Quick correction! For the show “Dinosaucers” I had mistakenly referred to Allo as the villain. When he is, in fact, a protagonist of the series. Now that the show is on my radar, I hope to return to it again in future videos!
I love The Isle's design. I remember the first time seeing it in one of Anthomnia's videos. It had this gorgeous orange color that reminded me of some of the male theropods from Dinosaur Planet. My favorite depiction of Allosaurus is from Path of Titans though, the fact that it has lips is what tipped the balance in its favor over The Isle's Allosaurus.
We’ve known the shape of Allosaurus’ skull since the diagram of aggregate material was released alongside Madsens osteology in 1977, so I’m not going to let early documentaries off the hook too easily. Especially because the skull of Allosaurus is highly aesthetic with a gentle elegant backwards sweep to it. It’s design in the Isle and to a lesser extent POT reflect this very well. It’s also why I don’t hate the LooP design because it nails the skull shape. Jurassic World and a few other modern media entries use Big Al 2’s skull as a model, which is unfortunate because it’s been diagentically deformed to appear boxier and snaggle toothed. The adult Jurassic World allosaurus also has arms that are too small, which is a defining feature of the animal and is frequently undersold in its depictions. Although most allosaurs come in between 20-30 feet, there’s multiple fragmentary specimens that indicate a much larger upper range to Allosaurus size. Saurophaganax is it’s own can of worms, but Bakker’s Monster of Masonville, Cope’s Epanterias, and a femur from Cleveland Lloyd all indicate an animal coming in at at least 11 meters and likely more. None of these specimens contain any diagnostic characters that would refer them to Saurophaganax, and are A. fragilis in all ways except their tremendous size.
Hoo boy, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs brought back memories of the Arcade game. Yes, there is a comic (readable online, too), the Capcom game (maybe you can find it playable online, too) and the cartoon is even watchable on UA-cam.

It was The Isle that made me fall in love with allosaurus. From a full realism server which had allowed a pack of them- then later bloodline realated only packs of the same number amount which were extremely aggressive towards one another. My pack had existed for a couple of real life years. Generation after generations with ups and downs and legendary eras. The When Dinosaurs Roamed America depiction is actually one of my personal favourites. In addition, what you said about the Jurassic Fight Club design is how I feel about essentially all of the creatures in it. Their shapes and features are widely inaccurate but their colour palettes are surprisingly admirable.
Yeah, JFC's models are weird to say the least, but damn it, some of the colors and patterns almost redeem them. The male Majungasaurus, regardless of accuracy, is my favorite depiction of the animal, or at least in my top 3.
You did in fact miss one that I know of from a fairly obscure show my parents once showed me. The show is called ‘Sliders’ and it’s about people “sliding” between different alternate dimensions and visiting various versions of earth. In one episode the characters find themselves in a nature preserve for resurrected dinosaurs and spend most of the episode trying not to get eaten by an Allosaurus. If I’m not mistaken it’s the only dinosaur that they encounter too I was kinda hoping it’d show up here, but I guess it’s just too obscure. Just thought I’d share the info
What about the Jurassic World Evolution 1 and 2 Allosaurus?? They had to do an Adult version of the Fallen Kingdm DLC Allosaurus for the game that looks really good, in JWE2 they change the position of the hands to more accurate.
I think what surprises me the most is just how relatively recent the crests are implemented with the Allosaurus designs. I've always seen the crest on its head as iconic as the tail of a stegosaurus and yet even as recent as some 70s and 80s depictions we see Allosaurus's shown without them. It's crazy to me.
Quick correction as I did watch some of the show. In Dinosaucers, Allo was the leader of the heroine faction. To make an analogy as such types of toys were popular at the time, he was the Optimus Prime of the group opposite the main villain whom was a Tyrannosaurus. If I recall correctly their was a device the heroes had to turn themselves back into the Mesozoic styled dinosaurs for a spell, but they are still themselves mentally, so that's why there was seemingly 2 designs for him. Love the video and the series so far, great work!
The Allo has always been my favorite. I love most of its modern designs. What I like most is the idea that its a sauropod hunter, similar to a lion hunting buffalo. Very few medias presented this though. Can ye do one for Triceratops soon? (No rush!)
