Then a friend of mine who was in intelligence in the military said China has not quite finished getting all the farms and meat processing plants set up in the US to feed thier army that is already here in the US. Biggest dangers to the USA.....yes probably an EMP and cyber-attacks are right up there thanks to decades of America pissing off a lot of other nations with their foreign policy. I'm in New Zealand which is mostly considered a neutral country because although we align with the USA, UK and Australia from a military standpoint, our biggest trading partner is China so, in my opinion and because NZ is slap bang on the Pacific Ring of Fire my main concern for my prepping here is earthquake, volcanic activity and tsunami. But anything that can cause a grid down or long-term crisis and bring about civil unrest and supply chain issues is going to change society for ever. Like you said if you prep for EMP/Grid down situation (or the Zombie apocalypse) you are pretty much covered for everything. All the best to you and yours.
Question? Will disconnecting the battery of modern vehicles before a EMP save the electronics ? If so why not put a battery disconnect switch under the dash and disconnect the battery when. It in use .. just asking for a friend 😉
I don't think that DC the battery would protect from emp. There are companies that sell emp shielding for vehicles but I have my doubts that it really works. There is no consensus on how many cars/trucks will survive emp. Some say, all cars with electronic ignition will be disabled, others say that most modern cars will be okay. I tend to believe in line of sight damage. In other words, if you are directly in the line of sight of the emp blast your car will probably not run.
It doesnt matter if your vehicle runs or not cuz if emp hits, you wont be able to get gas anywhere and you cant store gas for very long anyway. Better start learning how to survive without all the modern conveniences that you wont have anymore.
