- The older Proto 2000 models aren't DCC ready, so here I show you how I converted mine, whilst also adding new lighting.

How did you get to the bulbs. I couldn’t figure out how to get the mechanism or to get to the bulbs.

I have a couple of questions. First did you take the motor out of the E8 and put some black tape down under the motor so there wouldn't be any possible frame to motor contact? My second question is why didn't you use the original mars light electronics? I mean just hook the wires up from the decoder (for light function) to the mars light electronics? Would the voltage be different? I am currently working on a E8 for the Burlington Railroad and I have been upgrading parts such as the motor mount(Athearns new screw type works great). I will be installing a Digitrax decoder in mine. Great paint job on the engineers and cab.

i just got me a Proto 2000 E6 in the KCS livery at a train show, and it says on the box, and i quote "equipped with DCC plug". where the hell is the plug?

the Daylight was pullen by the sp steamlokomotive who did you bought the E8 and Not the Steamlokomotive?
later trains were E8. The original 1943 Pre war cars wouldn't have seen E units much and as of 1952 most had the skirts taken off and the "Daylight engines" were all retired or turned black and stripped of their skirting. Then In the late 60 early 70s passenger trains were dropped altogether.
in the 50s locomotives took over like E9s E8 alco PAs and E7s and they took over and here are the locomotives