To bring up your comments about The Isle's Allosaurus. No it's not in Evrima yet, but it has been announced for it, they released a concept art for it in Evrima, and they basically confirmed that every playable from Legacy will eventually come back to Evrima. Except for Puertasaurus, that's being replaced by Brachiosaurus. I do kind of wish you'd taken a look at its older Isle designs too. The classic Allo and the "Batman" Allo as people called it.
For how often Allosaurus has shown up in media, we haven’t had a truly good depiction of it yet. Then again, it took PhP for Tyrannosaurus to be done Justice.
Honestly, I always considered Gwangi a Tyrannosaurus, as Harryhausen already did an Allosaurus in One Million Years B.C., and Gwangi looks nothing like it.
Land Before Time's Allosaurus was definitely odd. I always thought it was a Yangchuanosaurus on its design back then. Definitely not much of an Allosaurus.
I actually hate the Jurassic World designs. Allo has a tall, narrow skull, instead of the longer and broader nose like in Jurassic World. It looks like a dumb dog snout instead of an allo skull. The Isle and Path of Titans are beautiful. Ark's design is a bit goofy, but I still like it.
WWD rendition is a little outdated but if we apply the colour scheme to modern interpretation it's going to be a stunner. Imagine if the team behind Prehistoric Planet went out and do Jurassic-themed series...
My favourite Allosaurus design is Walking with Dinosaurs, especially The Balled of Big Al which made it my favourite Dinosaur. Allosaurus has appeared everywhere except for Prehistoric Planet and also fun fact, Allosaurus was Ray Harryhausen’s favourite Dinosaur. By the way you missed out a couple of other franchises, Allosaurus appeared in Dinosaur Train and although not the Animal itself but a fictional relative. There was a character in King Kong Eacapes called Gorosaurus who crossed over into the Godzilla franchise for Destroy All Monsters and he was a fictional member of the Allosaurus genus.
Tbh my favorite Allosaurus is the Prior Extinction one, yet you maybe don't know the game but its Allosaurus looks pretty accurate and its roars sound like if it was a lion, what a pitty you didn't mention it.
16:25 fun fact this allosaurus model is actually a remodel of two older allosaurus designs back when the isle was in its progression days 2016-2018, one has spikes at the bak of its head and tip of its tail while the other has these huge long crest that looks like bunny ears and it has all these spikes running down its back.
Not so much speculation. Lips seem the default for terrestrial tetrapods. Their teeth don’t seem to have wear common in that of exposed teeth, and they lack many of the adaptions crocs have. Oral tissue makes sense, so it’s often applied. It’s really a silly debate.
Allo from Dinosaucers is actually one of the main heroes of the show & the leader of the Dinosaucers team. The villain is Ghengis Rex the T. rex of the Tyrannos group.
aaa I clicked on this video so quickly when I saw this video, allosaurus is by far my favourite dinosaur, my favourite iteration being the isles allosaurus and the juvi one from jurassic world fallen kingdom!
I kind of like the life on our planet allo. The Jurassic World one was cool at first but after a while, I began to dislike the inaccuracies. It looked too edgy and I’m glad ILM made a slimmer version for the documentary.
Surprised you didn't bring up Dinosaur king also features another Allosaurus species, Allosaurus Atrox, which granted it's dubious now, iirc, but still. It also Saurophaganax, in fact i think THIS is it major debut.

I've always seen the crest on its head as iconic as the tail of a stegosaurus and yet even as recent as some 70s and 80s depictions we see Allosaurus's shown without them. It's crazy to me.
I grew up in the 8s and 90s. Do you know how I got to know Spinosaurus?
(No rush!)
I hope you will also check out Paleo Pines. The dinos are designed to be really cutesy, but there's still accuracy and designing to be ogled.
And finally it got confirmed for TI! 🥳
(the extended Dibble trailcam)
For how often Allosaurus has shown up in media, we haven’t had a truly good depiction of it yet. Then again, it took PhP for Tyrannosaurus to be done Justice.
Allosaurus was also in Dino Crisis 2 and The Lost World: Jurassic Park ps1
Walking with Dinosaurs allosaurus is still my favorite
Honestly, I always considered Gwangi a Tyrannosaurus, as Harryhausen already did an Allosaurus in One Million Years B.C., and Gwangi looks nothing like it.
