was overlooked for so long simply because it's not as big as a T. rex - poor excuse but for a while it seemed like they were ONLY interested in bringing in new big-bads to beat up on the T. rex and since obviously Allosaurus wouldn't have any real chance of that, it was left out. And that's a shame.

I find it interesting that the producers for the lost world were considering using the allosaurus that had camouflaging abilities like the carnotaurus.

i would love to see a prequel to Jurassic Park 3. the whole premise of the movie could explore ingens secret continued work & dive into the creation/hybridization of the spino as a sub plot but the main antagonist could be a couple allosaurs & maybe borrow a lot from Crichtons novel with the camouflage ability. the spino could be set loose on the island as a result of the havoc the allosaurs caused. we could also explore Masranis acquisition of ingen & the secret work they did on the island. you could even tie in some manta corp stuff too.
Carnivore fights has been done to death, but there hasn’t been a fight between carnivores and herbivores since that short moment between Carnotaurus and Sinoceratops.
Allosaurus is one of the most iconic dinosaurs with such a history in the fossil record and in paleontology research, especially because it was a successful theropod in the Jurassic Period. It is surprising that it has not appeared in either the original novels of the original film trilogy. If there are multiple species used, I suspect Allosaurus fragilis would be the main one due to other dinosaurs that lived alongside it have been cloned by Ingen. But I can see a scenario where they may not have enough DNA and have to use other locations and mix the DNA to complete it. Having Allosaurus maximus, aka Saurophaganax would be exciting and would be a nice rival for T.rex and the other large theropods due to its size and being a Jurassic predator instead of from the Cretaceous.
I love the idea of having one appear in a prequel and having a 90's look and it would fit perfectly with the original dinosaurs. It could fit as a nice balance compared to the other predators due to its size and yet it often believed to have been a very efficient and aggressive predator. It can have a role similar to how it is in "Dino Crisis 2." I do think "The Isle" has one of the best designs and would be awesome to see in Jurassic Park's universe.

My favorite Allo depiction is actually a funky one: the one from the 2011 JP Dino Showdown line. It has an iguana look, just like how the carno has a chameleon thing going on.
I've always liked the Allosaurus because it's the big dinosaur that my local museum has. So it's always been a disappointment to see it overlooked in most things due to the T. rex being similar except bigger and cooler. Even the name Allosaurus means "other lizard" as if to downplay its significance.
The Ark Evolved Allosaurs are pretty big fan favorites. They tend to pack up if I recall.
Ngl I would totally be down for a more "predator" style film taking place in the JP Franchise around the time of the Lost World or JP3; like a team of mercenaries is sent to the islands without knowing of the creatures that await them. Just saw the film "Southern Comfort" recently, and if a group of cajuns in the bayou can pick off an armed team from the national guard, then something like allosaurus or metriacanthosaurus could be just as interesting.
Imagine a TV show set on Sorna between TLW and JP3. It could follow two scientist stranded there after the Spino breakout from the lab. Perhaps season 1 could deal with the Spino and then season 2 the Allosaurus.
i've actually been batting around ideas for an alternate version of JP (as in it's a book and then a movie in a different universe mainly written to acknowledge the alternate paleontology of that setting) and, inspired by a discussion from years and years ago on Jurassic Park Legacy on what could feasibly "replace" the raptors, it's actually allosaurus used in place of them, low-balling their size as an inversion of what happened with the raptors (and possibly retconned in-universe to them being a different genus of allosaur) and so it's allosaurus that gets all the hype that went to the raptors and their whole clade
I've been thinking for a long time writing a survival horror story about an Allosaurus
I agree that an Allosaurus would be a great addition to JP, it is a decently sized animal with a fully grown Saurophagonax being half as heavy as a fully grown T-Rex (or at least half as heavy as Scotty I think.) Plus Allosaurus fossils have show that they had a bunch of inquiries that they recovered from, so you could have the Allosaurus chasing them have stuff like a broken arm, scars all over its body and just make it look nasty if you wanted to.
As for what my personal favorite Allosaurus and Saurophagonax designs I think for Allosaurus it would be Dinosaur Revolution’s Allo, the green and white just look nice together. For Saurophagonax it has to be Dinosaur King, the gila monster colors just looks great on it.
I’d love to see the allosaurus skeleton and being on a new Jurassic park logo and being sort of the new replacement of Rexy in my opinion. Love to see it along with more scenes with the actual size of the Dilophosaurus, Stegosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Compsognathus, & more Jurassic era dinosaurs
One Allosaurus model/look you hardly ever see (case and point, this video) is from the toy line from TLW. It was a hospital/vet kind of set and it had multiple pieces that could come off showing damage. The model was orange and white and it was actually a very good model. Probably my favourite sculpt of all TLW figures. I love the model from TLW PlayStation game too. They hissed and as you said were very athletic and flexible. I’d love for them to become a central dinosaur in a future JP movie because they’re perfectly sized between a Raptor and a T Rex. They have the power of a larger animal, but also small enough to be a threat even in smaller spaces.
To be honest they could've done a lot more things with the allosaurus but they continued to do things with rexy and the velicoraptors and hybrids not the other well famous dinosaurs

Fun Fact: BABR Allosaurus is the mother of JWD adult Allosaurus and Juvinile, also the allosaurus that left Lockwood manor only 4 was brought to the main land

Allosaurus is my favorite large theropod, so I was happy to finally see it make the franchise.