Hey its the Allosaurus from the Royal Gorge Regional Museum in Canon City! Fun video!
You’ve missed “Planet of the Dinosaurs”, "Dino Hunter: Deadly Shores” and “Dinosaur Train” for their design interpretations.
Land Before Time's Allosaurus was definitely odd. I always thought it was a Yangchuanosaurus on its design back then. Definitely not much of an Allosaurus.
I bet looking at the T. rex would take an entire week if Allosaurus was this long lol
Extra points to this video for mentioning Dinosaur King, Jurassic Park Builder and Jurassic World: The Game
You forgot, the allosaurus that appears very briefly in Gravity falls
what episode-
Where's the Allosaurus from the movie A Sound of Thunder? And the series sliders 1995!?🦖
I just noticed the Giganotosaurus figurine on the shelf in your background and I am delighted because I have the same one!! (I named her Janet)
Jurassic world alive wasn't mentioned here. (I too miss jurassic Park builder)
Upset you missed Dino Crisis 2's Allo. Loved how it seemed to play with you rather than flat out attack
There's also an allosaurus in the sound of thunder in the movie, but in the book it was T rex
I will die on the hill that saurophaganax is literally just a fully grown allosaurus, and there is no argument that it isn't.
There’s a guy who’s remaking Jurassic Park builder.
Tbh my favorite Allosaurus is the Prior Extinction one, yet you maybe don't know the game but its Allosaurus looks pretty accurate and its roars sound like if it was a lion, what a pitty you didn't mention it.
PE's Allosaurus looks awesome (ignoring the current mastery skin; the old one looked better).
Im not gonna say that the big one in jurassic world franchise is a saurophaganax in full size not an allosaurus :))
Well until we find a mummy, we will know the truth if theropods have lips we can’t speculate
Unless it was already destroyed.
@@goj1_lag00n what?
Not so much speculation. Lips seem the default for terrestrial tetrapods. Their teeth don’t seem to have wear common in that of exposed teeth, and they lack many of the adaptions crocs have. Oral tissue makes sense, so it’s often applied. It’s really a silly debate.
@@DinoGuy8 again until we find a mummy
Allo from Dinosaucers is actually one of the main heroes of the show & the leader of the Dinosaucers team.
The villain is Ghengis Rex the T. rex of the Tyrannos group.
aaa I clicked on this video so quickly when I saw this video, allosaurus is by far my favourite dinosaur, my favourite iteration being the isles allosaurus and the juvi one from jurassic world fallen kingdom!
I don't see the 2 Allosauruses from Jurassic Domination and Triassic Hunt
You forgot to mention the Saurophaganax that appears in dinosaur king
The allosaurus is the most iconic dinosaur out there are you can't tell me otherwise
one game I enjoy that had a good Allosaurus is Zoo tycoon dino digs.
I kind of like the life on our planet allo. The Jurassic World one was cool at first but after a while, I began to dislike the inaccuracies. It looked too edgy and I’m glad ILM made a slimmer version for the documentary.
You forgot the allosaurus from the TV series Sliders
My favourite is planet dinosaurs rendition of allosaurus
Dino Crisis 2’s Allosaurus was really cool, especially when you unlock it to play as after you beat the game.
Surprised you didn't bring up Dinosaur king also features another Allosaurus species, Allosaurus Atrox, which granted it's dubious now, iirc, but still. It also Saurophaganax, in fact i think THIS is it major debut.
nice video could you do Edmontosaurus?
8:44 I feel like there's a movie reference to be made here.
I personaly love so much allosaurus! It alwayes look to me as agile and big but not gigantic plus arms i just love the idea of alls as ground hawks :3 But in jw his head looks too boxy :/
Behaviour-wise my fave is The Ballad of Big Al's portrayal, design-wise, it's the ones from Dinosaur Revolution, Path off Titans and The Isle that are my favourites.
Can you do carno next? Also love your content
Dino Crisis 2 had an allosaurus design that I think looks very cool
Besides the T rex, allosaurus is indeed one of my favs
Broken Jaw is the real giga chad
